Get It Right

Summary:

Comebacks were stressful by themselves. Jimin pushed himself hard enough during comebacks without added pressure from their company. Of course comebacks with your ex-boyfriend who you need to pretend to still be dating are obviously the greatest idea ever, especially when that ex is happier without you being in their life.

All Park Jimin wants is to make it through their comeback without messing everything up with Yoongi even more than it already is. Is that too much to ask?

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Jin was right. Jin was right when he said this wasn’t a good idea. Of course it shouldn’t take being locked in a bathroom the size of a janitor’s closet crying his eye out for Jimin to realize that this was not in any way a good idea. Yet here he was trying to stem the flow of tears that were making his already ruined makeup a disaster. One harsh word…one nasty comment taking things too far was all it took to make him excuse himself from the view of the cameras and the rest of the world to hide in the bathroom and bawl for the last fifteen minutes. He couldn’t breathe his fingers were shaking and he could see them getting worse without another set of fingers holding tightly to them to try and help somehow. His lips were numb and his cheeks burnt with heartache that crawled over their apples and down over his neck. His vision was blurring and it felt all too alone. This panic was nothing new but facing it alone was a daunting and terrifying task.

So he tried desperately to breathe in and out and calm the rapid beating in his chest but it was no use. He almost didn’t hear the violent knocks on the bathroom door through the thrumming sound that was filling his head. “Jimin open the door!” Jimin could only gasp quietly in response before burrowing further into his knees and cutting off more oxygen to his already deprived lungs. He should have known he couldn’t do this without Yoongi. He wasn’t strong like everyone thought. He had cut off the cameras enough or hid away in the corners of rooms while panicking to know that without the other man holding his hands and reassuring him he’d fall apart. “Jimin please…”

Something brings Jimin’s fingers forward to click the lock out of the place. He’s not even sure if he really remembers it but he remembers the look that filled the blond rapper’s eyes as soon as the door swung open. The cameras that had been around the corner instantly are shut out when the door swings closed behind Yoongi. The blond had not seen the younger in such a state of disarray since the night they broke up and he packed all his bags and left. Jimin’s face was redder than a tomato and his eyes were flooded with tears as he desperately fought to bring air into his lungs. His body shook violently like an unrelenting chill had settled into his bones. It was terrifying to watch the other boy, as strong as he was, fall apart like this.

They’re alone and Jimin isn’t in the right mind to worry over that as his body all but launches into the other’s arms. “Please…I know you hate me but I just…I can’t do this…I can’t…I can’t…I…” Yoongi’s exceptionally tight hands loosen from around his arms where they had landed when catching Jimin.

“Shush…Jimin look at me…” Jimin doesn’t budge still too lost in the fear of failing and the panic of seeing too many possible outcomes in his mind to be brought back to reality. It broke Yoongi to pieces to know that this was what the other got for all his hard work and perfectionism. Panic attacks that could tear him down in a moment’s notice.
