Work Text:

What a terribly long fucking week.

Kaburagi open the door to the apartment absolutely wiped out. It was 3 AM and he hadn't had a proper sleep in days. His eye bags looked like they were about about to pop out of his face, and his head was palpitating in pain. The scoop that he was chasing had so much hit potential, and it turned out to be an absolute waste of time. Well, that was just the nature of the job, he was already used to it, but that didn't make it any less frustrating. At least he would have a couple of free days.

He expected the sight of home to heal part of his exhaustion, but the door next to his bedroom's —that usually was left ajar— was now closed, reminding him of another bothersome issue that he still had to take care of.

Damn it, he's still pissed.

First things first, as tired as he was, he felt pretty dirty and decided to take a quick shower, put on some pijamas, and swallow a pill of Tylenol. As he went to bed, he paused to once again look at the pesky shut door.

He never entered Onoe's room. Didn't really had a reason to do so. If they wanted to sleep together, Kaburagi's bed would do because it was bigger. If one of them had to work till late, they'll sleep separately to not wake the other up; but even then, Onoe didn't completely close the door; something about having an uneasy feeling whenever he felt trapped. Regardless, point being he knew that Kaburagi wasn't going to step in, so he was presumably conveying a message: «fuck you», Kaburagi guesses.

Whatever, it was just another of their usual spats induced by fatigue. They'll talk about it over once the end-year crunch finishes. Right now he really needed to sleep, he was not gonna ponder about it. He went to his room and crashed on the bed.

He did end up pondering about it.

Work had been so busy that he had barely seen Onoe in the past three weeks. By the time he arrived home, he was already sleeping, and now, because of their silly fight and stupid pride, they were also avoiding each other at work. However, his bad luck in finding good tips and a recent investigation of corporate corruption that had to be halted because of a sudden loss of sources and hyper-wary targets had him feeling quite angry and dejected, which made him unusually needy for attention and missing him.

Since he wasn't falling asleep, he sought for his phone on the nightstand —the screen light causing him to scrunch his eyes— and searched for his remedy: the Onoe picture album. It had the opposite effect though. The dumbass face on display of a man with his cheeks stuffed while cheerfully eating made the bed feel colder and the room more lonely. Truly, this was not the rest he had been wanting all day.

Fuck it.

He stood up and decisively walked to his objective. Opened the door as quietly as possible (at least he didn't lock it) and was greeted by Onoe's back. He gently raised the covers and slowly got on the bed as to not wake–

"Hey, what do you even have your room for?! Get out!"

Welp, seems like he had already been awake.

"Don't yell, or the neighbors will sue us", Kaburagi retorted, "Now, move aside and make some space"

"Aren't you the one who said we should have separated rooms for whenever we fight?! Why are you here now?! We are in the middle of an argument!"

He did say that. The ulterior motive was to prevent him going to cry his eyes out to Masa-yan though. Not that he knew that.

"Are we? I'll apologize then. I'm sorry. Now, move"

"There was absolutely nothing sincere about that!"

"I'm being honest"

"You...!", he cut himself off and let out an annoyed sigh, then turned around, "Argh, whatever. I have to wake up in two hours! Just go to sleep"

Seems like he won the battle. He lay down and spooned Onoe, burying his face on his shoulder as he kissed it. He felt Onoe's heart race a little and his body getting warmer. What a goof.

It had been a long time since he slept in Onoe's bed. Though he used to complain about its narrowness, now he was sort of appreciating the way it forced them to stick close to each other. The scene reminded him of the time they lived separately, when he basically spent all his time on Onoe's bachelor apartment. Back then, he still crashed on his bed even while they were arguing by abusing the power of his duplicate key, receiving the exact same reaction as today. They never really changed, he thought, with a faint smile.

The figure on his arms quickly fell asleep and relaxation hit him hard, drowsiness consuming him. His chest was full of sappy warm-fuzzy feelings. He felt like he was laying in the most comfortable mattress in the world. He was no longer cold.

He finally drop off to Dreamland.

Notes:

Thanks for your time!
I don't usually write fics (I can only count a little couple that I eventually deleted). In fact, I just don't usually write xD, but I love this manga so, so much and the fact that there is no content kills me!!!! "Fine, I'll do it" I said, and here I am. As the tag says, I am not a native English speaker, so sorry if there is some unnatural sounding sentences. I'm gonna try posting more small stories. Won't promise anything though
Thanks to my bestie for helping me correct some things <33
