You’re worth it

Summary:

“Izuku…” he whispered at the dark of the night, staring at his ceiling. If he closed his eyes just hard enough, he could feel the warmth from his side of the bed.

The truth is, he couldn’t have avoided it. Izuku always had big dreams. So big they couldn’t fit into their small town. So he took the first opportunity he saw and rightfully run with it. It didn’t hurt any less though.

Or

Izuku left to study at a big city and Katsuki is a big Yearner about it

Notes:

Hi everyone! I just wanna say that this is my first fanfic, so take it easy on me and also English isn’t my first language.

But if you find something that doesn’t make sense feel free to comment about it and I’ll see what I can do :) (sorry I’m very busy nowadays)

Work Text:

A faint laugh was coming from the bedroom. So faint that you could probably think it was a distant memory. Inside it Katsuki was replaying the same video all over again

Izuku shook his head as he kept laughing, clenching his stomach. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry-“.

“Alright, nerd, it’s not funny anymore”. Katsuki tried to scratch his head nonchalantly, failing miserably.Eventually he settled at the base of the big old tree of his back porch.

“That looked like a bad fall. Are you okay?” His childhood best friend turned lover finally asked after he calmed down.

It was around midnight when Izuku suggested to try and make a homemade hammock at Katsuki’s back porch. It seemed to be doing well until the sheets they were using to hold their weight around the trees finally ripped. Naturally, Katsuki hit the ground first letting out a groan in the meantime while Izuku fell against his chest.

Izuku held Katsuki’s face with both of his hands checking for injuries. “ I would be more than okay if you kissed it better”. The blond murmured against his lovers hands, sifting the mood

Izuku cheeks showed a bit of color even with the dark sky masking most of it. “Alright now you’re just faking it” god, he will never get used to kacchan flirting with him.

“So what if I am?” Katsuki shrugged, pulling Izuku into his lap, his hands making a home at both sides of his hips. He was just easy to read. Too easy. At least to him. It might because he knew him since he could practically walk or because he always paid a little more attention to him than his other friends that just made him aware of his emotions. Either way, he could read Izuku like an open book and he knew he liked teasing.

Just as Katsuki was leaning in, Izuku turned his head causing Katsuki to land a soft kiss at the corner of his lips. “Hey-“ Katsuki protested

“Well that was a fail” he gestured at the sheets, now at the ground and then at his phone.

“ you’re still recording?! Don’t tell me you caught that pathetic fall on camera” Izuku giggled as he nodded.

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to show your amazing handyman skills to anyone” he murmured, lifting his phone up again to fit both of them at frame

“You better not” Katsuki tried to sound intimidating but the love in his eyes immediately gave it away. He hasn’t even looked at the camera once, his eyes only focused on one thing.

Right now, his eyes were fixed on his, trying to see the dark green they carry at the dark night. Slowly but steady his eyes started traveling south only stopping to stare at his boyfriend’s beautiful, full, pink lips moving without really listening to them,

“Kacchan? Are you listening to me?” Izuku smiled, catching his stare.

Katsuki only shook his head and leaned in for a kiss. He was lucky enough that Izuku allowed it this time, smiling into it. Gently Katsuki deepened the kiss, pushing his tongue past his soft lips into his mouth.

He could only smirk when he heard a soft sigh escape izuku’s lips as he grabbed his phone, now forgotten on his lap

“Alright deku, enough vlogging for today” Katsuki teased, stoping the video.

And just like that Katsuki pressed play again. He wondered where Izuku might be right now. He could be partying at a random rooftop party or studying for an upcoming exam, hell, he could be sleeping right now and probably haven’t thought of Katsuki in months. He wondered. How did we end up like this? How they became from the most lovable couple anyone has seen to strangers.

His heart ached. Strangers. How did he allowed this to happen. He should have fought harder, should have loved him harder.

Katsuki tried to suck back the tears they were threatening to fall. “ so this is it?” His voice low and short.

“Kacchan… I don’t want this to end” izuku’s attempts of maintaining calm were long gone as his voice trembled with each word.

“Then stay, damnit!” Katsuki snapped, standing up from where he was seated.

“Kacchan, you know I can’t do that” his eyes followed Katsuki’s figured as he paced around his parents living room. “Why don’t you come with me? We could finally have a place of our own, I can study at the university I got into and-“. And he was mumbling again.

“Izuku, you know damn well I can’t do that”

“But why!” Izuku stood up too “ you don’t think I’m worth it?”

“ there isn’t anything out there for me Izuku! You- hell you didn’t even told me you applied to any universities!” Fuck, his voice started to crack. A little more of this and he’ll start to cry

Izuku fell silent at that.
———.———.———

Now that he had countless nights to think about it. His answer could one be one; yes. I would go to the moon and back for you Izuku, I hope you know that.

Katsuki opened his phone again. The bright light blinding his eyesight just for a little bit.

He opened up his contacts into and started at the one pinned right on top. ‘Deku’ he may not used to be a big pet name guy but he had chosen a photo of both of them as his contract profile.

In the frame you mostly see Izuku’s beautiful face. The sun hitting him just right so every one of his freckles can glow. God how he missed these freckles. They were the perfect shade of brown, placed evenly across his face. Then you could see Katsuki’s nose buried in his soft curls on top of him.

He actually let out a chuckle. They look so fucking dumb it’s almost irritating. Almost.

Before he could realize it his thumb that was covering the contract made contact with his screen. He stopped breathing, unable to move.

Just when he regained his senses and was about to hang up he heard a voice

“Hello?” I soft murmur was heared followed by a groan through the phone. He sounded asleep

“…hello?” He repeated. His voice more clear through the speaker

Although Katsuki’s voice was long gone. He couldn’t even form a thought but somehow for the first time in months, he felt like he could finally breathe.

“..Izuku” he managed to form

“Kacchan?” Izuku somehow sounded… relieved?

“I-I’m sorry I don’t know why I call-“ suddenly Katsuki became very aware of the situation.

“No! I mean no…please”. Izuku panicked

“Okay…”

Silence fell. No one talked for a good minute. Both of them just taking in each other’s presence again. Hearing each other breathe.

“I’m sorry”

“I’m sorry”

They both spoke at the same time. Then Katsuki heard it. His giggle. Oh how he missed it. He missed it so much he might as well cry

“Kacchan, I’m sorry I said that stuff to you… the last time I saw you. I want you to now that” he heard a shaky breath.

“No, Izuku, please, don’t apologize. I’m sorry for ever making you feel trapped. For making you think that you weren’t worth it… because fuck! You where! And I was just too much of a coward to leave my comfort zone”. Katsuki felt a knot at his throat.

“ I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree” he chuckled.

“ I’m glad you called”

“ I’m glad I called too”
