Work Text:
Sinking further into the depths of night,
the waters rose up to greet you.
Drowning in the shadows of yesterday,
your burdens have made you heavy.
The moon is reflected in your doleful eyes
and in your trembling voice.
A world entombed within a painting,
descending to the bottom of nothingness.
We have begun a journey to a place from
which we will never wake from again.
In a moment of fragility, our cold hands
embraced and became intertwined.
Quivering in the awakening sentiment,
we now have come to know love.
With pain and kindness, with wounds and
kisses, I want to free your heart.
I will become, for you, a radiant jewel that
will break the darkest of nightmares.
I want for you to call me by my true name.
Crimson flowers bloom on the shores of
Hell; heralds of a new kind of sadness.
This abyss we believed to be Paradise,
this slumbering landscape of madness.
Were we so easily fooled by the promise
of Heaven?
Imprisoned for all eternity, alone but together,
we will remain here and wait.
In an unending dawn, in an unending dream,
we sing a ballad of loneliness.
