The Town Finds Out

Summary:

When Mayor Luskey catches Charlie in the forest before the night of the Blood Moon, he thinks it was to protect the Zoanthropes and he attempts to subject him into humiliation... which turns out to be a disaster for the both of them.

Notes:

Y'all... this took so long both because of school and writer's block... I'm so sorry! Here's the next main story of Family of Werewolves. It's an intense one!

Work Text:

There have already been efforts to get the practice of Zoan Hunting banned in countries like Japan, Australia, and most famously, the United Kingdom. Law enforcement in these countries work to arrest these hunters much like how one would arrest a poacher.

In the United States, more than half of the fifty states have banned the practice of Zoan Hunting, mostly in the west, midwest, and mid-Atlantic areas. The rest of the states have varying practices, some big, some small.

With the division between pro and anti Zoan hunting states, there have been efforts to either make the practice legal or illegal in all states for around sixty years. Experts say that the result of this will not come without a lot of fighting from both sides.

Chase closed his book and vented heavily. The argument of Zoan hunting would be solved with a lot of research on how they live during the full moon. That was how the countries listed in that copy got the practice banned, much to the delight of the marginalized shapeshifters.

That was for another time, though. Tonight was the long awaited Blood Moon, a phenomenon where, as described, the moon reflects a blood-like red in the sky and brings out a side to the Zoanthropes that make them more powerful than they already are.

The Rescue Bot knew that there were many misconceptions about the Blood Moon, such as the thought that it makes Zoanthropes more aggressive than they already are. In truth, the shapeshifters just grow stronger and are more averse to non-Zoans, meaning that they'll hide from them more than they already do.

It'll be hard to convince the townsfolk, though. They're very far into their crusade to kill.

Chase looked at his teammates along with the Burnses and Greenes as they were setting up camp in their usual area. Normally, the Greenes wouldn't be there, as Doc would be controlling the AutoZoans from his temporary lab since he was terminated from his job.

The bot had watched Doc's replacement, Dr. Morocco, do his research in the island's lab. There was something deep within that other doctor, but Chase couldn't get a grasp on what it was.

"You alright there, partner?"

The chief's voice grabbed the police bot's attention. "I'm... fine, sir. It's just..."

"I know, Chase," Charlie sighed. "We'll be fine, even with the big hunt that the mayor will initiate. There's lots of escape routes in case we're ever found. Remember?"

Chase nodded. "I know... I have to get myself in order because I swore to protect you and your family from the Zoan hunters,"

"It's a tough job, but I know you're capable of helping us. All of you are,"

The chief's warm smile seemed to keep the bot's feelings grounded as his shoulder plates tensed down. "Thank you, sir,"

"Don't forget!" Cody shouted as he was putting wood in the campfire. "Doc and Frankie are helping us tonight! Frankie in particular learned fast, as she knows the skills to control a Ursathrope AutoZoan now!"

Frankie gave a thumbs up to Chase as she was practicing the controls of the machine. "It was hard at first, but the oath to protect the Burnses was what got me through. You see this?!"

A bit of controls had the robot werebear run and swipe against a tree. Frankie kept controlling it as she talked. "Because the werebear is a bit slow, Dad advised me to use the bear to swipe weapons out of hunters' hands without hurting them. It'll be helpful since our task is to disarm,"

Chase watched with interest as the girl explained the AutoZoan and how Ursathropes live when he heard a yell coming from the trees.

"Did anyone hear that?!"

The silence from everyone gave the police bot the answer, but Boulder was the one to actually say it. "What in the Allspark was that?!"

"A-Are the hunters already here?!" Blades stammered.

"No," Heatwave replied as he got into a fighting pose. "Luskey said there'd be a meeting at City Hall before the Blood Moon hunt began. People will be showing up there,"

Doc Greene got up and listened for anything else.

"Help me!"

Alarm bells rang in the scientist's ears as he turned to the team. "I think a Zoanthrope is in danger! Should we help them?"

Kade immediately stopped eating to get up. "I'm going! Everyone stay here!"

Dani tried to go faster than her brother. "No, I'm going! Blades, you're coming too!"

Graham tried to settle the situation. "Guys, this isn't the time to fight! I think we'll all have to help whoever is in need of assistance,"

The voice in the area called out again. "Someone call the police!"

Chase's attention was fully grabbed now. He couldn't go yet, however. He needed a cue.

"Let's go, partner," The chief said.

"I'll assist in any way I need to,"

Chase transformed and opened his car door for Charlie to get in. Once the chief was in, the duo started driving.

As Charlie was heading near the source of where the shouts were coming from, he continued listening for the sounds.

"Turn on the sirens!" The voice shouted.

The Rescue Bot did just that, sounding his sirens to let the voice know he was coming.

"Have no fear, citizen," Chase said in his robot voice. "I will be with you soon,"

The source of the sound screamed once more. "Please!"

Chase eventually had to transform into his bot mode so that he could navigate through the trees.

"Careful, Chase," Chief Burns told his partner as they walked through the foliage. "I don't want you getting hurt,"

"Yes, sir. It'll be difficult to assist people when I'm hurt,"

The Rescue Bot took around a minute to get as close as he could to the source of the frantic calls for help. Once he was there, he called out in his robotic voice.

"Attention, citizen. You must show yourself in order to be assisted by us. Come out and do not be afraid,"

There was no response, however. Charlie gestured to Chase to get out of the bot's cab, and he obliged.

Once the chief was out, he walked through the grassy area while speaking from a small megaphone. "Don't be afraid. We'll get you the help you need if you can cooperate with us,"

All it took was one wrong step in the calf-high grass for Charlie to realize what had been up. That step activated the trap that had been modified for a human.

The old man yelped as his ankle was dragged up with the rope that ensnared it. Before he knew it, he was dangling from the tree upside down.

"Chief!" Chase shouted with worry. "Hold on, let me untie you!"

Before the bot could do that, he was stopped in his tracks when he heard two familiar voices.

"I told you that the classic spring pole snare worked for humans. Looks like we got who we wanted..."

"Ah, Chief Charlie Burns. I always suspected it,"

Mayor Luskey and Dr. Morocco appeared from the shadows. Charlie gestured to Chase to stand still so that the bot wouldn't blow his cover.

The chief then turned to the two leaders in front of him. "Unhand me, you cowards! There was an emergency over here and you're preventing me from acting upon it!"

Luskey chuckled as he pulled out a voice-altering microphone. "Oh, Chief. You're so naive to fall for this trick. This is Griffin Rock, remember?"

Charlie's eyes widened before he got angry. "Okay, now you're really a coward! Do you think falsifying a police report is funny?!"

"We didn't do it for jokes, sir," Dr. Morocco was cutting up the rope that was holding the chief as he spoke. "Mayor Luskey has suspected that you were committing treason by assisting the Zoanthropes who look to kill,"

"What?!"

The chief didn't get a chance to respond as the rope snapped and he fell to the ground. As soon as he hit the grass, Luskey and Morocco worked on tying him up by his wrists and ankles.

"You're making a big mistake, the both of you!" Charlie shouted with fury. "I have told you that I'm not a hunter simply because my family and I are too busy with rescues!"

"I am aware of that," The scientist remarked. "But your former association with Doctor Greene makes you a suspect of interest, as he would be the one to turn you to the dark side,"

"I'm afraid that's not making a lot of sense," The chief responded with his brand of snark.

A punch to the face by the mayor made Charlie grunt in surprised pain. "Ow! Mayor Luskey-"

"Silence, you traitor! You better be fucking ashamed of yourself!"

"Now, let's not get too ahead of ourselves so soon, Mayor," Dr. Morocco grumbled. "We'll have him in front of our hunters soon,"

"Wait, what?!" The chief was obviously confused as to what was going on.

Luskey took a deep breath before responding to the scientist. "You're right. Chief Burns needs the lesson from all of the hunters, not me,"

Dr. Morocco nodded. "Let's go, then. City Hall must be waiting for us by now,"

"Wait, no, unhand me-!"

The mayor and the other doctor lifted the chief up. Charlie struggled in his bonds and looked up to the horrified Chase.

"Robot! Tell the others that I need help! Go, now- mmph!"

Thank Primus that Luskey chose to gag the chief after he got his words out to Chase, because the Rescue Bot obliged to the command with urgency.

"I guess that command tells me that your family is in this, too?" The politician sneered as he carried Charlie.

The chief could only grumble against his gag.

"We'll deal with them later," Dr. Morocco calmly said. "Their patriarch will bring them to us where we can scrutinize them as well,"

"Grrmph!" Charlie tried to remove his binds to no avail as he felt himself be taken to town.

-----<3-----

When Chase returned without the chief, the team and the Greenes were panicked.

"What the fuck happened to Dad?!" Kade shouted with concerned anger.

Chase took panicked vents as he responded.

"The chief... he's been taken by the mayor and Dr. Morocco..."

Cody had a horrified look on his face as he responded. "How did they get him?!"

"He was caught in a trap...I couldn't respond because it'd blow my cover... Chief knew, too..."

Doc Greene was the only one in the camp that was quickly trying to come up with a plan. Frankie watched him with worried anticipation as the bots and Burnses were arguing about the situation.

"Dad... what now?" Frankie mumbled.

The true inventor took a few more seconds before responding. "Chase, bring me with you,"

-----<3-----

Charlie had been untied and ungagged when he and his captors got close to City Hall. When that happened, he was yelling and kicking against them both.

"Let go! I swear to God I'll arrest you both!"

"You have no authority now, Burns!" Luskey barked. "Treason gets you into this mess!"

"Mayor," Dr. Morocco queried. "We can't risk him getting out of here. We'll have to place him in a glass cage.

"And where will we get one?"

The tall scientist called upon his Morbot with the click of a button on his collar, and like a butler, the robot showed up with a glass box.

"You're not putting me in there!" Charlie shouted. He kept trying to twist himself out of the iron grip of his captors.

"Careful, Mayor," Dr. Morocco warned as he maintained his grip on the wrists. "Don't let him kick you. Think of this as trying to put a resisting criminal in a police car,"

"I bet our tratior has some experience!" The mayor chuckled as he saw the Morbot open the glass door.

Chief Burns grunted as he tried to make Luskey let go of his legs to no avail.

"Stop resisting, dammit!"

"You're being really irrational, Mayor! I was thinking that a regular hiker needed help!"

"During Blood Moon night?! Hell no! No one's stupid enough to walk there during that time!"

"Maybe they were about to head home before the full moon came or-"

A punch to the nose shut Charlie up as he coughed and wheezed. The area that Luskey punched was starting to bleed.

The disorientation was enough for the mayor and Dr. Morocco to get the chief into the glass box enough for the Morbot to close it.

When Charlie snapped out of his pain, he banged on the glass to no avail. "Let me out! This is insane and irrational!"

The scientist cleared his throat. "We're truly sorry, Chief, but we can't let anyone get in the way of ridding Griffin Rock of its Zoanthropes once and for all. Besides, the glass is rather sturdy, so don't try to break it,"

The doors to City Hall were opened by two people stepping out to see what was happening.

"Sweetie, who did you bring?"

"Oh, come on Barbara! It's clear that they've caught one of our top beast lover suspects!"

Mrs. Luskey and Huxley Prescott were rushing to see Mayor Luskey and Dr. Morocco with the captured chief, eager to see him in such an unfortunate circumstance.

"Well, well, well" Prescott chuckled evilly. "Looks like we've got ourselves a caged flame,"

Charlie was livid as he heard that. "This is unjust! Just let me go so I can continue my business!"

"By saving those beasts?" Barbara sneered. "You're on the wrong side here, Charles,"

"Enough gloating," Dr. Morocco said. "We're just about to start the town meeting,"

The other doctor ordered the Morbot to carry Chief Burns into City Hall. The rest followed the machine to the building.

None of them noticed how Charlie's nose healed in minutes.

-----<3-----

Doc Greene observed City Hall inside of Chase's cab, watching how the Morbot kept Chief Burns captive inside the glass box.

"Not good..." The scientist muttered. "The entire town will find out the secret if it goes on for too long!"

"It's crucial we act fast," Chase was trying to think of a plan to get into City Hall and make a believable distraction, but the entire area had activated its security procedures with Dr. Morocco's inventions.

"It'll be hard, but I've got my Lycan AutoZoan once the hunt begins, so I think we should be alright for now,"

A drone camera turned to the two of them, and they both froze, hoping not to be seen as a threat to the machine.

-----<3-----

The crowd was wild in City Hall when they saw Chief Burns in the glass box, booing and shouting at him.

"Shame on you!"

"Betrayal!"

"We knew all along!"

Charlie looked down with shame as he was kneeling, not because of his actions, but because of how much his town had fallen for Luskey's propaganda.

The chief was at the left side of the podium where the mayor will give out his before-hunt speech. His glass prison was being guarded by a reluctant Mr. Alper and Ms. Janet. They both looked like they wanted to free him, but doing so was treason.

Meanwhile, Charlie could also see Mr. Prescott's camera getting ready to record both him and the mayor for when the speech will start.

Eventually, Luskey, along with his wife, walked up to the podium.

"Everyone, settle down!" Barbara shouted "I know that the revelation of Chief Burns' betrayal is upsetting, but we have more important things to worry about as of now,"

"Can you at least get me out of here?!" Charlie replied. "The full moon is about to come out and I need to assist in any injury emergency that will happen!"

Huxley Prescott chuckled. "Sorry, Chief, but you're now on camera..."

Mayor Luskey tapped on the microphone at the podium when he heard that, clearing his throat as Dr. Morocco came to his right side.

"Testing, testing... ah, perfect!"

He opened up his arms to greet his Zoan Hunters. "Good evening, everyone! I would first like to thank our new Chief Scientist, Dr. Morocco, for his incredible invention work that will be able to help us in our Blood Moon hunt tonight!"

The mayor turned to the inventor, who was chuckling with a smirk.

"Now, mayor, I don't need to boast on my inventions. I simply knew your town needed help, and I acted on it," Morocco replied with courtesy. "What we could focus on is what our chief has to say,"

"Very well!" Luskey replied. Without turning to the chief, he listened to what he had to say.

"You're getting it all wrong..." Charlie responded, trying not to sound worried. "This entire hunt is a genocide!"

The audience laughed at the chief, truly believing that he was being ridiculous.

Mayor Luskey settled down the crowd before continuing. "As we can see here, Chief Burns had been greatly influenced by Dr. Greene to think that Zoanthropes are harmless when they are really murderers. Well, we'll have to deal with him once the night is over. Right now, it's crucial to listen to how we'll deal with tonight!"

From a small window to Charlie's right, he saw the full moon taking in her entire power, and he realized just how much worse this entire thing will get.

-----<3-----

"Fuck..." Ezra grumbled as he kept trying and failing to get his Lycan AutoZoan through the watchful eyes of the security drones. No matter what he did, it never worked.

Chase also tried to move a little closer in his vehicle form with Doc, but to no avail. "We might have to shut them down somehow. They're restless,"

"Better yet, destroy them!" The true scientist huffed. "They won't destroy themselves!"

The Rescue Bot nodded from his face cam. "Maybe. Doctor Morocco is already no good with his eagerness to cause a genocide,"

Ezra went stiff when he felt the coldness of the night sift in. He knew what that meant.

"Oh no... she's up..."

-----<3-----

The chief felt the first signs of his transformation take place. He grunted painfully as he felt his hands elongate, slamming them on the glass wall.

Charlie's legs started to go through the same digitigrade process as he groaned with increasing pain.

Mr. Alper and Ms. Janet took a few steps back from the box with surprise seeing the chief go through such sudden pain.

Meanwhile, Dr. Morocco had also noticed the transformation with a look of mild curiosity on his face.

Not only that, Mrs. Luskey and Huxley Prescott looked on in horror as they realized what they were looking at. The crowd was seeing this, too, so they were grasping the weapons they had.

"M-Mayor Luskey..!" Mr. Prescott stammered.

"Hold on, sir," He replied before continuing his speech.

Charlie felt his silver fur develop rapidly as his shout turned into a gurgle due to the fangs forming in his teeth.

Some of the hunters were slowly standing up. Milo, in particular, was cocking his gun. As a top hunter, he always had to be prepared.

At this point, Charlie's shouts were now growls as his body grew, his shirt tearing in the process while his eyes turned wild.

The chief's combined howls and whines wouldn't usually be what he made when transforming, but it was what happened when he held back his Lycan form. It's a lot more painful.

"MAYOR LUSKEY!!!" Mr. Prescott screamed with terror as he was ready to run out of the building.

Mrs. Luskey snapped out of her own terror when she pointed and shouted. "Henry!"

The mayor looked at his wife in confusion.

"HENRY!!!"

Mayor Luskey finally turned to the chief and fully realized the terrifying truth with horror.

Charlie growled as his muzzle finally grew along with his tail. The finishing touch to the transformation was the wolf ears as the chief's human ones absorbed into his body.

Some of the hunters were fleeing with terror while others had weapons at the ready.

Dr. Morocco was also getting his Morbot ready to hunt Charlie, but he couldn't do anything in time.

That was because the chief was quickly breaking the glass, with just a few headbutts causing the material to shatter. Mr. Alper and Ms. Janet had to run away from the box so they wouldn't be hurt by the flying glass.

Charlie lept out of the box, sending shards everywhere as he roared.

The flying shards distracted the hunters enough for them to duck instead of shoot, but Milo tried to do that himself.

The double-barrel shotgun missed as the transformed chief ran out of City Hall.

"Shit... Mayor, look what happened when you ignored Mr. Prescott!"

Dr. Morocco sighed. "Don't get mad at him just yet. I guess our hunt starts early. Ready your weapons, everyone!"

-----<3-----

Both Chase and Doc yelped when they saw the doors to City Hall burst wide open. They saw Chief Burns in his Lycan form run out and immediately jumped into action, trying to get to him.

"Chief!" The police bot shouted. "Get in here! We're going to get out!"

The silver wolf ran on all fours to try and get to Chase and Ezra, but he was stopped in his tracks by the MorBot, who stood in his way and aimed its gun.

"Not good!" The scientist muttered. "I gotta distract it!"

Doc got the AutoZoan to try and trick the machine into chasing after it instead of Charlie. Unfortunately, it seemed to have been prepared for the fake Zoan because it completely ignored it, still shooting at the panicked wolf.

The Rescue Bot had a plan, but it was very risky. Even if Chase was going to blow his cover like this, he had to do something to protect his chief.

"Doctor Greene, exit my cab!"

"What?!" The scientist squawked.

"Trust me! Get the chief back to the camp as best as you can!"

"What are you gonna do?!"

"Just go, Doctor!"

Greene got out of the cab before the Rescue Bot transformed. Once Chase did, he shouted at the MorBot while Ezra ushered Charlie out of the area.

"MorBot! You are contributing to a genocide that will destroy a society of humans!"

The machine turned to Chase, aiming at him now. The police bot got into a fighting stance, waiting for any movement.

"If you're going to shoot me, do not expect to make a hit!"

-----<3-----

Charlie's ears drooped as he saw Chase confront the MorBot. It was obvious he was worried for his partner.

Doc was also seeing this go down. He sighed as he lifted up the remote to his AutoZoan.

"Let's go, Chief,"

The two of them had to quickly exit the area near City Hall, getting to the forest so they are better hidden. Greene steered his AutoZoan while trying to keep Burns in his sight.

It was a few minutes of walking when Charlie's ears perked up.

"What's wrong?"

The Lycan just growled. It seemed he was sensing danger, so the scientist steered his robot werewolf where Charlie was facing. The more they could divert people, the better.

-----<3-----

Chase was going nowhere with the Morbot. No matter what he did, the machine was one step ahead of him as it blocked every move. The Rescue Bot vented heavily as he had yet another narrow miss.

"Primus fragging dammit!" Chase grumbled. "Just let us fight and get this over with!"

The Morbot turned around and aimed at him. Its gun was powering up, ready to kill the police bot no matter where he ran.

That was until it suddenly stopped to listen to a message sent to it.

"Morbot!" Dr. Morocco barked in its comm link. "Get yourself over here so we can search for Chief Burns!"

Without hesitation, the Morbot ran out of City Hall's parking lot, leaving Chase there.

"Coward.." The Rescue Bot sneered.

-----<3-----

Charlie and Ezra were walking slowly in the foliage, not wanting to alert any of the hunters who may be in the area. The chief was on his hind legs to minimize his footsteps. Being part-quadrupedal meant he could walk on all fours and his hind legs, but he couldn't be on the hinds for too long. It's very uncomfortable.

Greene looked at his map from the AutoZoan controller, letting out a sigh of relief.

"We're almost to the camp, Charlie"

The werewolf nodded as he had to get back on all fours quietly. After that, he followed the inventor through the homestretch of the forest. They both couldn't wait to return.

One issue, however... Doc had a really, really terrible gut feeling, like he was about to throw up at any moment. It was very rare when it happened, but it certainly meant that there was trouble brewing.

And trouble there was. A few seconds later, a gunshot rang out in the forest so loud that Ezra's ears were almost ringing, but not enough to not hear the yelp that came from Charlie.

The scientist's heart dropped hearing the sound. "CHARLIE!"

He ran to the Lycanthrope, who had been knocked down to the ground from the gunshot he was the victim of. Ezra turned on his flashlight to look for injuries, and there was the issue.

A bullet grazing on the wolf's left hind leg. Since the bullet was most certainly silver, that was gonna leave a mark.

"Shit... the blood's pouring out... not good!"

Ezra put pressure on the wound, but he knew that whoever shot Charlie was now most likely barreling straight towards them.

"Hey, aren't you supposed to be out of Griffin Rock by now?!"

Oh no... it's too late to get out without issues, for Milo had shown up. He saw the AutoZoan remote, too, so while Greene was occupied with trying to stop the blood flow, the blond hunter picked the remote up.

"So... this is the remote you used to make a bad example of me last full moon, eh?"

Ezra tried to grab the remote, but Milo held it out of reach.

"Give me that! You don't have the right to steal my property!"

"Why bother?" The hunter sneered. "You got sacked for being a beast lover!"

Without hesitation, Milo threw the remote to the ground, which shattered the screen and caused smoke to release from it.

"NO!"

"That's what you get!" The young hunter shouted with schadenfreude. "No more trickery from you, good doctor!"

Said doctor was feeling helpless as he was faced with having to carry the injured Charlie back to the camp without Milo seeing them and the Lycan bleeding to death.

"Looks like you're stuck now," Milo said as he cocked his gun. "Sorry, but you lose"

Taking aim against the chief, the killer was just about ready to take the final blow, and Charlie looked on with fear.

ROAAAAAAR

"What the fuck?!" Milo snapped at the direction where the roar came from.

The confusion bought Ezra precious time to pick up the Lycan chief, hold his wound tightly, and try running out of the area.

The hunter tried to aim at the both of them with his gun again. "Get back here!"

Before Milo could open fire, the weapon he was holding got swatted out of his hands. Pretty far, too regarding the circumstances.

Those circumstances were that a literal bear, most likely a werebear, was facing him.

The young killer screamed with terror as he ran off to turn on his com-link . Turns out that when faced with real danger without his precious gun, he's really just a coward.

-----<3-----

It took a bit for Ezra to realize that the werebear that was scaring Milo was most likely not going to harm him, but it was most certainly going to distract him.

He knew what the bear really was, and it made him smile proudly. Still, he had to keep going on carrying Charlie back to the base.

Problem was, an eight-foot muscular werewolf was extremely hard to carry. Carrying the chief in his human form is hard enough!

Not only that, although the blood seemed to stop flowing out of the Lycan's leg, it still provided a major risk to his life if it started bleeding again, so Ezra had to find a way to wrap it up at the camp.

Charlie, meanwhile, was trying to nudge his friend to get his attention.

"What? Is something up?"

The werewolf pointed to the ground in response.

"No, I'm not letting you walk! Your wound could bleed out again!"

Charlie tried to insist by attempting to touch the ground, but Ezra kept him on the air.

"I said no! I know you're heavy, but I'm not letting you die because you bled out of your hind leg!"

"No one is dying tonight,"

The Lycan and the scientist turned their heads towards the familiar voice.

It seemed that Chase had returned unscathed and already in his alt mode, so Ezra was asking a lot of questions about the MorBot.

"What happened?! Did the Morbot hurt you in any way?! How did you fight it?!"

"No questions, doctor. Get yourself and the chief in my cab. I heard what happened. We need to return rapidly,"

No more words were uttered by the scientist as he carefully brought Charlie into the backseat before getting in the driver's seat himself.

Once Ezra and Charlie were secured, Chase drove off, making sure to stay hidden.

-----<3-----

The Burns siblings, now in their Lycan forms, were getting worried for their dad at this point. The rest of the Rescue Bots as well as Frankie were trying to soothe them as the Blood Moon drew closer each minute.

Frankie kept petting the back of Cody's ears as she controlled the werebear AutoZoan. While she was satisfied with scaring the crap out of one of the most loyal hunters, the young girl knew that there was still more to do to prevent her friend and his family from being found.

"I saw Chase..." Frankie whispered to the blond Lycan. "He found our dads..."

Cody whined pitifully, knowing that something was wrong with his father.

"I saw it, too. My dad will help yours. I promise,"

Everyone in the camp perked up when they heard Chase's tires on the ground. The police bot had returned safely, but when Ezra came out the cab and gently retrieved the injured Charlie, the grim truth was seen.

Chase transformed to his bot form and tried explaining everything as the true scientist searched for his medkit.

"The town... they found out that the chief was a Lycanthrope... they're on a manhunt for him..."

"What?!" Heatwave shouted. "How did they find out?!"

"Based on what I saw, it seemed that Chief was taken to City Hall and was stuck there until the moon rose..."

"This is bad!" Blades panicked. "What are we going to do?!"

Boulder tried calming Blades. "We made a vow to protect them if anyone found out. We'll get through this,"

While the bots were discussing, Frankie and the Burns siblings watched with worry as Ezra found the medkit and opened it to start his treatment on Charlie. First, he had to clean the wound with antiseptic.

That part was a huge pain for the chief as he growled and groaned. His children tried to ease him as the scientist was treating the injury.

"Easy now," Ezra whispered. "It won't take long,"

The scientist was right, as he finished with the antiseptic around ten seconds later. All he had to do now was simply put an ointment on the wound, cover it with cloth, and wrap it with a bandage.

Again, Charlie growled with pain when the ointment was applied, but it wasn't bad compared to the antiseptic. It also lasted a lot shorter.

Finally, Ezra placed the cloth on the wound and wrapped it with the bandage.

"There. Since the injury was a grazing, that wound should heal for a few weeks,"

Frankie was getting a bit worried again. "...but I think we may have to move... the townsfolk won't give up, especially tonight,"

Heatwave approached the Burnses and the Greenes with that. "Don't forget this; you can count on us to help. If Chase did his job with ease, imagine all of us,"

"...promise?" The girl murmured.

The fire bot nodded. "Promise,"

Chase, Boulder, and Blades were in solidarity with Heatwave, letting the Burnses and the Greenes rest at the camp for a bit. Ezra decided to give Frankie a break by taking control of the bear AutoZoan.

Despite everything, it seemed that all of them will be fine and the night will pass with no issues.

...right?
