Chapter Text
Draco Malfoy had always liked silence—perhaps because it was the only place where the world did not stare back at him.
But the silence couldn't stand him.
It screams, shatters, and tears apart.Draco's body follows, wracked by spasms that hurt like a punishment. The pain comes like an old acquaintance: cruel and patient. Bones shift, muscles twist, and flesh stretches beyond its limits. His breath is lost among the screams he tries to swallow. The sound is too grotesque for someone who has always sought quiet.
And there, at the height of the noise, Draco realizes the irony. He is the noise destroying his own refuge.
He tries not to look at the chains. Not even at the door behind which his mother waits in silence. Not even his mother can enter. Not while he is becoming that.
The transformation never gets any easier.
It never gets any less lonely.
Draco hates himself for every second he remains conscious.
Weeping and writhing, he wishes for a reality where he could just be the Malfoy he used to be. At least then, he was only a spoiled, arrogant, and cruel boy. A horrible human being, yes—but human.
Now, he can't even be that.
The blood seeps from beneath his fingernails.
His bones rearrange themselves. A metallic taste floods his mouth.
Everything screams what he refuses to accept.
Monster.
It isn't even his first transformation. Nor his second. Nor his fourth. Draco has already lost count of how many full moons he has faced.
It had all started a week before the Malfoy family trial: the first transformation, the initial shock, the fear of being seen, and the painful certainty that this would be his reality from then on.
Perhaps it was what he deserved.
A coward.
A boy who had chosen the wrong side.
Someone as rotten as him should suffer. Should pay.
Then why is it so hard? Why does it hurt so much?
Lucius Malfoy, now imprisoned in Azkaban, was the first to confirm what Draco feared most. The letter Narcissa received—which he only found out about because she couldn’t hide her tears—was short, cold, and definitive:
"This is not the son I raised. A Malfoy does not become tainted"
The words pierce through him like a blade.
The emptiness.
The absolute rejection.
The weight of no longer being recognized as a son.
Restrained only by the fear of hurting the person he loved most, Draco surrenders to the agony of the transformation. Every muscle twists. Every bone snaps. His body screams against his mind, reminding him that no amount of regret could ever erase what he had become.
Outside, Narcissa waits.
In silence.
Steady.
Patient.
She cannot enter. Not while the full moon governs the son she loves so much.
But she remains there. Always there. Offering what only she can: presence, patience, and care.
When his body finally gives out, Draco collapses.
The screams fade.
The pain quiets.
Narcissa steps inside.
Her hands find the wolf’s white fur, still warm, resting amid iron chains and torn clothes. She strokes him gently, offering a calmness that not even the full moons can steal away.
Half-unconscious, half-awake, the wolf relaxes under her touch and lets out a low sigh.
For a moment—brief yet eternal—Draco feels that perhaps there is still something human left inside him.
