"She really has lovely manners!" Bunny beamed right after her joke about Alice liking coffee.
Gemma was waiting for her mum to address the elephant in the room that a coach visiting your house twice in one day is incredibly abnormal.
"So, do you have any other requests for decorations in this room?" Bunny asked, continuing to adjust her freshly bought vase. "You're going to be stuck in here a lot, might as well spruce it up!"
Was she really just pivoting to interior design and not discussing that she just witnessed her daughter's coach deliver an emotional monologue in her living room? Gemma was so surprised that she accidentally ignored the question.
"Helloooo, earth to Gemma." Bunny added, snapping her fingers.
"Oh uhh I trust your judgment, mum."
"Lovely! Well I think a new houseplant would really improve your mood, darling." Bunny said in her usual cheerful tone.
"Sounds cute!"
Gemma always knew her mum tried to avoid awkward conversations, but she was still floored that Alice's multiple visits in one day were being treated with the same significance as getting a package. However, part of her was admittedly relieved she didn't have to explain their hilariously complicated dynamic while she physically couldn't escape the conversation.
