“Shut up.”
A laugh echoed through the forest — or at least it felt like it to Shadow.
Irritating.
He shook one ear in frustration and sat down on a nearby fallen trunk. How Sonic managed to convince him to race every single time he asked was beyond him. Shadow scoffed and rolled his eyes, tuning out that blue gumball son of a bitch.
Instead, he focused on his surroundings. The forest was painted in warm hues of orange and red, birds flitting nearby. Night birds chirped faintly in the distance. It was late. How long had they been running? How long resting atop this hill?
Shadow blinked, shifting his attention back to the— “Shit!” He chaos controlled away. “What. The. Fuck!” he growled at his rival, taking the offended ear where the other hedgehog fucking blew and who was now doubled over laughing.
Typical. Oh, how he’d pay for this. He just needed to move slowly, like a tiger stalking its prey. His eyes burned bright, red as the blood he wanted to draw from Sonic. Unsuspecting, Sonic continued rolling on the ground. He needed to get just a little closer.
“Y-Y’know, I actually just wanted to catch your attention. I didn’t know you were completely—” Shadow leapt onto his rival, punching him hard on the side. Sonic let out a groan as he collided to the ground.
“Ow, dude!” Sonic grabbed his side, rolling to dodge another deadly punch from his rival. Finally settling in the game, the blue menace smirked as he threw a few punches of his own, setting the rhythm of the fight to a tango.
No matter the kick, the tumble of limbs or the punches were always countered by a dodge, a counterattack. It was exhilarating for them both, however, for once, Shadow was enjoying the scenery. Frustrated with the only one who could hold his own in a fight against him, he snarled and he bit down on his shoulder.
It wasn’t the first time he played dirty, and neither it was for Sonic. The blue hedgehog hissed in pain, pushing hard to get Shadow off him. However, the more he pushed, the more the bite hurt because of the death grip the black hedgehog had on him. A menacing growl escaped Shadow’s throat as he felt Sonic relax beneath him.
“Shads, can you let go? Ow, ow, OW!”
Sonic groaned in frustration. Why did he have to be such a huge piece of shit just for a harmless prank? The more he moved, the harder and stronger the bite felt, so, with nothing better to do, he surrendered. Feeling the blue hedgehog tap on the ground, Shadow let go and moved farther away.
“I win.”
Sonic at that rolled his eyes, unamused. He brought his hand on the new wound, hissing as pain shot through the area. At least it wasn’t bleeding as much as he had expected.
“Yeah, whatever. Not like you could win in a fair fight, anyway.”
Shadow smirked.
"Look at the that. Sonic the Hedgehog acting like a sore little loser."
Sonic punched Shadow lightly, but the black hedgehog left it at that.
The hardships of the day were taking a toll on his sore muscles. GUN mission, Eggman, Sonic. A yawn escaped from his rival. It seemed like it was the same for him.
The sun was slowly disappearing, leaving space to the moon and the stars.
