Chapter Text
Marinette checked the address carefully. She'd never delivered an order to a boat before. Not that she could remember anyway.
Guitar music could be easily heard across the plank, err, gangway, or whatever. So someone was probably home. She set a tentative foot on the gangway and raised her voice over the music.
"Hello?"
The guitar stopped. Shaggy blue and black hair appeared. "Welcome aboard!"
Carefully making her way aboard, Marinette was relieved when she made it to the other side with herself and her delivery intact.
The boy smiled at her as she held out the box. "This is unexpected."
She frowned, pulling the order out to inspect it again. Oh. "It was paid for by a third party. Someone must like you." It wouldn't be hard, she thought, to like a boy like him.
His smile slipped. "You okay, Marinette?"
She shook her head, backing up a step. "How do you know my name?"
"I—we—" he took a deep breath, letting it out very slowly. "You don't remember me?"
"Sorry. I forgot… a lot, recently."
He nodded. She watched his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed. Was he sad she didn't remember him?
"How do we know each other?" Maybe they could meet again. She'd like another friend. Especially one as cute as… she looked at the order again…"Luka?"
His eyes snapped to hers, then down to the order form in her hand.
"Yeah. Luka Couffaine. I'm Juleka's brother. We met when you came over last year."
"Oh." Something about him made her want to stay a little longer. She gestured to his guitar. "Yours was my last delivery. Can I stay and listen for a while?"
Luka's smile returned, bright and inviting. "I'd like that."
