Work Text:
Furina was about to go to bed when she heard a knock at the door. She frowned, wondering who could possibly be visiting at this hour, and walked over to open it.
“Neuvillette?”
The Iudex was standing in front of her. He was still wearing his usual attire and, for some reason, seemed a little uncomfortable.
“Good evening, Lady Furina.”
“Good evening... What are you doing here?”
Neuvillette opened his mouth to answer, but it took him a few seconds before he actually said anything. Furina tilted her head.
“Neuvillette?”
“I...”
He paused for a moment and looked away.
“I wanted to see you.”
Furina blinked.
“At this hour?”
“Yes. Well... I didn't plan on coming this late.”
“That doesn't answer my question.”
He let out a small sigh.
“I know.”
Furina smiled at the sight of him. It was unusual. Neuvillette normally had such a commanding presence, always seeming to know exactly what to say. But right now, he looked like he was desperately searching for the right words, occasionally glancing to the side.
“Did something happen?”
“No, nothing bad, actually.”
He looked at her again.
“I just realized that it had been several days since we'd last seen each other.”
Furina lowered her gaze slightly.
“Oh?”
“And... during that time, I kept thinking about you, and...”
Neuvillette paused again.
“I missed you.”
Furina's heart skipped a beat.
“You could have just said that from the beginning.”
“I tried...”
“No, you were beating around the bush.”
“Perhaps.”
Furina let out a small laugh.
“Come here.”
Before he could react, she wrapped her arms around him.
Neuvillette froze for a second, caught off guard, before wrapping his arms around her in return. He closed his eyes and gently rested his face against her hair, for a few moments, neither of them said anything.
“This was what you wanted, wasn't it?” Furina murmured.
Neuvillette finally relaxed, a small smile appearing on his face.
“I feel much better now. Perhaps you were right.”
“I knew it, i know you very well.”
She snuggled a little closer against him.
“You can come see me whenever you miss me, you know?”
Neuvillette held her a little tighter.
“I'll remember that whenever I need it.” He said feeling more relaxed
Furina smiled.
“You’d better, Furina said, watching as the clouds in the sky, threatening rain, slowly began to disperse."
