Work Text:
You carve my features from darkened wood
You drill nails in my chest but not a stain of red on your perfect hands
You wrap your wretched needle through my mouth as I scream into a silent void
I pray to anyone above that a single tear be shed from my lifeless eyes, but my altar to you, oh god of all, remains still and forgotten
And forgotten I am, for I am a puppet, a toy for you to play with as you laugh at my helplessness
My mind was twisted and warped by your games of pretend
I beg not for relief, not for joy, but to feel something, anything, no matter how agonizing
Please, just end this emptiness
Let my husk burn, and let life be born from those ashes
Great puppeteer, cut my strings and let me free.
I don’t need you to make me like those more fortunate than I, alive and happy
I just need to feel free, even if the cutting of my strings drops me into a darkness where I will burn for eternity.
As long as I feel, I am not helpless
