Chapter Text

Everyone knew this was going to happen, he doesn't even wear his helmet and he thinks that's a flex still probably. The silence of the room after they fixed his injuries was the most silent the Pitt ever got. Abbot just stared at him in disbelief because he knew this was going to happen but he never expected to be the one treating him.

He knew he was going to wake up but it really felt like he wasn't going to, maybe it felt that way because he was probably never going to learn his lesson and was going to keep doing this, and talk about not coming back still. His injuries were thankfully not fatal and were just broken bones.

Robby is definitely not going to learn his lesson, he is going to keep going helmet-less and Abbot knew when he wakes up he is going to be pissed that they won't let him go until his fractured bones are at least, somewhat better. He wishes he could stop his sabbatical trip entirely but he will probably continue on and act like everyone is overreacting.

Abbot walks away from him knowing he has to work and that he can't just sit around and look at him with sadness, he would come back to check on Robby because if he woke up he is definitely going to try and treat his own injuries or simply just get up in leave. He knew he would probably want to kill himself even more if he saw the fact that his bike also got damaged.

He tries to ignore thoughts of what Robby would do, he needs to focus on the present, even if he is severely worried about him and a little worried it isn't an accident and that he did it on purpose, he needs to focus on what's in front of him. Does Abbot think he did this on purpose, not really but he knows that if he did well, he probably would have done it more successfully, he didn't ride off a cliff or anything so it probably was an accident.

Before he knows it Robby is awake and It's obvious, Robby calls for a bunch of different people before he sees Jack walk by and calls for him, he opens the door calmly and sees Robby sitting straight up clearly livid.

"Do you know what happened, Robby" he says clearly trying to not trigger him too badly, he will mention his bike is broken at a later date, hopefully nobody mentions it to him before that. "Jesus christ I only fractured some bones Abbot, I'm fine alright" he practically screams at him, Abbot just sighs and continues to try and talk him out of being angry.

"That's not what I asked and you know it" he sighs out knowing that being calm is the best he can do, he watches Robby's angry expression slightly soften in to light tears of anger. "I'm fine, and yes I crashed" he looks a mix of agitated and deeply saddened while he reassures him that he's fine, he isn't though.

"I'm fine, because i know your going to try asking me bullshit" he says infuriated with him, maybe its because he cares, he doesn't want anyone to care about him, he can deal with his own emotions. He doesn't need to talk about his feelings with his coworkers, he knew Jack was more than that but he still doesn't need to, he shouldn't even be feeling anything remotely close to sadness at work.

tears slightly fall down his cheek and he instantly tries to wipe them off with his hand, but Abbot wipes them off first, he doesn't care to thank him because he didn't want him to do it anyway. He doesn't say anything for awhile, just stares and looks up at Abbot not like a savior or anything but like he doesn't like this weak position.

"I'm fine, okay" he says responding to nothing, Abbot didn't say anything. Abbot knows its him reassuring himself actually, he is very clearly not fine, he has known Robby so long he knows that's just something he does.

"Robby are you ready to talk about it more." he says trying to at least steer him towards productive conversation. Robby looks like he wants to yell at him but instead he just sighs a little, he can't bring himself to fully yell at Abbot the way the he does with anyone else.

"I'm not ready to talk, I'm ready to get the fuck out of here" Robby says while attempting to get up, he still isn't quite yelling. He tries to get up and leave, Abbot doesn't stop him at all and lets him try, he knows he can't get up from the bed because of his broken legs but he still persists.

"Robby, you need to stop fucking trying to leave." he sighs and speaks again "your sabbatical, all of this shit about not wanting to comeback." a tear falls from his eyes and he speaks again "It's not okay man, and you need help, even though you crashed you still want to leave this hospital and all of us."

He continues speaking after a brief pause "be honest, do you wish your crash had killed you." he sighs. The room is unusually silent and Robby just looks up above and holds his star of david necklace semi-discreetly under the paper scrubs they have him in. Tears fall from both of their eyes and they avoid eye contact, "do you seriously have to do this." Robby sighs out clearly tired of being asked if he wants to kill himself.

He knew his desire to not tell anyone he was going to, his desire to not get help was hurting everyone around him, he didn't care it wouldn't hurt them anymore after his death, he would finally be completely selfless and no longer selfish. It was clear that a lot of people hated his actions, Samira definitely does and there's probably more, he was selfish and cruel, killing himself would be his final act of love and justice.

There's more silence and more silence, as they keep avoiding looking at each others crying, it feels really stupid but it feels needed. "Yes, I'm seriously doing this." he sobs out and tries to remain calm while speaking "do you want to kill yourself, or at least wouldn't care if you died." he tries to be calm about it, tries to not make it sound too pressuring but he knows it is.

"And what if I do." Robby says with tears in his eyes "And what are you gonna do if I do" he tries to stay calm, again despite his broken legs trying to get up. Everything feels weirdly loud despite the room being silent, the buzzing of lights and noises outside the room noticeable now. "Fuck, I don't know." he pauses trying to think of what to say "get you therapy, anything really."

"I don't want to talk about my feelings." he asserts knowing that Abbot is right, he doesn't really have any valid opposition to this. Abbot does not respond with anything but a simple "you need help man" and that probably won't stick with him even though its coming from Abbot.

Abbot is definitely going to have to talk to him tomorrow and tomorrow, because he most likely will not go, and he cannot wait to talk to him tomorrow night, as soon as his shift starts.

Notes:

yes robby can survive a bike accident with only broken legs, he is just built like that.
