Work Text:
I don’t want to be here. It's after patrol when Fat Gum came up to me. “Tamaki me and a few others are going to the bar,” he says as I finish my last form.
“Ok,”
“You should come with us,” he says as I put my pen down.
I really don’t want to go. I look up at him and then quickly look away. “I’d rather not,” I mumble.
“It will be fun. Come on change. You’re going,”
And that’s how I find myself in a bar standing in the corner alone on my third beer. I really hate these things.
Mostly because of the people. There are far too many and it’s too loud. I downed the last of my drink, before awkwardly going back to the bar stumbling slightly as I did so, and ordering another.
For the record, I’m not a heavy drinker. But it’s tempting right now. And what’s one more going to hurt?
Well, one more turns to two which turns to three then four. Then I can hardly stand let alone think straight.
Most of the people from the agency have trickled out. That’s odd. When did they start leaving?
I fumble for my phone which is in my back pocket. I manage to get it out and after fumbling to unlock it I hit Mirio’s contact without thinking. “Tamaki,” his voice rings through the phone. Sounding like sunshine like always.
“Hi,” my voice is all slurred.
“Are you ok? You sound weird,”
“‘M fine can’t walk,” I manage to get out half leaning against the wall for support.
“Where are you?”
That’s a good question. Where am I? “Bar,”
“Which one?”
I blink. There’s more than one bar? But I’m at a bar. He should know which one. Why doesn’t he? “Bar,” I repeat.
He sighs. “Ok. I’ll track you. Don’t leave,”
Why would I leave? Where would I go?
I don’t know how long it is until he comes through those doors, but when he does he comes straight to me. I try to finish my drink but he takes it from me. I frown and try to reach for it but it doesn’t work. “No, you’re done,” he says, putting an arm around me.
I lean into him because he’s warm. “Come on,” he says trying to get me to walk. I manage to put one foot in front of the other. Leaning on him more than I would like to admit.
We exit the bar. The cool night air hits against my heated skin. I press my face into Mirio’s shoulder.
Then I decide to stop walking. Why do I need to walk when Mirio is here? Why can’t he carry me? He’s so strong. He can do it.
“I need you to walk,” he says softly.
“Don’t wanna,” I slur out.
“You’re going to hate yourself when you sober up,”
I shake my head. He sighs. “Fine,”. Then he’s picking me up bridal style. I wrap my arms around his neck and press my face into the side of his neck.
“So strong and hot,” I mumble.
He chuckles nervously. “Glad you think so,” We arrive at his apartment shortly after, and he takes me into his room and sits me down on the bed. I place one hand on his hip. The other reaches up as I try to take his shirt off.
His large hand wraps around my wrist. “No, you don’t know what you’re doing,”
“But I do,” I argue.
“You’re drunk and if you really feel this way then we can talk about it when you sober up. But right now you’re changing clothes and going to sleep,”
I glare at him as he turns and goes into his dresser, which allows me to have the perfect view of his ass. And we’re going to blame me staring at it on me being shirt-faced drunk.
He comes back with a shirt and pajama pants. Then the next thing I know is he’s taking my shirt off I reach up to tug at his but once again he stops me. “No, I’m putting clothes on you that are more comfortable,” he says and I pout.
He helps me change then gets me to lie down and pulls the sheets over me. I grab his arm when he goes to walk away. “Stay,”
He smiles. “I’ll be on the couch. I’ll see you in the morning,” then he walks away.
When I wake up the next morning it’s a splitting headache and bile building in the back of my throat. I immediately get up, find the bathroom, and throw up. Then I sit on the floor and lean my head against the wall.
Then the memories come flooding in. The ones of me trying to undress Mirio. My face turns beet red. I bury my head in my hands.
Fuck. What was I thinking? “Tamaki?” Mirio calls out as he pushes open the bathroom door. I peek out at him from between my fingers.
“Loud,” I complain,
“Sorry,” he apologizes as he sits next to me. I drop my hands down from my face and onto my lap. “Here I brought you some water and aspirin,” he says handing it to me. I take it.
“Sorry ‘bout last night,” I say.
He turns his head to look at me. “It’s fine. Besides, you were cute,” I feel my cheeks heat up again.
“Sorry about trying to strip you. I know we’re just friends and I don’t want to mess it up,” I admit.
He places a hand on mine. “You’re not messing anything up. Actually, I’ve been in love with you since our second year. I never thought you felt the same way,”
I opt to bury my face in his shoulder again. He chuckles. “So using me as your hiding place is your go-to now?”
“Always has been,” he then kisses me on the top of my head.
“I don’t mind. I never have. You know we don’t have patrol today. How do you feel about watching a movie? We can find one on TV and count it as a date,”
I lift my head to look at him. “Really?”
He beams at me. “Of course!” I rest my head against his shoulder.
“I’m not walking though,”
“Then I’ll carry you,” he wraps an arm around me then and I lean into his side some more.
What can I say? He’s comfy.
