“Thats not fair.” Eve whined, hands clenched into tight fists, glaring down her nose at Selena. “How come Soren gets to go into town but not me?”
“Because he’s proved he can handle it.” Selena replies, waving a clawed hand dismissively. “And you have not.”
“I watched him punch a hole into the mast three days ago!” Eve exclaims, throwing her hands out in exasperation. “How do you know it won't be someone's face next?” Eve pouts as her captain sighs.
“He’s never punched anyone that didn't deserve it. You, on the other hand, nearly got us all captured because you stole a bunch of pearls from some crazy rich lady.” Selena reminds Eve, giving her a pointed look.
“Rav steals stuff all the time!” Eve blurts out, voice filled with a poisonous rage. “You never yell at them!”
“They never get caught so it's never a big deal.” Selena shoots back.
“It's not fair!” Eve snaps, stomping her boot against the floor in a childish display of defiance.
“It is, Cinder, quit complaining and get back to work.” Selena orders sternly.
“But-” She boldly continues to protest anyway.
“Eve.” Selena says warningly.
“But it's not!” Eve cries, “Damn you to the nine rings of Hell!” She shouts over her shoulder as she storms out of Selena’s office. Selena only sighs in response, knowing that Eve doesn't really mean it.
