Summary:
no matter how Bilbo tries to argue, he knows the man is set on judging him. and he understands, he really does. after all, it was this man who had to save Frodo from one angry goose and ended up soaked to the skin, all because Bilbo took his eyes off his little nephew for just a second.
(and the fact the man is very handsome doesn't help.
oh Good Lady, get a grip, Bilbo! the stranger probably hates you for being irresponsible! and is probably married!)

... and bilbo invites the stranger and his sons (?) to his house (because it's nearby!) so the stranger can dry his clothes. will they get to know each other better thoooough?? *eyes emoji*
