Too little, way too late

Summary:

"Whoa!! This place is huge!!!" A bright pink haired dreamer girl was inclined to gasp at the gigantic town where her and her friends had to stay for the next week and a half.

"It indeed is..." A two-tone blue haired boy answered the girl half his height, with a hand on his chin, lost in thought.

"I still cannot believe that we get to stay at a luxury resort for free..." Akito responded the two and their unimportant detail, still very dazed by the situation.

"And it's not just any luxury resort. It's freaking Emu's family's resort!" An continued his phrase just as out of it.

"My head gets dizzy just thinking about it.." Kohane also chimed in.

'I just had to get dragged into this mess, didn't I..?' The annoyed ginger thought.

Chapter 1: How it all started

Chapter Text

It was another beautiful spring morning. Tsukasa was, of course, early for his troupe's daily meet-up for practice.

The park where they always hold their get-togethers was weirdly populated that day with different food-stalls, possibly because of the beautiful cherry-bloosoms which bloomed a few days before. Therefore, out of boredom, and to hopefully have a nice surprise for his friends, the amazing star decides to get some taiyaki.

Of course! It's the perfect ideea!! The blonde star thought. And not only could he do this amazing gesture for his dear troupe mates, but he also made sure to get everyone's favourite flavours.

Tsukasa left the stall just in time to bump into none other than Nene! And not long after, following behind her, Rui along side Emu who just so happend to walk together to the park.

Emu noticed the four taiyakis in Tsukasa's hands, and jumped excitedly when the star admitted for who he bought those for.

"Wahhh!!! Thank you so so so much, Tsukasa-kun!!" The pink ball of happiness called out.

"Fu fu~ Why, thank you, Tsukasa-kun." Rui followed up

"What's with the random gesture?" Nene asked with a monotone tone . "I was expecting you to just hurt our eardrums even more."

"HEY-! Uh, I don't always do that..." Tsukasa screamed with a very red and flushed face.

"I was joking. But, seriously, thank you. It's a nice gesture."

"You're very welcome! It's not everyday you get to do something like this for your dearest friends!" Tsukasa exclaimed with a look of triumph on his face.

It had already been, probably, about a year and a half since the group departed from their dear Wonderstage and started doing shows independently, and it was soon time for them to start planning their next show, and where it could take place.

"Well, since everyone is in good spirits, I figure it's time for us to start talking about our upcoming show." Rui opened the conversation, to hopefully calm the waters between the blonde and green haired duo.

"Oh, oh! Me me! I have an important announcement!!" Emu said excitedly.

Ever since the four troupe members went to the amazing Morinomyia Revue, Emu had insisted to be the one in charge of handling their schedules and financing, saying it's the best opportunity for her to learn how to take care of Phenny Land in the far future.

"Fu fu~, then the floor is all yours, Emu-kun!"

"Okay☆!" The pink dreamer happily exclaimed.

"So, Shosuke and Keisuke-oniichan got a very very important offer for one of the troupe's at Phenny Land. It was for them to perform at a very wonderhoy and important traditional town a few hours away from Shibuya. But, there is a problem.." Disappointment started to show on her face.

"None of the troupes there are able to go due to their very busy schedules. This offer is very important for PxL, because they would be allowed to advertise there and attract more people. So, I thought that maybe we could go instead, since we already did few ads for Phenny Land! I also made sure everything is within our budget!"

Even though, WxS left PxL so they could become a freelancer troupe, they still had done quite a few ads and advertisements for their dear park, as a way to thank Emu's family for the amazing opportunities they've given them.

"Hm... Well, I say let's do it! Tsukasa said confidently, without a second thought.

"Huh? Wait, we don't even know anything about the venue or what type of show they would want us to perform there." Nene answered the star harshly.

"I think Tsukasa-kun is right, it's worth a shot." Rui calmed down the green haired girl. "As a troupe, we should be prepared for any opportunities that come our way"

"Yes~ I think so too~ ♪" Popped out all of the sudden a soft robotic voice, startling three of the four group members.

"W-W-Wah! L-Luka-neesan?!" Emu said, as she jumped back.

"Oops..~ did I startle you three...~?" Luka answered in her sleepy tone that everyone is already used to.

"H-How long have you been here?!" Tsukasa asked pretty dumbfounded.

"Ever since we got here, but I figured you guys just didn't notice her since she fell asleep once Tsukasa gave us the taiyaki he bought" Rui answered for the pink haired robot.

"We're getting sidetracked, we have a show to prepare for." Said Nene, already loosing her patience.

"Oya~ I thought you were against us doing a show there?" Rui asked slyly, mostly to spite his dear friend.

"I never said I'm against it." Nene sneered right back at the purple haired guy who is supposed to be her childhood friend. "I just asked if it really is ok for us to do a show there, since we aren't working for Phenny Land anymore."

How annoying.. Was all Nene could think before Emu would chime in and interrupt her line of thought.

"I can just ask my older brothers!☆" Emu answered the question that was bugging Nene.

Soon after, Emu got the greenlight from her older brothers. They started planning instanly. But the four had one very important problem that they couldn't fix.

"Soo... What you're saying is we have to do shows the whole day...? Like without any chances of breaks...? And none of the staff will be available to help?" Nene asked skepticaly. "How are we going to do that without, like, dying of exhaustion?"

Luka, even though she was asleep, was still listening to their very important discussions, hoping to somehow help.

Nene was very much aware of her lack of athletism from years of doing nothing but playing video games. She knew that she is the least fit in the group. So, of course, the thought of doing shows without the chance of a break the whole day would scare her.

"I did put quite some thought into that, because I know that none of us, as lively as some are, would be physically able to put on shows for such a long period of time." Answered Rui.

"Oya~♪ Then why don't you all ask for help..~?" Luka tried to give them a lead on how to fix their mess.

"That would probably be our best choice at the moment" Tsukasa nodded at the suggestion.

"But the problem is who?"

The group decided to end the discussion for the day, and each of them went on their merry way, still thinking about possible candidates that could help them.

Tsukasa and Nene finally separated from the group, also saying goodbye to Luka which was still present in the form of a hologram in Rui's phone.

Nene wasn't sure why she decided to leave with Tsukasa, in that moment, even though the most logical solution would've been to go with Rui. Her co-star, the loud-mouth that she's gotten used to, can actually be very calm around the people he feels comfortable with, which actually shocked her while pitching small talk with him.

"Did you find anybody that... you know.. could help us?" For some reason, Tsukasa's unusual calmness made her feel awfully awkward.

"Not yet. But I'll make sure that this is all I'm gonna be thinking about untill our next meet-up!" He answered her with a stupid type of seriousness that she usually only saw in her RP video games, which made her giggle.

Not too far in the distance, close to Shibuya crossing, two familiar guys can be seen in the distance. Could they be the saving grace that our two future stars were searching for all along?

                                                ____________

Toya and Akito had departed from the Weekend Garage not too long before, after a very long day of practice. With their group being constantly in and out of Japan, it kind of compelled Ken, An's father, to basically force their group to take a break from such intensive performances.

Therefore, right before they left their favourite café, Ken requested, which sounded more like a demand, for everyone to sleep in the following day. Although, this was no easy task for Akito nor Toya, these two usually being early birds.

The duo, was about to get ready to say goodbye for the day, when toya noticed two familiar figures coincidentally walking in the same direction as them.

"Huh?" Was all Akito heard from Toya before hearing a voice he was not hoping to hear, especially that night.

"Toya! Akito!! Over here!!"

"Oh! Tsukasa-senpai!" Toya happily called out right before recieving back a scream ten times louder, bursting Nene's and everyone else's eardrums within a 30 meter radius.

"Whoa! If it isn't my two favourite juniors!!" Tsukasa basically exploded with happiness once he approached the two, dragging Nene along

Ugh... Now? I really don't wanna talk with them now... Nene wasn't the happiest about socializing right in that moment, after practice, when she's tired. She especially didn't want to see anyone familiar, specifically not with the living and breathing version of a megaphone next to her.

" You two must be walking home from practice, am I right?" Tsukasa asks, starting the conversation, except only he and Toya actually wanted to socialise in that moment.

And so, the two end up talking about the things that they did that day, eventually the other two grumpy people warming up and joining the conversation. By the end of the discussion, the orange and two toned blue haired duo, found out about the pickle in which the four friends found themselves in.

"So, what you're saying is you're searching for four people to scout and help you out?" Akito sumerizes everything that he was just told.

"That is quite the predicament.." Toya murmured to himself.

"Yeah. That's about it. Do you maybe know anyone who would be willing to help?" Nene asked, desperate at that point.

Akito knew very very well two idiots who would drop everything to help the troupe which they look up to really much. One of them was actually sitting right next to him, therefore the question startled him a bit, giving the possibility of dragging him in more bullshit.

And Akito's fears were answered right that second by none other than Toya, who gladly says:

"Maybe our group could help out!"

Toya was more than happy to help his senpai, specifically because he always wanted to find a way to pay him back. To thank him for all those years where Tsukasa inspired and made him choose the path he ended up on.

A loud and very prominent "Huh?!" Could be heard from none other than Nene and Akito who weren't expecting that response at all, at least not in that moment.

"Wah- wait uh Toya! Are you sure? We still don't know if the girls are-" Akito started stumbling on his words, being a bit taken aback by Toya's very sudden and stern decision, mainly because he knows how stubborn this guy can truly be, but he was interrupted by him.

"I know for sure that Azusawa-san would be more than happy to help, and Shirashi definitely wouldn't want to be left out. I think it can be a good learning opportunity for our group."

"B-But, Aoyagi-kun, didn't you say that you are supposed to take a ... yeah! A break! Didn't you say that you four are supposed to take a break from concerts and shows?!" Nene asked very franticly. She couldn't bear the idea that she would have two of the biggest social butterflies she knows, Emu and An, dragging her along their stupid quests. It made her rethink her entire life choices about being a musical actress.

" I doubt that this whole trip would be all that tiring, besides I would love the ideea of doing a show alongside Tsukasa-senpai."

"Aww, Toya! You make me tear up!! You're so so kind! As long as it doesn't bother your group, I would love the idea of you four joining us!" Tsukasa answered his junior, almost shedding a tear.

And just like that, despite their protests, Akito and Nene's fates were forcefully sealed by their co-stars. How could they escape this treacherous fate?

The next day the two groups met up. Two members of each unit were very much not fond of this meet-up for a variety of reasons. But ended up going anyway, the second they started getting teased, out of spite.

Just as Toya said, Kohane was down for the quest instantly, and An followed up as well, a bit skeptical though. As for Akito, he just looked like he was forced to eat rocks, but tried to suck it up just for his partner.

Emu was over the moon at the fact that Tsukasa and Nene managed to find four helpers so soon, and the best thing of all, they were their friends too! Rui also was excited, to see if he had new potential candidates that could posibly try out his inventions. Nene, wasn't as bothered as Akito, but she was mostly worried about her social battery.

Once the eight finally met up in the same place where Tsukasa bought taiyaki, they all started negotiating how vbs could help out the troupe, and if they can also put on a concert in between the very big number of shows that had yet to take form.

Akito started to realize that it maybe wasn't as bad as he made it out to be. He was actually also pretty interested in how these four put on such amazing shows, so when him and the other three got the chance to watch WxS's practice sessions, he actually started getting curious.

At the same time from Akito's phone appeared two, very curious, holographic figures. And of course they would be none other than Luka and Kaito. Even though Meiko has asked them for help, over at Crase Café, they decided to escape over to Akito's phone instead.

"Oya~ I didn't expect us to have some company today." Rui said calmly

"Even though we all know about each others sekai's, it's still a very weird feeling seeing such... different vocaloids.." Nene said shyly, thinking about how different Luka looked compared to theirs.

"Tell me about it." An added. "As a matter of fact I haven't really seen any of your vocaloids other than Rin and Len. How are they like?"

"Well uh... I can ask them to come out and you can see for yourself."

"Amazing! Thank you, Kusanagi-san!" Answered An very excited, but what Nene wasn't aware of was An's Very secret plan ' become closer with kusanagi-san!! (And hopefully be able to call eachother by our names by the end of it) '

Nene nodded. And the blue haired girl started to daydream about her new possible friendship. An's happy trail of thought was soon interrupted by three figures who watched the whole interaction: Akito, Luka and Kaito.

"My, my, An, you're replacing us! Already? After so much we've helped you with?" Luka tried to dramatically tease the girl.

"Hmph, what is that supposed to mean? I'm not replacing anyone. I just want to know what the other vocaloids are like."

But An was right, everyone, even the vocaloids, was curious to meet the people from Wonderland Sekai, that they haven't met yet.

A few seconds later three figures popped out of Nene's phone. A very sleepy Luka startled the other two already present vocaloids, while Wonderland Kaito was struggling to keep her standing. A cat girl Miku was also there for emotional support, but she seemed very happy to meet some new possible friends.

"My, Nene, you didn't tell us that we had some guests!" Kaito said, still a bit distracted by Luka who was close to tumbling over.

Street Kaito was a bit taken aback by Wonderland Kaito's capability of multitasking, but it did remind him of Meiko.

"Hey there other me! Long time no see!!" The blue haired hologram answered, full of excitement.

"Fu fu~♪ Kaito you... didn't tell us you had friends outside of sekai...~" responds a very sleepy Luka.

"To be fair I don't think any of us were expecting to-" Street Luka tried to empathise with the very overworked troupe leader, but was interrupted.

"Wh- Wah! Luka don't- !" And so, Kaito and Luka both fell out of frame, disappearing from Nene's phone, worrying everyone watching, in the process.

"W-W-W-Wah! Kaito-niisan, wait for Miku!!!" She quickly followed the two, disappearing aswell.

"That sure was a situation-" But Luka couldn't finish her sentence, yet again, before her and Kaito suddenly got ambushed by a very angry Meiko.

"Oh.. Meiko.. Heyy! What's up~...?" Kaito said in a dumb tone.

"I thought you two were supposed to help me, right? I'm so sorry you two." Meiko changed the subject while looking at Akito, Nene and An, who had to watch the whole thing. "I'm gonna take these two off your hands.

Meiko and the other two promise breakers soon head out aswell, leaving the three alone.

"Alrighty then! If you three are done with that, I say it's time we start discussing where we would be staying and what we will end up doing." Rui breaks the awkward silence caused by the chaotic situation.

"Aye aye sir!!!" Emu joins in, happier than ever, because she gets to do all of this with her friends.

And so the agreement that the two groups ended up with was: WxS have to perform two plays created by none other than, Rui, combined with some short musical performances. In between of it all, VBS get two short concerts, each of them being fifteen minutes.

The last thing that they would have to do is pack everything including props and equipment, and go to their destination.

A few weeks later, the fun begins.
