Chapter Text
As the moon rose, higher and higher into the sky, the vampires awoke. The bloodthirsty beasts rise from their coffins in search for food, this is survival of the fittest. Most vampires are able to get themselves food quite easily but the weaker ones... Such as Squiddo- struggle to keep up and oftenly go hungry for a couple decades before getting lucky.
Squiddo wanted to be a feared and respected vampire amongst her clan, always keeping themselves organized and polite, tho they were one of the few vampires that weren't able to get blood all that easily when it was hunting season.. I mean, considering vampire hunters were getting smarter and faster by the day it is to expect that it would not eat so soon. Broken hearted and with an empty stomach, Squiddo wandered the lonely streets, the only thing accompanying her being the moon and stars. Until-
"GET OUT OF HERE YOU- YOU FRAUD!" They heard an old lady shout in the distance
Squiddo gets a little bit curious, approaching them to see what kind of human drama had started, and that's when they saw Him..
Tall, a bit on the muscular side, missing half of his face, it looked burned off, his hair black and curly tho now stained with some sort of cheap purple paint the old lady threw at him, he seemed desperate, priest outfit ripped a bit and face already full of bruises from the people inside the church.
It didn't know what came over itself.
Squiddo immediately sprinted towards the scene, attacking the old lady and sucking her blood dry, ending the attack with a simple phrase,
"Old hags should be in their coffins already and not out on the streets attacking the young." Squiddo hissed, standing between the, now fallen, old lady and the injured man
She mostly stood there, pupils narrowing into sharp angry slits, like those of a ferocious cat.
The man looked up at Squiddo, that's clearly a vampire!- Yet... It did not scare him?
He gets up, patting his clothes to clean them from the dirty sidewalk, then pats Squiddo on the head.
"Thank you for defending me, Fangs! It's not everyday i get protected by a vampire you know?" He smiles in a clumsy, sweet and playful way.
Squiddo instantly turns around, the pats taking her by surprise, and also how pretty his voice wa-
"Listen i just protected you cause you look like your blood could be really tasty! Don't get the wrong idea alright, priest boy?" They say angrily turning their head away from the man
"My name's Ash, Ashton Swaggart, what's yours?" Ash smiles offering a handshake
"My name is none of you business..." It hisses back, trying to hide it's slightly red-ish pale skin
"I'll call you, Squiddo! cause your hair looks like Squid tentacles" He giggles, grabbing their hand despite them avoiding Ash
Squiddo, almost by reflex, hissed at him and took a few steps back. Not used to humans touching them at all, it felt wrong but also good? NO get your brains together, vampires and humans can't date.
Ash didn't seem fearful at all, mostly just tilting his head in confusion.
"Whoa, i didn't know my hand was made of silver or something.. if it's my rings, don't worry they're fake, just shiny plastic, i can remove them for you" The priest begins taking off all of his jewelry, all of it sounded like cheap plastic immitations.
It stood there, watching as Ash took off his "jewelry" and for a moment, began laughing at him, seeing a human being so pathetic, and for what? to impress a vampire? maybe he knew about Squiddo wanting to kill him but decided to distract her for a while.
After finishing his whole show of taking off rings and chains, the man looked at Squiddos eyes, her blood red eyes seemed so pretty, two pools of crimson with no one to admire, no one to notice their presence.
"Your eyes, they remind me of wine." He says, meaning it as a compliment. "It has such color that only the finest wines can really acquire.. I deeply admire that from you, Squiddo"
the vampire's pupils dilated a bit, no longer slits, she opened a small smile.
In an attempt at a cocky tone, they reply.
"Why thank you priest, it is not everyday i get to talk to a human with good taste" She says, adjusting her pink and yellow monocle. "Say, are you perhaps attempting such flirts on your own absolute will or just to buy yourself more alive time before i kill you?"
"If i didn't want death, i'd have killed you by now." Ash spat.
Something in Squiddo's brain clicked, she had heard his surname before, from a long and dangerous lineage of-
"Son of vampire hunters aren't you?" She says acknowledging the possible threat. "My ancestors have killed many from your lineage before.. i assume you're the son of Pierce and Branzy aren't you?"
Ash laughed, genuinely laughed as he nodded, he wasn't too fond of his folks despite how spoiled rotten they had raised him.
"Bingo! I guess you break the overall vampire stereotype that has been floating around" He claps his hands.
"Stereotype? what does metal printing pages have to do with us vampires?" Squiddo tilts it's head.
"Silly! It has a new meaning nowadays, it means-" GRUMBLE.. he gets interrupted by his stomach grumbling, he's hungry
Squiddo stares at him for a second, and when she was gonna giggle back- GRUMBLE
Her's grumble as well...
They're both hungry
