A Consistent and Constant Bear

Summary:

Winnie the Pooh through the years

Notes:

Work Text:

🍯 🐻 🍯

One thing that could be said about Winnie-the-Pooh was that he was both consistent and constant. He was consistently and constantly to be found trundling around the Hundred Acre Woods, hunny pot in hand in case of sudden rumblys in his tummy, meeting and greeting his friends as he went along his way.

Rabbit, Kanga & Roo, Tigger, Eeyore, Owl, Piglet, the bees of the Bee Tree, all were on the route he travelled every day.

The friends he said ‘Hello!!’ to every day.

And then of course, there was his dear friend Christopher Robin. The only one of them to live outside the Hundred Acre Wood.

The only one of them to grow older. To change, in ways both large and small.

It was always interesting to see Christopher Robin and those changes that came with him. There was always something new about him.

Sometimes a new shirt or pants.
Sometimes a new hair cut.
Sometimes it was a new story he had to share about life outside the Hundred Acre Wood.

Whatever it was, it was always interesting, and Pooh always enjoyed listening and seeing the new that Christopher Robin brought with him.

The new that was so different from the way life normally went in the Wood.

Sometimes the newness was noticeable. A new outfit. A new haircut. A new story.

Sometimes, the newness was simply that Christopher Robin was that little bit older, had aged in a way that the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood never would.

In some ways, that interested Pooh-bear the most of all, precisely because it was so very different from what he and his friends experienced in their everyday lives.

It was interesting when Christopher Robin came to the Hundred Acre Wood that little bit older.

It was interesting when Christopher Robin would come to the Wood on his birthday, and somehow seem eeven a little bit older than he usually did.

It was interesting to watch him grow up, to get older and older, to grow from a boy into a man.

A man that still remembered his childhood friends and came to visit them even tho’ he was no longer a child himself.

And it was the most interesting thing of all when Christopher Robin didn’t come to the Wood alone, but rather brought with him a small boy.

One who looked rather as he had, so many years ago.

One who listened quietly and carefully when the was introduced.

One who began his own tradition of visiting the Wood - and Pooh - that day.
