Chapter Text
A loud crash echoed the hallways of Canterlot High. Students who are passing by, talking, or checking their locker paused. All heads turned to the source of sound but nobody was surprised anymore when their curious eyes met with a messy wolfcut golden blonde trapping a frightened girl by the locker. The blonde wicked smirk is blooming in her face, making everyone who's seen it shivered of the dread the poor victim of the day is about to get.
“B-but I didn't-”, croaked the magenta haired girl who's trapped between a locker and a mad girl. She's darting her big eyes around begging for help as the more students crowded the area but no one dared to step in. No one in their right mind would get in between her.
“Didn't what? Speak up wimp, I can't hear you.” The blonde slammed the locker beside the poor girl.
“I- I said-”
“Eyes up here, moron. Didn't mommy and daddy teach you to look in the eye when somebody is talking to you?”, the blonde raised her chin roughly. Forcing them both to locked eyes.
“M-my parents died when I was young”, the poor girl is on the verge of tears.
The blonde face didn't change, “Boohoo, do I look like a fucking therapist to you? Who cares abou-”
“Hey Lightning Dust!”
Everyone— including the two who are the stars of the hallway, turned their heads to the sudden voice. There stood the Rainbooms making their way towards them. Sunset's voice cut through the intimidating air with force. As the seven girls emerged to the scene, everyone else started backing away even further. This is the usual pattern. When I said no one dared to get between her I purposefully excluded the Rainbooms. They're the only ones who dared to do it.
Sunset pulled Lightning away with her collar shirt, Applejack escorted the poor victim away, Rainbow stood in front of her, and the rest of girls circled Lightning to ensure she didn't get away.
“Are you okay, Angel Wings?”, Fluttershy asked with a concerned voice as she and Rarity guided the poor girl away from the crowd.
“What's your deal this time, Lightning?”, Sunset nearly growled.
Lightning smirk deepened as she looked relaxed as ever as if she wasn't currently confronted in front of many students. She crossed her arms as she scanned the five girls surrounding her.
“Heroes of the day come saving lives once again. Congrats Rainbooms, do you need a trophy?", Lightning's voice is thick with sarcasm.
“Cut your twisted tongue off, missy. We all know Angel here ain't do anything wrong”, Applejack scoffed.
Lightning smirk turned full grin at that word, “Never said she did.”
Rainbow groans but Twilight cuts her off before she even speaks. “Then why did you do that? Seriously, Lightning. Can't you go a day without bothering people? Is it so hard for you to do that?”
One of Lightning's eyebrows shot upwards, she already opened her mouth to retorted back when she caught something in her peripheral vision. She opted to roll her eyes instead, lowering her hands to shove them in her pocket, and walk away nonchalantly like she didn't just cause a scene. “Whatfuckingever.”
An offended gasp rang out from Pinkie. “Hey, we haven't finished with you!”, she darted her eyes back and forth. “How dare she ditched us just like that!”
“What a loser”, Sunset rolls her eyes annoyed at her antics. “Always backing up when we confronted her.”
Voices overlapping instantly. The formerly silent hallway soon filled with chatter talking about the recent event before it died with a few hushed as Vice Principal Luna passed by looking curiously at the lump of students in the middle of the hallway.
“What are you all doing here? Didn't you have classes to be?”, her voice bloomed with authority.
All of the students scattered immediately just as the next bell rang. The five of the remaining Rainbooms linger in the hallway for a little longer than the others, they're still processing about the situation in silence before Rainbow broke it with a curse and something about history class as she scurried off. Soon they went to their class one by one muttering about ‘see you in lunch’ and ‘evil blonde’ by Pinkie.
️️︎ ⋆⋆⋆
Lunch is the most favorite and awaited period by all of the high school standards. Greasy table, scrape chair, bubblegums under the table, gossips, bunch of smells infused together, and questionable looking food. All of this mixes with every bit of conversation and noise you can ever imagine. Chatter, burping, laughter, cough, and somehow a group of punk boys manage to sneak a small speaker that currently plays early 2000s songs in their corner.
You can see every kind of group of kids in the cafeteria. Popular, athletes, nerds, quiet kids, fashionistas, band kids, mean kids, and the ones with everything mixed together.
The Rainbooms are seated in their usual table in the ideal precision space that Twilight definitely didn't do any calculation. It isn't the center of the room but also not very far in the corner either. Perfect for observing the rest of the room in case something happened.
But right now nobody is observing anything, they're busy eating and talking about three different topics but somehow everyone still knows the context and what the others are talking about.
“..I'm just saying, that doesn't even make any sense! I mean, who in their right mind could write a five thousand words essay in the span of forty-eight hours with eight fucking hours of school and I don't know, three hours minimum of sleep about a fucking dead person!”, Rainbow growled. She stabbed her fork to the poor burger repeatedly as she talked, imagining it was her history teacher.
Twilight clears her throat. “It’s not just a dead person, it's Star Swirl the Bearded. He's revolutionary, a legend! I don't understand why you're complaining about this, Dash. I'm so excited! Forget about five thousand words, I personally could write a fifty thousand words essay right now and-”
“Do I look like I care?”, Rainbow rolled her eyes.
“Girls”, Fluttershy timidly trying to defuse an incoming fight.
“Well, you should! It's for your grade! Writing essays is fun! Especially if it's about Star Swirl the Bearded”, Twilight shot back. She personally offended by the thought of Rainbow didn't care about Star Swirl the Bearded, the essay, nor her grade.
“Girls.” Fluttershy raised both her hands as if to stop it physically.
“Yeah, for you! I’d rather run a thousand laps than have to think about writing anything”, Rainbow scoffs.
An offended gasp rang out from Twilight, but Fluttershy beat her before she could say anything. “Girls! Stop fighting!”
The center of the table is like a different world compared to the trio on the left side. The atmosphere and the topic was different, the energy shifted into something more personal.
“-They were like, ‘Pinkie you can't even hold a party without damaging anything later’, and I was like-”, Pinkie drew a loud gasp. “How dare they! I'd never ever ruined anything in a part-”
“Dear, sorry to cut you mid sentence but have you forgotten about my dress you accidentally ripped in our last party? I spent my nights sewing that dress for hours and you ripped it in the span of seconds!”, Rarity tossed her hair. She isn't exactly mad, but she didn't fully forgive Pinkie for that just yet.
Pinkie's jaw dropped at the accusation. “I didn't rip it, it was an accident! Someone shove me! Rarity, I'm so so so so sorry. How could I make it up to you?”, Pinkie's low lip trembles at the thought of making her friend mad or sad.
Rarity smacked her lips and waved her hand dismissively. “Oh darling, it was quite alright. Sure, it was a nice dress and I worked hard on it, but actually a new idea flashed through my mind when I saw the ripped. I just need help with a few things..”
Pinkie's eyes lit up. “Oh, oh! I can help! Just text me or call me and I'll be there!”
Rarity smiled victoriously at that. She mentally kissed her own hand when she successfully robbed Pinkie into helping her. “Thank you Pinkie, I really appreciate it.”
“No problemo! Pinkie is happy to help her friends in need!”
The right side of the table is the most normal one out of the three mini groups of the Rainbooms.
“..And I was like, ‘excuse me? You don't even know me.’ For fucksake, AJ. Agh!”, Sunset groans frustratedly.
Applejack calmly eats her food while nodding her head at Sunset. She actually had no idea what the context was but she tried her hardest to act like she knew. “Simmer down, sugarcube. Eat your food before the bell rings.”
Sunset sighs tiredly. “Yeah, you're right. It's not worth my time anyway”, she takes a bite of the burger as she gets distracted by the loud chatter and laughter from the other side of the room.
In the dead center of the cafeteria two tables were being pushed together. It filled with groups of mean kids that have a record of bullying or doing bad things. They're all laughing loudly and throwing food around carelessly.
There's a girl with tight short skirt bossing a poor freshman around with her friends recording it, another girl sitting on the table outing every person that caught her eyes as if they personally insult her entire bloodline, a boy putting her legs on the table as if it were a dashboard with a suspicious smoke curling from his mouth even if there isn't anything close to cigarette or vape in his hands, a couple shamelessly making out while all of that was going on, another boy catcalling every girl he laid his eyes on, and there's Lightning Dust in the middle of all.
She actively smirked wide but she didn't do much. She munches her food in a laid back attitude but mostly stays quiet throughout the whole thing. Sure, she laughed and gossip about something with the arrogant looking boy beside her sometimes, but that's it. No her usual sassy remark, just the unusual calmness.
Sunset pointed at her with her chin to Applejack. “What's up with her?”
Applejack looked up and glanced at Sunset's direction. She blinked at the scene that unfolds in front of her, there's so much going on. “..What in tarnation?”, she mumbled.
“I know right”, Sunset talked back. Not knowing that they're not talking about the same thing.
“Was it always like that?”, Applejack frowned. How come she never really looked at their direction all this time?
Sunset sneered, “Beat me. But I've never seen her that quiet before, she looks like a different person.” She answers without knowing the true meaning behind the country girl's words.
Applejack whipped her head to look at Sunset in confusement, “Huh? What you on about? You call that quiet?”
“I mean, not exactly as quiet as Fluttershy for sure but still quiet in her standards.” Sunset shrugged, still not noticing anything.
Applejack narrowed her eyes looking back and forth between Sunset and the mean kids table. “Sunset. What in tarnation are you talkin’ about?”
Sunset finally looked at Applejack's direction. She scowled, “What are you talking about? Obviously, Lightning Dust! Who else?”
That draws an understanding ‘ah..’ out of Applejack's system. She glanced at the turquoise top girl and nodded her head, now understanding why their conversation didn't seem to click. She chuckled quietly.
Sunset, who's still lost about things, is starting to get irritated, “What?!”
Applejack raised her hand as if to calm an angry chicken, still chuckled quietly. “I think we talked about a different topic earlier, Sunset. You're talking about Lightning, meanwhile I here thought you were talking about them.” She waved her hand at the mean kids in circles, trying to get her point across.
Sunset blinked a few times at that revelation, “Oh.” They both locked eyes before bursting out laughing at their stupidity.
Their laugh caught their friends' attention. Pinkie, intrigued by their laughter even though didn't know the context, started to laugh along. And Pinkie is Pinkie. Their source of happiness, her laughter can make even a middle aged man who never smile after a heart-broken divorce few years crack a tiny smile. So don't blame them if they all start to laugh along just because of Pinkie's.
All of their former conversations were instantly forgotten. An essay, a dress, a certain someone. All of it went away from their mind, bringing them all as they started a new topic together.

Rainbow parked her motorbike in the parking lot before she took off her helmet. She shook her head and ran a hand through her hair. She pulled the key before hopped off, walking leisurely to the looming apartment building in front of her. She greeted the security and receptionist that knew her personally at that point.
“Welcome back, Miss Dash.” The receptionist smiled politely at her.
“Looking great, Haze. Keep up the hard work”, Rainbow winks at him playfully.
Rainbow's uncle, her mom's brother, is the co-investors of this apartment building. She didn't purposefully want the staff to know that, though. She wanted to keep a low profile (so much for the pride colored hair) but then one day her uncle showed up unannounced and sent the whole staff haywire. Since then every time she passed by they always greeted her politely even if she insisted they treat her normally. Now she's friends with almost all of them.
“I will, thank you.” Haze chuckles.
Rainbow grinned at him as she walked away to the elevator. She leaned back and closed her eyes after she got in and clicked the third tallest floor. She can't wait to get to her flat, today is a long day. The elevator dinged and she got out, walking while humming lightly before stopping at the door with 307. She entered the number combination before pushing the door open. Rainbow sighed in content when warmth and a muffled rock band engulfed her.
The smell of something delicious hit her at the same time as a familiar voice rang out from inside. “Took you long enough.”
Rainbow smiled at herself. Quickly took off her shoes and threw her bag recklessly to a nearby couch before fast walking to the kitchen. There, a slim figure with messy blonde hair she knows by heart is cooking something in something Rainbow honestly didn't care about. She walked to the figure and hugged her waist from behind, resting her face in the crooked of her neck and sniffed deep at the smell of warm spicy notes with a hint of sweat that always calms her down.
“Sorry, practice ran late.” She mumbles lazily.
The other girl only hummed acknowledging before continuing humming to the song.
Rainbow looked up and put her chin to their shoulder, “What's for dinner?”
Right after she said that, the blonde turned around so fast making Rainbow letting go of the embrace and backtrack until her back hip hid the counter. The blonde pinned Rainbow with both hands as she brought her head close to whispers something to Rainbow, “You.”
She quickly pulled back when she successfully made Rainbow grow rigid and flustered. She grinned widely when she saw how red her girlfriend's face was. Before Rainbow got the chance to speak, she immediately locked their lips together as her hand moved to the other's waist.
Rainbow sighs as their lips laced together, she puts her arms in the other's neck to fuse their bodies together. The blonde tilted her head, deepened the ferverly kiss. Rainbow drew a sharp intake of breath when she felt a knee between her legs. She gripped the blonde's hair tightly at the friction. A whimper escaped her lips when the knee hit the right spot.
“Nh, Dusty..”
The blonde, Lightning Dust— Rainbow's girlfriend, used that chance to slip her tongue in Rainbow's mouth. Both tongues danced around desperately, saliva mixed together until they can't tell which is which.
Rainbow's hands started to roam around her girlfriend's body. Her ear, piercing, jaw, neck, boobs, stomach, waist, hips, every place she could touch. Lightning's breath got shaky each minute passed by.
Rainbow sucked her girlfriend's lower lip as she squeezed her right boobs simultaneously, drawing a shaky moan from Lightning's lips.
From what feels like eternity, they finally drew apart from each other as their lungs screamed begging for air. They both breathing heavily, hearts racing, nose touching. Magenta orbs locked with yellow ones, both eyes deep with desire.
Then Lightning turned around hastily to turn off the stove before looking back at Rainbow again. She slid her hands on the back of Rainbow's thighs and lifted her up, drawing a surprised sound from her. Rainbow immediately circled her legs on her girlfriend's hips by instinct. She cupped Lightning's face with both hands as she whispered, “I just showered you know.”
“Fuck shower”, Lightning said raspily before continuing kissing Rainbow while she walked them to their shared bedroom.
“No but seriously, babe. What's for dinner? I'm hungry as hell”, Rainbow croaked as she stared at the ‘artwork’ she created on her girlfriend's chest.
“What happened to shower first?”, Lightning scoffed whilst admiring her girlfriend's incredibly sexy naked body covered in bite marks and hickies, she silently congratulates herself because she's the one that pulled this baddie.
Rainbow whine at the mentioned of shower like a naughty child, “I'm too lazyy.” She turned so that she lay on her back staring at the ceiling. “Beside, we already clean anyway.” She added quietly.
Lightning chuckled cutely at her girlfriend's obvious attempt at getting a compliment, “Thank you for the aftercare, hottie.” She peck Rainbow's cheek sweetly.
A giggly smile broke out of Rainbow's face as her gaze fell at the soft feature of her girlfriend. “You're welcome, don't forget to pay for my service.” She said playfully.
Lightning humming lightly, “How about that essay of yours that's due soon?”
A relief gasp rang out of Rainbow's red swollen lips, “No shit! You'd help me with that?”
A genuine rare smile that Lightning only reserves for Rainbow finds its way to her face, “Anything for you, babe.” She put a few strands of multicolored hair behind the ear.
Rainbow gleefully hugged her tight, “Thank you Thank you Thank you! Twi won't help me because she said it was as easy as walking or whatever.” She snorted at the memory.
Lightning rolled her eyes at the mention of her girlfriend's friends, she bites her tongue to not accidentally say bad things about them. Before she parted her abused lips to say anything, Rainbow already got up and gathered their clothes to one pile. Then she opened the closet to get dressed. She purposefully only wears two pieces of clothes, a boxer that got swallowed by an oversize band shirt.
Lightning whistled as Rainbow emerged, “You're trying to ask me for a third round implicitly or what, babe?”
Rainbow rolled her eyes despite the heat in her cheeks, “Oh shut up and get dressed.” She gave her hand to pull Lightning up.
The blonde chuckled as she disappeared to the closet. She chose her usual comfortable wear, a turquoise tank and shorts. Obviously she wears underwear.
“Would you rather die than wear anything other than turquoise?”, even if Rainbow already knows the answer, she likes to ask stupid questions that she already knows the answer just to ragebait that person.
“I would rather kill.” Lightning bumped her hips to Rainbow's as they walked hand in hand to the kitchen.
They passed Tank— Rainbow's tortoise pet, on their way and each greeted him even if he's busy eating and didn't acknowledge both of them.
“Oh I cooked pasta by the way”, Lightning added before she let Rainbow's hand go and made her way to the stove. “Shit it's cold now”, she immediately turned it on again to heat it up. “Give it a sec I'll heat it up.”
Rainbow answered with a short ‘K!’ as she turned her heels back to their bedroom to bring their dirty clothes to the washing machine to wash it immediately. They both didn't have a laundry day because if they had to wait for a specific day to wash them they wouldn't have wearable clothes anymore. Not because they have little amount of clothes, but because they’re an outfit repeater and like to exercise a lot (hypothetical speaking and literally).
Rainbow made her way back to the kitchen and helped set up the plates and utensils after the washing machine started working. Then she walked to the record player to put down the rock band vinyl and switch it with a more slow r&b song to change the mood.
When she came back, Lightning already served both plates and was already seated waiting for Rainbow. The multicolored hair sits and they both eat accompanied by a comfortable melody.
“So”, Rainbow was the one who broke the serene atmosphere right after she finished her last bite. “How's your day?”, she rested her chin in her hand.
Lightning glanced upwards at her girl and shrugged. “The usual. How about you, my hero?”, she grinned sideways as she leaned back before patting her stomach. “Damn, I'm stuffed”, she mumbled.
Rainbow matched her smirk, “Eh, same old same old.” Her eyes narrowed as she remembered something, “Did you have to do that, though?”
A scowl appeared on Lightning, “Do what?”
Rainbow flicked her chin upwards with her own hand irritatedly before glancing to the side and crossed her arms.
Lightning pressed her lips together to stop herself from chuckling but she couldn't help it. A few escaped and instantly Rainbow shot lasers at her. Raising her hands guiltily, Lightning still chuckled as she croaked, “Why? Is my baby jealous?”
Rainbow stiffened at the question, heat made its way back for the nth time that night with full force. She opened her mouth to say something, denied it, but nothing came out. Instead, because the cat's already out of the bag, she huffed and silently mumbles. “Don't do that with anyone again”, she looked at anything but those yellow eyes.
Lightning can't help herself. She got up and leaned across the table to squeeze Rainbow's cheeks together with cute aggression. “Ugh, how can someone be this fucking cute?”
Rainbow was caught off guard by the action, she choked a muffled giggle as she rested her hand on top of Lightning's to calm her girl down.
The blonde tugged her slightly to get up before stealing a quick kiss. They stared at each other in a slightly awkward position, having to slightly bend over a table, but still able to pull a small smile on each other's faces. “I promise”, Lightning whispered.
