Work Text:
Granny led the young man back to her office, patting his arm before guiding him into a seat.
“Are ya sure we shouldn’t check on Wile? That was a pretty rough fall…” Bugs said, still looking concerned.
“Wile knows his limits, and he knows when to reach out. If he was actually hurt he would tell us.” She assured him. She watched Bugs take a deep breath and nod, relaxing a little.
“Alright, he always was a bit of a wild one.” He smiled softly.
“That he can be. Well, now that you’ve met everyone and seen a few of them in action, let’s talk about our teachers.”
Bugs nodded again, pulling out his notebook.

Lola squealed as she read the message on her phone, batting Tweety’s shoulder.
“Did you see?! We’re playing with Bugs too! Ooh, this is gonna be so much fun!”
“How are they gonna explain that they live together?” Taz asked.
“Same way they tricked you guys, by not mentioning it.” Ralph pointed out. “Rhodes leaves early to get the little kids, and walks here in the mornings from the elementary school. They don’t leave or arrive together.”
“Yeah, that did stump us for a while.”
Ralph snorted a little, shaking his head in amusement before going back to his marking.
“Besides, after the gym today Bug’s is gonna be convinced E hates Road. Did you see him leave?” He grinned.
“Wait, no, I didn’t. What happened?” Lola gasped.
“Didn’t even take Rhodes’ hand to get up and marched out without a second glance.” Ralph laughed as Lola gasped again.
“Poor E. Must’ve weally smarted if he didn’t even wook back.” Tweety tutted.
“I really like this new Bugs guy.” Lola said.
“You’ve known him for five minutes.” Taz sighed.
“Yeah, but he has a nice aura. I vibe with his energy.”
“Lola, auras aren’t real.”
“Yes they are! Just because you aren’t attuned to them doesn’t mean-“
“Oh my god- please don’t have this argument again. Or at least save it until after the marking session so we can go home.” Ralph whined, running a hand down his face.
“Fine.”
“After, then.”
—
“Just so you are aware and everything is all above board, Tweety is my child, and Sylvester who comes in to run the library is my son. Wile and Ralph are cousins, and Daffy and Patrick are also brothers.” Granny explained to an attentive Bugs.
“Rhodes needs to leave early at 2:30 to pick up his children from the elementary school, so the PE/Health schedule can’t be changed. Wile’s son also attends school here.”
Bugs was writing down everything in his notebook. What a sweet young man, he really did want to make a difference.
“Tweety uses they/them pronouns, and Taz uses she/they pronouns. Marvin and Daffy have a rather… tumultuous relationship. Don’t let them chaperone or be on duty together.”
“Otherwise everyone is all rather friendly. Small groups will often sit in the teachers lounge after work to do their marking together, and socialise a little.”
“Eh, can I ask what Rhodes was saying in the gym back there?”
“Oh, occasionally when his brain starts moving too fast for him he’ll make his little chirp. It doesn’t happen often, normally just when his adrenaline is too high. He’s able to calm himself back down again usually, but for when he can’t Wile was able to make him his own soundboard.”
Bugs blinked, remembering all the work Wile had put into his own back in college.
“He made one just for Rhodes? It doesn’t even seem like he likes the guy.”
“Wile isn’t the type to let people suffer, no matter his personal feelings.”
Bugs raised an eyebrow.
“Usually.”
Bugs snorted.

Wile was holding Wakko’s hands as they danced around the room, singing along to the music. It had been the middle’s turn to pick the show to watch after dinner, and when Wakko had asked if they could have a dance party instead because he was bored of sitting around all day, well, who were Wile and Roadie to say no?
“We’re going up up up it’s our moment! Gonna be gonna be golden!” Wile and Wakko sang loudly. Roadie had Dot on his back and was spinning around with Yakko, giggling at the dizziness. Roadie kept looking at him with what Ralph and the kids called his ‘heart eyes’ face. It was the face he used when he was reminded why he had fallen in love.
Wile felt an easy smile on his own face. He had never imagined his own life could ever be this easily joyful. He picked Wakko up for a spin, laughing as the boy squealed in excitement. He hung the boy upside down over his shoulder, holding onto his legs.
“Wakko? Wakko where did you go? We were just dancing?” He said, turning around as if looking for him and smiling wider at the two younger kids wild giggles. “Roadie, did you see where Wakko went?”
“No idea!”
“What about you, Yak?”
“I’ll tell ya doc, I have no idea where he went.” The older boy snickered.
“Dot, did you see where Wakko went?”
“He’s behind you!”
“Behind me?”
He turned around in an exaggerated manner, pretending to search the living room, the two little kids squealing with giggles again.
“Are you sure about that, Dot? I still can’t see him!”
“I’m here I’m here! Behind you!”
“Again?” He turned around again, placing his free hand on his hip. “Are you guys tricking me?”
“Noooo!” Dot and Wakko both called.
“Check your backpack!” Dot said, pointing towards Wakko’s feet on his shoulder.
“My backpack? Why would Wakko be in my backpack?” He questioned, before swinging the boy around into his arms. “Wakko! There you are!” He pulled him up and blew a raspberry into his cheek. Wakko squealed and wiggled in his arms. “What were you doing in my backpack?”
“You put me there!”
“Me?! I don’t think I would do that. Do you guys think I would do that?”
“Hm, no. Doesn’t sound like you, Wiles.” Roadie shrugged.
“You accusing the good doctor of being a liar, Wakko?” Yakko said, putting his hands on his hips playfully.
“Noooo he did! You did!” The boy laughed. Wile pressed a kiss to his cheek and set him down again.
“My sweet boy.” He smiled, booping his nose. “You wanna listen to pony club now?”
“Yes! Pink pony club!”
