Once she's finished checking in on Hilbert, having made sure he's tucked in and that the bed, pillow and duvet are all fine, she heads out of the bedroom, quietly closing the door behind her before she leans against the wall.
For the first time in two years, she can breathe normally.
Even sleep properly through the night once again.
Why?
Because her son is home again.
This time, it's for good.
Hopefully.
She's so grateful that he came back after such a long time.
There's no doubt in her mind that he's exhausted.
Worn out.
He'll probably want to spend the next days in bed, resting, recovering.
That's OK.
He'll talk to her when he's ready.
With that, she heads downstairs, ready to enjoy a cup of tea before she too turns in for the night.
