Winter in Lithuania

Summary:

Initially made for a school assignment with the prompt "Sweet Sorrow"

Notes:

A friend wanted a good ending so I decided to start working on a second chapter. First one is really short since it was for school.

Chapter 1: Winter in Lithuania

Chapter Text

That sweet warmth of Tolys’ hands drew away, in reach of the scarf wrapped around the neck of the same body that hosted them, and Feliks let him. Who was he, not to let himself be pampered? Doted on? Besides, Tolys’ forestry green eyes were back on him, and he had no desire to deny himself as a sight for his friend. Feliks allowed himself to lean into the touch Tolys provided when the plaid green-red-yellow scarf, still warm, was tenderly wrapped around his own neck. “So you’re worried about me.” “Yes, I am. When is there not to worry about you? You’re too careless for your own good.”

Tolys reached to untuck Feliks’ hair—a nice golden blonde—from behind his ear. “Your ear will get cold,” he muses, and Feliks chuckles. “It’ll be fine. I’m pretty tough, y’know? And if you do that, people are gonna think we’re together” Tolys winces at Feliks’ words, pulling his hand back to look, once again, towards the grass. “Right…”

That was one of many evenings similar to this. Feliks would go out to walk, window-shop, or visit someone, and Tolys would inevitably find him, make sure he was warm, then accompany him to wherever he was headed. The coldness of a falling snowflake landed on Feliks’ cheek, and quickly melted.

“Soooo..” Feliks started. “Wanna come with?” His hands, no longer under the cover of Tolys’ own, began to gather the chill back towards them. He fidgeted with his fingers, of which were partially stiffen from the temperature of the air. Tolys hesitates, “Um..I-” He’s quickly cut off as Feliks grabs his sleeve and moves to start dragging him along anyways.

Feliks grins. “We should go to the mall first!” “Wait!” Tolys plants his feet and stops Feliks, who looks back almost curiously. Tolys is usually a bit of a doormat, Feliks can convince him to go anywhere with a bit of teasing and poking, so Feliks is confused.

“I, uh,” Tolys’ voice wavers, “have a date. It’s in a few minutes, sorry, Feliks.” He pulls his arm away to rub the back of his neck, glancing to the side with a sheepish expression. “Maybe some other time?”

Feliks’ heart dropped, and he stared. He stared hard before an unsure grin appeared itself on his face. “Tolys? Having a date? Pssh, I haven’t seen you talk to other people!” He waves the thought off, tugging again at the other’s sleeve. Tolys only pulls his hand back. “No! No, it’s really true, Feliks. I was walking there just before I found you…” “Well, you can just ditch ‘em-” “I’m not leaving my date, Feliks..!”

Tolys looks down bashfully. “I’ve been talking to him alot, and I really do think I want to try something with him, okay..? Let me…” Feliks’ grin wavers, and drops. He finally lets go of his attempts at getting his friend to come with, instead looking away. “Whatever. Whatever you want, Tolys.”

Tolys looks up, suddenly with a pang of guilt when he sees Feliks’ reaction. “I’ll still have time to hang out with you! I promise, I-” “Yeah, yeah, just go to your date. It’s in a few minutes anyways, right?” The brunette pauses. “Right.”

Tolvydas falters before turning away, walking back towards the path. “Sorry.” Feliks ignores his word, and turns back himself, seeking the warmth of his home to help with the aching of his heart, and perhaps some tea.
