It was not supposed to be like this that was all viserys could think as he stat on the Iron throne. Years ago as he slept he dreamed of three sons strong valerian and his then he saw them die one by one. He saw is daughter married his brother and fight his sons probably because of his brother trying to steal the throne using his daughter. He saw his dear Aemma die in childbed unable to give him the sons he needed. His grandfather had told him that he must have son's they carry there house on. So he made the difficult decision to annual his marriage as she couldn't give him son's. He then annual his brothers marriage to Rhae Royce and married him to Aemma that way he would have his valerian wife and not go after his daughter. He would also protect Aemma as when he banished them from Westeros as he needed Daemon far away from Rhaenyra to not influence her in any way. Afterwards he married his good friend Otto's daughter she was the mother of the sons he saw in his dream. Finally he would be the king he dreamed about a peaceful king loved by all with a son that would take after him and be just like him. But that never came his first son Aegon only lived for a month, his next son Aemond died only a couple of hours after his birth only his second daughter Helaena still lived. To make matters worse Alicents was now unable to have more children leaving him with no heir. So here he sat licensing to his council arguing about the succession.
"Your majesty you should name prince Daemon as your heir he is your brother and oldest male targaryen" lord Strong argued with nods from lord Bessbury.
"Daemon cannot possibly be allowed to become king he is to arrogant and blood thirsty. He'll plunge the realm into constant war if given the crown, not to mention his wife is Barron and unable to have son's well just end up with the same problem under him." Otto replied which the grand Maester agreed with they he was the last person they wanted on the throne.
"The king can always take another queen he set queen Aemma aside because she was unable to give him a son could he not do the same with queen Alicent" lord Tyland Lannister said. This was meet with anger from Otto as it mean the end of his goal of having his blood on the Iron throne.
"While that is possible many lord want the king to name an heir now. If one is not named soon and king dies unexpectedly it could lead to a succession crisis with every lord putting forward there own candidates or trying to came it for themselves." Lord Bessbury said to the kings horror he could not let that happen it would be just like his dream dragon burning everything and kingdoms destroying eachother.
"What about princess Rhaenyra she is the kings oldest child married to the head of house Stark one of the great houses. Also from the reports we have received from the north it's friving under there leadership" lord Strong puts forward. That surprised Viserys he had married his daughter to lord Cregan the heir to winterfell when she flowered at thirteen and hadn't seen her since. Any letters he had sent were returned unopened and representative of the north had always been sent whenever it was required for them to appear in court. So he had not seen his daughter in years how old would she be now twenty.
"She was just as prone to causing chaos as Daemon was and she hasn't left the north ever since she married." Otto replied trying to move away from the princess. While pleased original about she was being sent to the frozen North to be forgotten now could only lament on the fact that she had left. If he now Alicent would fail so badly to produce and heir he would have kept the girl and married heir to his son, got her to birth a couple of dragon riding sons then had here killed later on. But no she was married to a Stark and far beyond his reach.
"That was when she was a child she probably changed since then and she has been to vale and River land and number of times to trade takes to my knowledge" said lord Strong.
"She has also been in Braavos, Lys and Tyrosh her help was most helpful in gaining new trade deals that a number of lords that I work with have praised. There is also rumours that she been to Dorne and stayed in sunspire" said lord Bessbury.
"Both her and lord Stark were also at my brother's wedding not long ago. She congratulated by new sister in law lad Johanna and spoke to me about possible military alliance the help combat the iron born" said lord Lannister.
This left both the king and hand speechless as never of them had heard any of this. The king was thinking how his daughter had been all over westeros yet never visited. While the hand couldn't believe that he had heard nothing about that girl making alliances with out his knowledge. Then worried what else he had missed and what trouble she had caused.
"They're well I shall leave for winterfell and see for my self if Rhaenyra should be named heir. Otto make the preparation at once" the king said before dismissing everyone. Once everyone had left he began to smile he would get to see his little girl again.
