Work Text:

Kuromi and my Melodys anniversary was coming up two weeks from now. They were both stressing to prepare for the date, regardless of the fact the two partners decided prior to just have a simple, mostly uneventful movie night at Kuromi's house that evening seeing as both the girls had their respective shops to run and could barely afford time off.

Kuromi sat at her desk, a small notepad in front of her with tiny notes of small gifts and gestures she could do for her girlfriend. She knew that her and Melo decided to just relax together with some popcorn but she couldn't help it! She wanted My Melody to feel loved and cherished even a fraction of how she saw her. Kuromi's list consisted of her favorite flowers (daisies), her favorite sweets (strawberry shortcake), her favorite color (pink obviously), and a bunch of other things she just knew her girlfriend would love.

A small pink bag with white tissue paper sat in the second drawer of her nightstand, a small birthday cake scented candle sat inside next to a matching hairclip and bracelet set. She had seen the jewelry on her girlfriends wish list on her fridge at home and ordered it online as soon as she got home the next morning. The candle was something she spotted at the market when she went out with Badtz Maru after an early day while Melody was still finishing up at the bakery. The candle had pastel sprinkles painted around the edges and a small pink satin bow wrapped around the circumference of the candle. She also planned on baking her a personalized strawberry shortcake just for the movie. It was simple but even a small gift would be special to her loving partner.

My Melody paced around her living room looking at the light pink and purple sticky notes she had plastered around her coffee table, neatly organized and in order chronologically. She tapped her chin thinking trying to mentally sort out what gift or gifts her partner would most want without going overboard on what they decided was a simple gift-less movie night. Her girlfriend had been eyeing a purple and black bike helmet at a small shop in the mall but never got around to buying it. it was a simple gift but a new helmet is important! A helmet is for safety not just some fun gift, if anything Kuromi needed it.

Melody placed the sticky note into her purse after deciding that one was a must. She glanced at the table once more going over approximately dozen or so sticky notes trying to find out one or 2 more small gifts she could get her girlfriend without going too far over the plan. She didn't want to upset her at all! she wanted to make her feel loved but not bad for sticking with their plan for the night. Eventually My Melody decided on getting her a new charm for Baku and a new nail polish in a dark purple shade she thought her girlfriend would like.

Moving carefully she placed the charm and nail polish into a small iridescent purple box and wrapped it with a black laced bow. She did also plan on providing popcorn and sweet drinks for her and her girlfriend so this should be perfect!

After two painfully busy weeks of working their respective jobs the 2 girlfriends finally had the day off planning to do the movie night this evening. My Melody grabbed the small purple box in one hand and the helmet in the other with a small pink, purple, and black bow, given that the helmet couldn't fit in any box she had. She also carried a small pale pink denim satchel, a few purple lilacs embroidered on the pouches. The satchel had 2 bags of microwave popcorn, some ramune, mini m&ms, and a few strawberry and grape flavored gummies.

Melody walked over to Kuromis' house on time thankfully to meet there at the planned time, as she approached the door she held the helmet behind her back so her girlfriend wouldn't see it the second she opened the door. Melody raised her mostly empty hand to knock just as Kuromi opened the door for her face attempting to be neutral but a small blush and upwards twitch of her mouth betraying how she really felt.

"Hey Melo! Sorry I saw you through the window and figured it would be easier to just open the door for you." Kuromi chimed out, stepping to the side of the door to let her girlfriend through. My Melody walked through keeping the helmet a bit hidden behind her trying to keep it from Kuromis' prying eyes.

"Ohhh whatcha got there Melo? Something for me?" She teased with no real heat, trying to peer behind her girlfriend, a small smirk resting on her face. "I thought we said no gifts my love, hmm?"

"No peaking! I know we said no gifts but I couldn't help it, I just wanted to treat you. And it wasn't too much! Just something simple I promise!" Melody squeaked, nervous that her girlfriend would be irritated or embarrassed at going back on the agreement.

"Yeah well, I can't really judge. I may have also gotten you a gift or two as well." Kuromi said rubbing the back of her neck, looking away from her girlfriend, a faint blush painting her face.

"Oh, wait really?" My Melody asked hesitantly, her girlfriend wasn't normally one for big celebrations, yes an occasional gift here and there but to get her a gift when they agreed they were needed was totally unexpected. Kuromi nodded and closed the front door walking towards the living room gesturing over her shoulder for Melo to follow.

My Melody continued walking over to the living room seeing a small, pink gift bag waiting on the coffee table. Next to the table was a 2 small decorated cupcakes, both matching their respective colours, sprinkles cascading down the carefully placed icing on top. The couch had some of My Melodys favorite pillows and blankets as well as the matching stuffed animals they got at the store not too long ago.

"Oh Kuro… you really didn't have to do any of this for me, I thought we were just going to do a small movie night with popcorn?"

"Yeah well, you didn't follow that either now did you?" Kuromi tried to sound a bit sarcastic although it came off a bit embarrassed. "Anyways why don't we sit and I'll give you your gift and you'll give me mine?"

Melody nodded and they sat next to each other on the couch, handing over the pink gift bag and the purple gift box. "I uhm, I also got you this but I wasn't quite sure how to wrap it." She said handing over the helmet that she had brought for Kuromi.

Her girlfriends eyes lit up, quickly yanking the helmet from Melodys hands. "No way! You got me the helmet from the display at the mall? I was gonna buy it next week! Thank you so much Melo, I can't believe you remembered!" Kuromi nearly shouted out leaving her girlfriend a bit stunned at the display.

"Of course! It was obvious you wanted it and I thought it wouldn't be too much of a big gift for tonight." Melody said while removing the tissue paper from the gift bag.

Kuromi watched her girlfriend carefully take out the tissue paper, gently taking out the candle. Taking a small sniff of the candle she exclaimed. "Oh my gosh, this smells amazing Kuro! Thank you so much." Spotting the jewelery in the bottom she reached in and grabbed it, lifting it up to the light. "Oh, Kuromi, my love. How did you know I wanted this?"

"I may have seen it on a sticky note on your fridge?" Kuromi hesitantly replied.

Melody gestured to the unopened box on Kuromis lap. "Well? Aren't you going to open it?" Melody giggled.

Kuromi gently opened the box lid, glancing down at the contents of the box, a small black charm presumably for Baku and a cute aubergine colored nail polish next to it in the box. "Oh Melo these are adorable! Thank you so much love."

"Of course! Thank you as well for the cupcakes and the blankets and everything." My Melody chuckled hugging her girlfriend. "Happy anniversary Kuromi."

"Thank you as well, Melo, and happy anniversary to you too." Kuromi blushed, arm resting on her girlfriends back, giving her a small peck on the cheek. "Now why don't we watch that movie huh?" My Melody nodded to her partners question, the two girls settled down with their snacks, drinks, and treats, wrapped in each others loving embrace, enjoying the uncommon free time to each other.
