"Hello anglefish" Ursula smirked as she walked up to MC digging up a night shard from her yard.
"Heya, give me a second"
Watching the ruler, the queen and saviour of the valley digging holes and doing other mundane tasks was so odd.
For a royal, this was normally something a servant would do, but it seemed like she wanted the task to be quick and done with.
"Right." MC placed the dark mysterious crystal into her never ending bag, Ursula knew it was most likely Merlin magic, and she would be unable to recreate anything similar... Annoying, but it was best she didn't waste time and resources on a project she knew was doomed to fail.
"What's up?"
"I have a favour to ask, my sweet." Laying on thick with the sweet talk, "you see... I'd like to study one of those" she gestured her human hand around, "night shards, as you call them."
"Well, Merlin call then that, so I assume that's their 'official' name." MC grinned.
"Mm... Well, would you be ever so generous and to give me-"
"Here" MC pulled the 5 she had in her bag out, "I have so many, I don't even know what I can do with them to be honest..." she rubbed her neck, "is 5 enough for now? I can get you more-"
Ursula stood in shock, MC was just... giving her them? Powerful dreamlight magic? There had to be a catch.
100% a catch.
"I..." Ursula didn’t even know what to ask or say, she had a whole speech planned, that this wasn't a scheme or something evil.
The sea witch cleared her throat, "you're just... giving them to me? Why?"
MC tilted her head to the side "because we're friends. And I know you won't really do something horrible that will affect the entire valley, maybe some questionable actions, but nothing that will permanently harm any of us."
Ursula was shocked, a fully honest 'what the fuck' moment.
Friends? They were... friends?
The ruler of the valley look at her; the wicked sea witch, the woman who stole Ariel's voice, Triton's pitch fork, tried to kill them all...
Was seen as her friend?
"Oh. Yes, yes if course" she tried collecting herself, "I wouldn't."
"I won't." Ursula corrected herself.
"You're... also my friend. I mean, other than my babies, I view you as my friend." So unusual, a new experience, a... positive emotion.
Ursula just had to make sure, "and there's no catch? No deal?" Honestly felt ridiculous asking, as if the roles were reversed for a moment.
MC shook her head, "you help me all the time, why wouldn't I help back? No questions asked!" She grinned.
"Oh, but..."
Ursula knew it... a catch.
"I won't give you any of the pink ones, they're really hard finding. And those I do use... I hope that's ok" the ruler sheepishly added.
Ursula nodded, MC handed her the shards and skipped away, picking up flowers on her way.
"What the..." the sea witch whispered.
