Work Text:
Your hand touched my shoulder, and I froze.
Even though that point of contact was normal for you, a light tap, a warmth that came and then went again, it was not for me.
For me, whose body had long since frozen over in the eternal isolation of years and years on end alone, it was like the sun had suddenly taken the place of my shoulderblade.
That sun burned, and burned, and burned and burned and burned and burned, melting away my ice, warming my body, giving the eternal winter the chance of summer once again. And as I leaned towards it…
You pulled away.
The ice rushed back. Whatever warmth that once kept it at bay had raised its white flag, and so it returned to claim its territory once again; except for that shoulder, where the sun had once rested. That was still warm, traces of that ethereal plasma still on its bed.
I didn’t know how to explain it to you, so you walked away, the burn you had left still there, still warm. I touched it.
And I cried.
