Work Text:

Kaeya stumbled down the streets of Mondstadt. His standing was wobbly, he could barely withstand his own weight. He was too drunk to function. He shouldn’t have gotten this drunk in the first place. There was a party celebrating some new knights at angels' share, and Diluc wasn't working so kaeya got slammed.

His home wasn't far from the tavern by any means, but it was hard to put one foot in front of the other when he saw eight feet instead of two.

He approached the concrete stairs. Gripping the railing tightly, he began to shimmy down. Something vile began to  bubble up in his stomach. The taste of vomit filled his mouth. Kaeya attempted to swallow it, but that only worsened the taste. He tipped forward slightly. A sharp taste flooded his mouth and slipped past his lips.

Kaeya heaved. The vomit dripped down onto the steps below him and some got caught on his shirt.

“Shyttttt…” he loudly groaned.

he took a trembling step forward, a fettle attempt to avoid the pile of vomit, but it was no use. His boots splashed into the family mess. Kaeya was too drunk to fix his footing. His boots slipped on the stairs, flying out from under him. He pitifully attempted to catch himself— BAM!

His forehead hit the edge of the stone stairs. A loud crack followed. Blood dripped down his forehead and slowly seeped into his eyes. The pain poured. Kaeya let out a whimper. There was a sound of boots in the distance, but it was blocked out by the ringing in his ears.

Suddenly he felt arms under his arms and hoisted him up off the ground. It was too blurry to make out the figure, for all he could see was red.

“Oh my archons you’re wasted aren't you?” the person scolded.

Diluc. Kaeya quickly registered the voice. Fuckkk hes the last person i want to see me like this.

Kaeya felt Diluc shift his position so that Kaeya was not leaning against his side. He watched through blurry eyes and Diluc took off his tie and wrapped it around the massive gash on his forehead. Kaeya groaned in pain, Diluc froze. His arms tensed at the noise. They sat there for a moment, Diluc not wanting to hurt him.

The blood started to seep through his tie. Diluc shook himself out of his thoughts. He began tightening the wrapping, applying subsequent pressure until the bleeding trickled to a stop.

“You smell disgusting.” Diluc remarked. His voice carried a bit of concern. “Who even let you get this drunk?”

“Was at knights.. Celebration…” Kaeya slurred.

Diluc scoffed “Of course. I should have guessed.” He wrapped his arm around his brother. “Cmon, let's get you home.”

“I dont need.. Help” kaeya weakly protested. Diluc yanked him closer in response.

“You can barely walk.” Diluc began to help him carefully up off the stairs. He grimaced at the stench of vomit. Kaeya’s home wasn't too far from where they currently were. But despite his home being so close, it took them double the time to get there. Kaeya was drunkenly blabbing about work and horses??? Diluc wasn't sure Kaeya was comprehensive enough to understand what words were coming out of his mouth. After ten minutes of incomprehensive yapping, Diluc stopped in front of Kaeya's home.

“Kaeya, give me your keys.” Diluc commanded.

“My eyes..?” Kaeya looked down at him in utter confusion. “But you already took one.”

Diluc was off offgaurd. He's drunk, he doesnt know what he's saying, he wouldn't bring that up. He's drunk, he's drunk. Diluc attempted to reassure himself and block out that memory.

“No your keys.” Diluc motioned to the door in front of them. “To unlock your house.”

“Ooohhh..” Kaeya fumbled around his pockets for a minute. And then he reached down the window in his uniform and pulled out a key ring. Diluc grimaced as he took the very warm keys from Kaeya's hand. Kaeya flimsily pointed to a gold key with blue sparkles “it's that oneeee…”

Diluc sighed in disappointment and unlocked the door. He dragged kaeya into his home.

Despite kaeya dressing himself very flamboyant and excessive, his home didn't reflect that. Instead, he had a very plain set up. It was filled with basic necessities such as a small kitchen and a couch, but decoration was sparse. He had one bookshelf near the couch— but only two out of its four shelves had books. The third self was picture frames, and the fourth was empty.

Diluc dropped Kaeya on the couch, and walked over to his kitchen.

“Kae. Where's your first aid kit?”

“Dont worry about that luc’. Im fineee…. You can go back to uhhh cuddling lohen or something..’

“Dont lie to my face. I watched as you busted your head after slipping and falling in a pile of your own vomit.”

“Ill just.. Walk it off in the morning…”

Diluc groaned. He was going in circles with this man. “Look. Just answer me. Where is your first aid kit.”

Kaeya grinned “The wine is in the pantry.”

Diluc glared at him from across the room. He began to rummage through kaeyas cabinets. It was filled with an absurd amount of snacks, obviously meant for klee. There was some regular food– and a cup of spiders for some odd reason.

After maybe two minutes of rummaging, he found it. It wasn't a good first aid kit, it was filled with sparkly band aids but no gauze. It had a few pain killers and disinfectant though. Diluc grabbed at least 10 of the band aids, disinfectant, and a water bottle. He walked back over to the couch. He kneeled beside it.

“Sit up kae.” He began to move to help kaeya, who rejected his help once again.

“I told you I'm fineee….” kaeya grumbled, but sat up anyway.

Diluc peeled back his makeshift bandages. The wound wasn't as big as when he first saw it. It was about three inches long, barely a centimeter wide. Dilcu dabbed disinfectant on it despite Kaeyas' whimpers of pain. He took his time, wiping up all the dried blood. Once he cleaned it up, he neatly applied the bandages.

After that, he shoved the water in Kaeya's hands before standing up. “If you're so fine, you’ll drink all of this then go see albedo in the morning.”

“I don’t need this water….”

“Your wasted. Drink or ill ban you from angels share.” Dilewtenduc threatened. He wouldn't actually do that, Kaeya would know that if he was sober. But he wasn't, so he complied.

“Fineee…” Kaeya groaned, taking small sips of the water.

Diluc sat around, watching him sober up. Making sure he was actually fine and not lying straight through his teeth.

And then he left. He would have stayed around longer, archons he wanted to. But it felt like Kaeya didn't want him there. He rejected his help and constantly pushed Diluc away.

Kaeya watched as Diluc left with a quick ‘take care.’ I don't need to take care, I'm fine. Kaeya tried to convince himself. It wasn't true. And Kaeya knew it. But maybe, just maybe if he lied enough it would be true.
