Work Text:
It’s a game with you two to see who broke first.
Sif’s goal was to make you blush, and your goal was to stay composed.
Simple enough, really. You could stay focused when you really wanted to.
But if there’s one thing you’d learned from dating Sif, it’s that they didn’t always play fair.
“Isaaaaaa,” Sif said, their hands squeezing your sides from behind as he leans against your back. “Is it time for cake?”
“Almost,” you replied. “You can have a small bite to take the edge off if you’re hungry.”
In the quiet pause afterward, you knew you made a mistake. The feel of teeth on your butt cheek through your pants made you jump and shout in surprise, rounding on Sif and their mischievous grin.
“Sif!”
They feigned a pout. “You said I could have a bite of cake.”
“I didn’t mean me!”
Siffrin licked their lips. “But you’re delicious, Isa.”
If you weren’t already blushing, that’d be two points to Sif.
“No cannibalism, Sif. I’m not what’s for dinner.”
Sif made that face reserved for making puns.
“Are you sure?” He looked you up and down. “Because I could just eat you up, Isa.”
NOT THE PUNS! CRITICAL STRIKE!
You’re bent over laughing, face hot and lungs hacking. You had to throw in the towel! Your poor heart couldn't take any more.
“I-I-I c-could’ve been holding something and dropped it just now.”
Sif shrugged. “I saw you weren’t. And besides, your hands can always be open just to hold me.”
Cheesy, but cuuuuuute. He could tell it didn’t land so well, considering the way he bobbed his head like he was weighing it in their mind.
“I see what you’re doing, Sif.” You crossed your arms, regaining some semblance of control. “This rapid fire tactic to break down my walls. I’m onto you.”
“Oh, you’re not on me yet,” Sif said, stepping close into your space. “But you will be all over me soon.” His eyes and his smile promised you so much, and you finally squealed like a tea kettle, face in your hands.
“I yield. You’re too powerful, Sif.”
They stepped back with that smug grin peeking over the top of their cloak. “How many was that?”
“Three to nil, in your favor.” You wanted to squish out the heat from your cheeks, but that wouldn’t do anything now. “It’s not fair. You’re so much better at flirting. You didn’t even need to before.”
“Well, now that I know how to make you blush, I want to practice more.”
“You’re certainly getting good at it.”
It’s not like the first time when they gave you a flower and told you what that meant, that you’re someone important to them. You blushed hard, flattered and heart full, but everyone got a flower then, so you didn’t think you were special.
But here, this game was special to you. Only they got to see you like this, and they’re the only one you didn’t mind seeing.
