Work Text:
Pedri has been running away from Ferran for the whole night. It’s not that he doesn’t want to be around him. God, it was the opposite. They just won the World Cup. He wants nothing more than to pull Ferran and keep him wrapped in his arms forever. But Ferran is currently drunk. Out of his mind. He has no idea what he’s doing.
Pedri has been trying to keep him under control but it seems like Ferran forgot that the whole cup even existed, seems like he forgot that every camera is currently on him. All his attention is on one thing and one thing only. Pedri.
He takes a sip from the cup in his hand and goes around looking for him. Can you even blame him? He scored the goal that got them the trophy. He’s been drinking for the whole night. All he can see right now is Pedri. Nothing else. Just Pedri and the alcohol in the cup.
Ferran spots him. He looks so beautiful, the thought crosses Ferran’s mind. Sitting there looking so pretty as he talks to the others. Ferran still can’t believe that he really gets to call him his. He’s been dreaming about it for so long that now that it’s real, it feels too good to be true. Pedri is too good to be true.
Ferran smiles alone as he thinks about the night he finally had the courage to put the feelings that have been growing inside him into words. It was the night after their first World Cup game. They were in Pedri’s room because it was just how the universe functioned. If Pedri is in a room, Ferran is right there. Right where he wants to be.
Ferran remembers Pedri looking so pretty that day, but if we’re being honest, that sounds like every day, doesn’t it?
That night the words came out of his mouth so suddenly, it was as if his body couldn’t keep the feelings hidden anymore. Pedri had gone really quiet, and Ferran had felt his heart drop, but then, Pedri smiled and that smile alone gave Ferran life again.
They shared their first kiss in that hotel room, it was so soft, so gentle, as if they were still testing the waters and Ferran had felt like there were actual fireworks in his stomach. Well, he knows that he lit up like one the moment he realised that Pedri felt the same way.
Just thinking about that night makes him feel like a teenager who has a crush for the first time, all the nerves and butterflies. They never stopped, how could they even stop when he falls in love with Pedri more and more every single day? Pedri basically has him wrapped around his fingers and he likes every bit of it.
Ferran walks up to him, and using all the brain cells his drunk brain allowed, he decides to sit on his lap.
“Ferran…” He hears Pedri say before pushing him to the side and making space for him next to him.
Ferran reaches to wrap his arm around him.
“Ferran, you need to stop.” Pedri tries so hard not to yell the words over all the noise around them.
“Huh?” Is all Ferran could say.
“Ferran, please, I know you’re drunk, I know you’re happy, I feel the same way, but there are cameras everywhere. And you just keep chasing me around.”
“I’m just trying to celebrate with my best friend, that’s what people are gonna say. It’s a big day, Pepi.”
Pedri looks around for a moment in an attempt not to crash out, it was getting really hard to be the bigger person. He was this close to either punching Ferran in the face to wake him up or pulling him so close and kissing him nonstop. He didn’t know which one he wanted to do the most.
“You were throwing your ass at me like five minutes ago!” Pedri has to hold himself from throwing his hands around.
Ferran goes quiet for a second before bursting into laughter.
“Excuse me?” Pedri looks at him in disbelief. He can’t be serious right now, Pedri thinks.
“I’m sorry, you’re just too cute, you know that?”
Yeah, Pedri now knows that he wants to punch him in the face more.
“Ferran, I’m choking you with that flag around your neck, don’t try me.”
Ferran grins. “Is that a promise?” He leans closer.
“I fucking hate you, you know that?”
Ferran’s grin doesn’t waver. “Liar. You love me so much.”
Pedri can’t even deny it. What is he supposed to say? No? I don’t love you? How can he even begin to say those words when he couldn’t wait for all of this to be over so he can be alone with Ferran. He had no idea what they would do. He didn’t care, either. He just wanted to have Ferran all to himself.
Pedri opens his mouth to say something but someone pulls Ferran’s attention from him. Pulling him into another round of celebration. Pedri stays right where he is, watching his boyfriend celebrate with their teammates, the glass of alcohol, of course, never leaving his hand.
He locks eyes with Ferran, because of course, even from there, even when Ferran is surrounded by people praising him and wanting his attention, his eyes always seem to follow Pedri. It’s almost like he only has eyes for him.
Pedri still has no idea how to deal with all the attention Ferran gives him. Ferran has always been so affectionate with everyone, especially Pedri. But the moment they made it official, it seems like Ferran’s whole life became centred around one person. Pedri. He needed to be around him all the time. He didn’t care where they were. He needed to be close to him. He needed to see him. Pedri is truly his drug of choice, and tonight, it seems that Ferran is really heading towards an overdose.
______
“Ferran, in case you forgot, you are very heavy,” Pedri says as he tries to stay on his feet.
Ferran hums but he keeps leaning on Pedri who’s trying so hard to get them into the room before anyone decides to show up.
Pedri sighs as he closes the door, Ferran’s arm is still wrapped around his shoulders, putting his weight all on Pedri.
He smells strongly of alcohol and Pedri is slowly starting to get dizzy. He throws Ferran into the bed and watches him as he just groans and starts to get comfortable.
“You really need to sleep.” Pedri says even when he knows that Ferran can absolutely not hear him. “I’ll get you some water.”
He gets no answer and he doesn’t expect one so he just makes his way to the fridge, pulling out a bottle of water. Maybe a pill too for the headache he will surely have? Pedri thinks.
He is so lost in thought he doesn’t even hear Ferran getting up and walking up to him until two arms wrap around his waist.
“You smell good.” Ferran says as he buries his face in Pedri’s neck.
“And you reek of alcohol.” Pedri turns to face him, Ferran’s arms still around, his grip surprisingly strong.
Ferran just smiles as he keeps looking at him. He doesn’t say anything. He just wants to stay like this forever. He just wants to keep admiring Pedri like this.
Pedri tries to break free from Ferran’s arms but that only makes the older man pull him closer, crashing their lips together. They’ve kissed before, of course, you could even say they might have kissed too much and that would be an understatement considering that Ferran couldn’t keep his hands nor his lips off of Pedri since that night, it was like something switched in him. He couldn’t move on with his life anymore if Pedri wasn’t there for him to kiss and hold. And Pedri likes having his attention. It feels really good to know that he lives rent free in his head.
But this kiss is different, Ferran is usually gentler. Softer. However this time Ferran is trying to eat Pedri whole. He doesn’t know how but all he knows is that he wants all of Pedri and he can’t help but let all his desires bleed into the kiss as Pedri grabs the collar of his shirt and pulls him closer leaving absolutely no space between them.
Pedri makes a small sound against Ferran’s mouth that Ferran swallows whole.
They barely break apart, but Ferran’s lips immediately find Pedri’s jaw then his neck, going lower and lower making sure to leave marks all over.
His hand finds its way under Pedri’s shirt, gripping his waist and still trying to pull him even closer. He walks him backwards until Pedri’s back is flat against the wall, his back stuck between the cold wall and the heat from Ferran’s body.
Ferran kisses him again. Slower this time. Like he’s got all night, and he does. Pedri’s hands slide up his chest, over his shoulders, around his neck.
Ferran goes back to kissing down his neck, slow, and Pedri tilts his head, giving him everything. Ferran’s teeth graze his collarbone and he shivers, fingers tightening in his hair.
Then… pause.
“You have got to be kidding me.” Pedri mutters.
Ferran’s head lands on his shoulder. Snoring softly. Pedri holds him before he ends up on the ground.
“You’re so lucky you’re cute. Now come here, let’s get you to bed.”
