Chapter 1: Rewind

Chapter Text

August 29, 2025

“Get the fuck out!” Han yelled, staring at his once partner in disgust. Minho stood there, thinking this was some prank.

“Han, you’re getting it wrong, nothing happened between me and Felix.” Minho says gently, contrasting against Han’s harsh words. There was two sides to the story, Han had saw something he shouldn’t, but the something was just a mistake.

Minho gently placed a hand on Han’s cheek.

“Please baby, just hear me out.” Minho said, his eyes filled with hurt and confusion softened just a fraction. His thumb softly wiped some tears off of Han’s left cheek.

Han felt sick to his stomach as his mind raced back to the worlds worst nightmare, that same nickname Felix had called Minho, that very nickname Han loved when Minho called him that, and it felt bitter in his mind.

“Don’t touch me, you disgust me.” Han said, slapping Minho’s hand away, Minho’s hand jerked back as if he’d touched fire. He stumbled back slightly, his mind was filled with confusion as his mind raced back to the incident.

“Don’t say that, can we just please talk?” Minho practically begged, he knew he had messed up even if it wasn’t his fault. But he’d do anything to make it right.

“No! You don’t get to cheat on me then say you’re sorry!” Han yelled, grabbing Minho by his collar. As Minho’s eyes widen, he’d never seen Han this mad nor has Han expressed his anger on him this way.

Minho’s face fell as he realized Han actually believes that he cheated. He needed to explain so badly, but he couldn’t, there was nothing to stop this outcome.

“I don’t love you anymore, get that through your head. Okay?” Han yelled once more, but the moment those words left his mouth, he wanted to take them back immediately. Instead, he shoved Minho as he let go of his collar. They both knew it was a lie, Han loved Minho deeply, but even though. Minho’s heart broke into pieces as tears finally fell.

“Y-you don’t mean that,” Minho said quietly. “Please, just let me explain. It’s nothing like that. I didn’t cheat on you.” Minho begged once more, but he knew it was all over. His life was over.

“I said get out! We’re over, Lee Minho” Han yelled once more. Minho knew there was no way to get it through Han’s head. Their 2 years together was destroyed by one simple misunderstanding, one that could be resolved in seconds. Yet stubborn as always, Han didn’t want to hear a thing. Hot tears falling all over Han’s once smooth and beautiful bunny cheeks. Minho eyes stung, tears daring to fall, they both still loved each other. Yet it was all over.

“Fine,” Minho said. “Even if you don’t believe me, I still love you with my whole heart. Han Jisung.”

That was all that was said, Minho left. It was all over, his clothes getting drenched immediately as he stepped outside in the cold restless rain. His tears finally falling. The man he had once and still loved broke up with him, over one mistake.

Rewind?

“C’mon Hyung, just one kiss. Han won’t find out.” Felix said shamelessly.

“No. You’re not thinking straight.” Minho said, already started to stand up from his seat at the bar.

Little did he know, Han would arrive at the same bar and see everything yet not the thing that mattered.

Felix stood up as well, drunk as ever. Wrapping his arm around Minho’s neck.

“You know you want me, Han won’t know, just one night. Please baby.” Felix said.

“Get the fuck off me, and don’t you dare call me that,” Minho said with pure anger and disgust, “I’m in love with Han, I’m not going to ruin my relationship over some shameless scum.” Minho scowled.

Han stood there, watching another man shamelessly throwing himself on his Minho. Clenching his fist so hard that his nails caused his palms to bleed slightly. He wanted to intervene but he needed to see what his beloved partner would do.

Drunk and not think straight, Felix kissed Minho.

Han wanted to scream, to throw something, to kill Felix. To end it. But before he could, get stormed out, running home as tears fell down his face. The dark sky signaled that it was going to rain soon, it matched Han’s mood.

Crickets chirping mixed with Han’s sniffles as he started to pack Minho’s stuff, throwing it all in a pile. He was not thinking straight, he didn’t need to know the full story, even if it was all a misunderstanding. His rage consumed him.

Back at the bar, Minho immediately shoved Felix off, not that Han would see. Felix stumbled back slightly, a smug smirk appearing on his lips. The same lips that had ruined a relationship. Minho wiped his lips, looking at Felix with murderous intent and pure disgust.

“You liked it, admit it.” Felix whispered, sending shivers down Minho’s spine.

“You fucking disgust me, don’t ever contact me or Han.” Minho said.

“Aw, you don’t know, do you? Why mention Han’s name.” Felix said, knowing exactly what he was doing, he had saw Han. He knew Han had saw, but not the full story where Minho shoved him off immediately.

“What are you talking about,” Minho said. “What. The. Fuck. Are. You. Talking. About.” Minho demanded once again as realization rushed over his head.

“No. It couldn’t be.” Minho thought.

“Tell me you’re lying.” Minho yelled

“He saw everything,” Felix said shamelessly.

“Maybe you should go check on that boyfriend of yours, or maybe ex boyfriend now.” Felix whispered in Minho’s ears as he left, leaving him alone in the empty bar. Fear and disbelief flooded him.

That’s when it all ended.

Minho called his friend, his voice hoarse and raw. He sat on the bus waiting bench, to avoid getting wet even more. Even more tears falling, it was like a nightmare he couldn’t wake up from. He pinched himself to check of this is real. To check if he’d wake up to his arms wrapped around his once lover. But it was all real.

“Changbin, please. Come get me.” Minho practically begged through the phone.

“I’m on my way, stay where you are.” Changbin said, he recognized Minho’s tone, this was something big, something unraveling to the worst year of his best friend’s life. Changbin got in his car, already having Minho’s location because they shared to it each other for emergency’s. And this was the biggest emergency of all.

“Get in.” Changbin said softly, getting out his car and opening an umbrella, putting it over Minho’s head as he opened the passenger seat.

“Thanks.” Is all Minho managed to say, still crying. Changbin knew this was serious, he had only seen Minho cry once throughout their 14 years of friendship, which was when Minho had opened his skull.

Changbin had already warmed up the car and placed a towel on the passenger seat, knowing Minho would probably be soaked from the rain. Minho sat down in the car, letting out a sigh through his tears from the warmness.

Changbin closed the door after Minho got inside, getting in the driver seat and starting the car again. The engine roaring loudly, echoing throughout the empty road. Changbin started driving through the quiet night, not talking. He knew Minho didn’t want to talk, atleast not now. The drive was silent beside Minho’s sniffles. He fidgeted with his hands, a habit he would do when Minho is sad or still processing.

They arrived at Changbin’s house, Changbin stepped out first. Opening the umbrella and opened the car door for Minho, helping him stand up, Minho’s legs were wobbly, unable to walk. He was still crying, his head was pounding from the constant tears. They both walked into the house. It smelled of Changbin and his famous tea. Before he had left, he had prepared tea. Minho collapsed on the couch, gripping the pillow as he continued to cry.

“I’ll pour the tea.” Changbin said softly.

After a couple minutes, Minho’s tears died down. But they both knew they would return soon. Minho stood up, his legs still slightly wobbly as he walked to the dining table, sitting down. As Changbin smiled softly. Placing the warm tea in front of his friend as he sat across from him.

“Thanks.” Is all Minho managed to say once again.

“You don’t have to talk right now, just drink up.” Changbin said. He picked up his own cup, but he waited for Minho to take the first sip. As Minho drank the tea, a warm feeling spread across his chest as he let out another sigh. He nodded in response as the two boys drank the tea in silence.

After a couple minutes, Minho finally decided to talk.

“We broke up.” Minho whispered, more tears threatening to fall.

Changbin nearly dropped his tea cup in shock. The two boys who were so in love just a couple of days ago suddenly broke up? He couldn’t believe it. Han and Minho were the perfect couple, at least was. There was no way, what could possibly happen.

“What?” Is all Changbin managed to say.

Minho’s eyes were completely red as he was completely heart broken.

“It was all so sudden, and Felix-.” Minho cut himself off.

Felix, the boy who was always trying to get in between Han and Minho’s relationship. Changbin had always despised Felix. And to know that Felix was behind this, his chest burned with anger. He clenched his fist, the same way Han had been clenching his.

“I still love him, Changbin. I can’t live without him,” Minho said dramatically through tears.

“You don’t have to convince me,” Changbin whispered. “I know you love him.”

“That’s the problem, I think I’ll still love him even if he stops loving me.” Minho said softly.

The two boys moved to the couch as Minho explained everything through tears, how Felix kissed him, how he pushed him away, how Han saw, how everything ended. As Minho continued to cry hysterically, Changbin held him.

After a while of hugging, Minho finally got a hold of himself. How could he be so pathetic. Though he wasn’t the only one who was pathetic, even Changbin was shedding some tears.

“Go take a shower, you can borrow my clothes. I’ll set up the guest room.” Changbin said.

He handed Minho the clothes. Minho turned on the shower, getting undressed as he was still crying. Hell, the amount he had cried was more than he had in his whole life. He got into the warm shower, as Changbin set up the guest room. Fresh sheets and soft pillows, just the way Minho liked it. He had known from multiple sleepovers throughout their lives.

“I’m done.” Minho said, stepping out the bathroom. The mirrors were covered in steam from the warm shower.

They both said goodnight to each other. As Minho closed the door behind him. He later sat on the bed, a soft whimper escaped him. The way the bed felt seemed to make things bittersweet. He pulled out his phone after a while of debating as he opened Han’s contact.

“My Baby” Showed on Minho’s screen. He wanted to text him so badly it made his head hurt more. Just to find out he was blocked. No, it couldn’t be. The only reason Han had blocked Minho was not out of anger or hatred, it was because he was afraid to text him first.

He tucked himself in tightly and turned off the lamp. He cried himself to bed, he knows he would do so for the next 6 months.

Back at Han’s apartment, Han lied on the bed once shared with his once lover. He had been crying ever since the incident. His head was also pounding. The day was a nightmare, exactly like Minho’s. He knows he still loves Minho, they both do. But all good things come to an end, right? He felt empty, he didn’t have Minho’s hand wrapped around his waist, nor did he have Minho’s head nuzzled in his neck. It was all but hell itself. After tossing and turning, Han finally turned around to see Minho’s hoodie hanging off a hanger. Han immediately felt sick to his stomach, that same jacket Han had stole multiple times but they both knew Minho would loved when he would do that.

Both of them couldn’t sleep, I mean who could? Han kept tossing and turning, he unconsciously scooted backwards on the once soft bed, seeking Minho’s arm around his waist. It felt like a fever dream, his head was spinning. Finally, Han got up, he knew he wouldn’t be sleeping anytime soon.
He didn’t bother to put on slippers, his feet scraping against the cold glass tiles, the same tiles him and his once lover had picked out together when they had moved in. His back slumped as he walked to the cabinet where he kept his liquor. Han wasn’t good with liquor, it was either he didn’t drink, or he drank like a mad man. He popped open the strongest vodka he could find, which was weird because he never liked it. But he knew Minho did. Hell, everything reminded Han of Minho and their once romance. He didn’t even bother to pour a glass, he just drank straight out of the bottle. Anything to deal with the pain, am I right? After an entire bottle, a wave of nausea hit Han, he ran to the bathroom while clutching his stomach. His head hurt even more, but he barely thought of Minho now, he knew he would later on. But at least the alcohol did its job.

Back at Changbin’s apartment, Minho couldn’t sleep either. He kept tossing and turning. His long arms unconsciously tired to wrap around something, Han’s waist. Though he knew he would never once more be able to cuddle or hold Han, it was worth a try. Once again, he kept pinching himself, to see if he’d wake up from this nightmare. To wake up with his arms wrapped around Han, but it was all real, unfortunately. Anytime he would close his eyes the scene at the bar would replay over and over again.

Felix's face.

The bar.

Han standing in the doorway.

And then Han's voice.

“I don't love you anymore.”

“C’mon Hyung, just one kiss. Han won’t find out.”

“No. You’re not thinking straight.”

“You know you want me, Han won’t know, just one night. Please baby.”

Suddenly, Minho sat up. His eyes snapped open as he desperately gasped for air. His hands clutching the sheets as if he was trying to ground himself, his whole body covered in cold sweat as more tears dared to fall. His head was spinning and he felt a sickening tightness in his stomach. It happened again, that stupid nightmare, though it wasn’t really a nightmare since he lived through it once. Because no matter how many times he woke up, for those few terrifying moments, he was right back there again—reliving the same memory, feeling the same fear, losing the same thing all over again.

Their new lives were going to be hell, they both knew.

September 14, 2025 - 26 days since the break up.

It was Han’s birthday, it should be a happy day, right? Nope, the thing is Felix and Han’s birthday were only one day apart. So the thought of Han having to basically share the glory of his birthday with his most hated person made his stomach sick. It was 26 days since Minho’s and his breakup. So all and all, it was a hell of a day for Han.

A loud groan echo’s in Han’s room as he wakes. It was his special day, at least it’s supposed to be. He hadn’t got any sleep last night, all he could think of was his hatred for Felix. His hair was a mess and god he was starving. He hadn’t been taking care of himself properly, he had lost a ton of weight but honestly he didn’t care. He really missed Minho’s cooking and was too depressed to bother to eat, all he wanted was a long shower. Then, it hit him. It was his birthday. He knew he had to at least socialize with some of his friends, or he’d seem like a total dickhead. But he pushed that fact aside in the back of his head, because if he thought about his birthday he would think of Felix and that he would be celebrating like he isn’t a home wrecker. Honestly, he didn’t entirely blame Minho, but of course he was fucking livid, livid enough to end their perfect relationship. Most of his anger was directed towards Felix, but still he hated and loved Minho at the same time, which was confusing.

Han loved warm showers, especially the feeling after. So of course, every birthday he rewards himself with a burning hot shower. The steam already started to cloud the mirrors in the bathroom as Han started to get undressed and got into the shower. He let a groan, though it was different from the one he had let out this morning, it was out of satisfaction. Even though he was still heartbroken, he still wanted to cherish this moment.

For Minho, his life looked entirely different. He barely thought of Felix, all he could think of was his beloved Han. It’s been 26 days since their breakup, and for him, he used his money saved up for a new apartment. Though he was just as depressed as Han, he looked up for one day, and it was today, but he knew he would just go back to being as sad as ever once this day was over. Every morning he would snooze his alarm and play back every memory of him and Han. God he was like a lovesick puppy. But today, it was different, he woke up at 7:24 am naturally. It was Han’s birthday, unlike Han, he didn’t give two shits about Felix and his birthday being tomorrow, it was Han’s special day to him. He knew that Han loved to take a long shower every birthday and knew he was probably in the shower right now. Even though they had broken up and Han hated him, Minho still loved him deeply. And he knew his once lover, he knew that Han wouldn’t take care of himself properly when something was going on. And he knew Han was probably starving, and Minho wanted to at least try and fix that.

Minho quickly got up and got ready, he chugged a cup of black coffee and pain killers, his usual breakfast. He went down to the local grocery market and picked up fresh ingredients for Pyongyang naengmyeon and cheesecake. It was Han’s favorite, he knew Han would never eat any other cake on his birthday and how much Han adores Pyongyang naengmyeon. Once he got home, he immediately started to bake, he knew the dessert had to sit the fridge for a while so he started with that. He made a lemon blueberry cheesecake, Han’s favorite cheesecake out of every cheesecake. The truth is, Minho absolutely hated the smell of cream cheese, but since it was the thing Han loved the most, he endorsed the smell for Han’s sake all those years. And he won’t stop now, and not ever. After whisking, mixing, and assembling. The beautiful cake was ready, Minho carefully placed the cake in the fridge to set. He knew that about this time Han would finish his shower and had to at least act happy for his friend’s sake. Minho knew Han, and that he would most definitely put on a fake act for Seungmin and Jeongin. But they would see right through, they knew what Han’s going through right now, everyone was devastated at their breakup and furious at Felix. Finally, he got started on the Pyongyang naengmyeon, he knew Han loves to eat cold noodles and that he would devour it no matter his mood.

After his shower, Han was on the verge of passing out, but he still had to reply to all his friends. He didn’t bother to dry his hair, he just plopped down on his couch and opened his phone. He let out a sigh as he saw all the messages, he started to reply to them one by one. Making sure to put extra effort in the reply’s to his closest friend’s. Finally, he was done, he didn’t get a message from Minho, he knew he had blocked him but he still felt this emptiness inside. His head was pounding and his stomach was practically begging for food. He hasn’t eaten anything but a protein bar in 4 days. Then, he heard the doorbell. Great, how could it be. Han thought. As he got up and walked to the door, practically forcing himself not to faint. Minho knew Han didn’t want to see him, not to see his smile and not to hear his voice. And plus he was still blocked, so all he could do was write a note and have someone drop it off. He opened it and saw no one, weird? Then he looked down, he saw a white box with a note on top, then a container beneath it. Confused as ever, he picked it up and brought inside. The smell of noodles filed the room as his face dropped. He placed it down and picked up the note.

“Happy birthday, I miss you. Don’t forget to dry your hair.”

That was all, no signature or name. But he didn’t need it, he knew it was from Minho from the hand writing. Minho knew Han never dried his hair after showering unless he was reminded. Han’s face flushed slightly, he knew he shouldn’t feel this way but he couldn’t help himself. He knew Minho still cared, still loved him, and missed him. But the reminder made his heart flutter. Finally, he opened the white pastry box to see a whole cheesecake. His favorite cheesecake. His eyes widen from shock and happiness, he quickly pulled out a spoon and took a bite. It was like heaven breaking through his hell. It was just as delicious as he remembered. Then he looked down at the noodles, his favorite noodles. God, he never felt this way before, even though he still hated Minho, he appreciated it very deeply. He dug in quickly as tears fell down his face. He made a promise to himself to dry his hair after. Even though he hated doing it himself, he felt like he owed Minho and had to do it.

Finally, after the worst yet best day in his new life of hell. It was 11:59 pm. 1 more minute till this disgraceful day ended, but he was also reminded of Felix’s birthday being in 1 minute. Though he was too busy thinking of Minho, which he swore he never would. He didn’t want to think anymore, he just wanted alone time. He quickly tucked himself in and let out a soft sigh as his body slightly relaxed on the bed.

“Finally,” Han mumbled as he fell asleep.
