Work Text:
8:00 AM-
Red woke up in their quarters, obviously. They looked at the time and noticed it was sharply eight. They figured they should start getting ready to leave their quarters to Navigation. So, they did just that. They put on their uniform. They left their quarters, walking to Navigation.
On their way, they noticed Black in Storage.
"Hey, Black!" Red said, waving their hand.
"The hell you want?" Black responded coldly.
"Oh, I just wanted to say hi." Red answered, not really picking up on Black's nature.
Black just scoffed. Then they realized that maybe Black wasn't too fond of Red talking to them. That stung.
Red continued their path.
"No biggie..."
They thought to themselves.
They finally entered Navigation.
Taking their seat, they started to continue flying the ship.
12:00 PM-
Red was navigating the ship as per usual. Suddenly, rustling could be heard from the vent in the room. Suddenly, Lime pops out. Red flinched.
"Oh, god damn it, Red! Can you quit turning the vents around?!" Lime yelled.
Red laughed.
"I'm not turning the vents around, Lime. You must be mistaken." Red replied.
"Lies! Stupid government lies you're telling me! You're trying to make me lose my job so the government makes more money!" Lime ranted.
"I swear, Lime, I'm not-"
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" Lime screamed, jumping back into the vents.
Red flinched, shrinking into themselves. When Lime left, Red's visor filled with tears. They really were not trying to do anything Lime was saying...
"Stupid Captain. Can't even stand up to your crew. How pathetic."
Thoughts swirled around Red's head. A tear almost fell, but then Red blinked the tears away. They can't just cry over a minor inconvenience.
5:00 PM-
Now it was time for dinner. Red stood up and walked to the cafe. They sat down without getting any food.
A few minutes later, Cyan walked over and sat across from them.
"Hi Red! What was Lime yelling about? I heard them from Storage." Cyan asked.
"Oh, it was just Lime being crazy. No biggie!" Red responded.
"I doubt that. You probably pissed them off using your incompetence somehow." Yellow interjected.
"For real. Don't be so bad at doing your job that Lime has to strain their vocal chords in rage because of you." Brown agreed.
Red stopped talking.
Purple came over and sat down.
"Hey, Redsie." Purple said.
"Hey, Purps." Red mumbled.
6:00 PM-
Red was updating the crew on the ship's progress to Industria.
"The trip is going smoothly. We will get there in approximately two or three days!" Red announced.
"Oh, Red! You need to have more enthusiasm in your tone! You seem miserable, and nobody will listen to you for that! MIRA states that you have to have a positive attitude at all times!" Orange said in this stupid sing song tone.
"Shut up Orange! I do not care what stupid MIRA has to say!" Red yelled.
"Red! You cannot talk to Orange like-" Purple tried to reprimand Red.
"Shut up! Shut up, shut up SHUT UP!!!" Red yelled louder, now shaking.
The crew looked shocked. It was unlike Red to lose their composure like this.
Red sniffled, and their voice trembled and cracked as they spoke.
"I get shit for saying hi to Black, for existing in Lime's proximity, for not smiling to the point of looking creepy for every second of the day! I can't ever stand up for myself! You guys won't let me!" Red sobbed.
Red ran away from the crowd, leaving them flabbergasted. They went into Navigation, falling onto the floor. They banged their head against the wall. They pulled on their fur. They rocked back and forth as their vision blurred.
Somebody runs in.
Purple.
They crouch down to Red's level.
"Hey, hey, hey! Redsie! Don't hurt yourself." Purple gently but firmly restrained Red from banging their head or pulling their fur. They held Red's hands in theirs. They gently pulled the ripped fur from Red's grasp.
"Why would you do that, sweetie?" Purple asked.
Red just bawled their eyes out.
Purple pulled them into a strong embrace.
"Please don't be mad at me." Red murmured through sobs.
"Shhh... let it all out. I'm not mad at you, nobody is. Everything is going to be okay, Redsie." Purple whispered.
Purple adjusted their position, putting their own back against the wall to comfortably hold Red.
Red squeezed Purple as tight as someone with two floating hands could, burying their visor into Purple's shirt.
Eventually, Red's sobs turned into occasional sniffles.
"What happened?" Purple asked.
Red then proceeded to complain about the crewmates who were mean to them. Purple comforted them through it.
Eventually, the room fell into comfortable silence.
7:00 PM-
Purple started to feel Red grow heavier and breathe slower. Knowing Red, Purple knew what that meant. Red was drifting off. While it was cute, The ground wasn't comfortable.
Purple picked Red up and started to carry them to their quarters.
"Purpsssss" Red mumbled.
"Shhh... Go back to sleep."
Purple got to Red's quarters.
They set Red down on the bed and laid down next to them.
Red scooter closer and wrapped their hands around them, snuggling into them.
Purple put a soft blanket over the two, and then returned Red's cuddles. Purple started to hear purring. They felt Red's body vibrating. Oh... Red was purring!
"Aweeee... You're purring, Redsie! How cuteeee..." Purple teased. But in reality, they found Red's purrs adorable as hell.
Red whined.
"I'm not purring.."
"No point in lying." Purple said, pulling Red closer.
"Whatever..." Red replied.
Not long after, Red actually fell asleep without interruptions, and soon Purple followed.
