Chapter Text
Seon Ahyeon sketched out the designs on the fleece fabric lightly with pencil, his lips curved in a soft smile. The speaker gently played the playlist Kim Raebin had made for him at a comfortably low volume. He hadn’t finished listening to every song in this playlist, but he had yet to find a song he didn’t like on it. He fit the embroidery hoop on the butter yellow fleece fabric and threaded his needle.
Pierce. Pull. Repeat. He got into a rhythm, losing track of time as he sewed. Pierce. Pull. Repeat. Ahyeon hummed along to I Like The Wait, which had started playing now. Pierce, pull, repeat.
It was their first vacation as TeSTAR. His phone buzzed on his bed occasionally, in what Ahyeon assumed was their group chat. Everyone had gone home for the week, and he was in his studio apartment. Well, everyone except Park Moondae, who chose to stay in the dorms. Moondae wasn’t all that active in the group chat, as usual. Well, he wasn’t a very chatty person, anyway.
Pierce, pull, repeat.
Hm, Sejin said he was going to visit the dorm for a bit. Ahyeon wondered if he should, too. The doorbell rang. Ahyeon put down the hoodie and opened the door to let his housekeeper in. He wasn’t the best at cooking. That’s a lie, he was awful at it. His housekeeper was a sweet older lady hired by his parents to prepare his meals and handled his household chores. She got to work, and Ahyeon returned to his bed.
Pierce, pull, repeat.
It was calming, the repetitiveness of it all. He could shut off his thoughts and engross himself in the mundane action. The song changed.
Ahyeon was done with the first shirt. He cut off the loose thread and smoothed over the pattern, smiling at the finished work. It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t the best, but he was proud of it. He folded it neatly and put it away.
On to the next one.
The scratchy sound of the pencil sketching over the brown fabric almost sang with the music as Ahyeon sank back into the rhythm. He fit the new fabric onto the embroidery hoop and threaded his needle with a different thread.
Pierce. Pull. Repeat.
It’s a bit late into the night by the time he’s done with the second one. The housekeeper left in the evening. Ahyeon’s stomach grumbled, but he was strangely satisfied. He folded up the second hoodie and put it with the other one before heading to the kitchen for dinner.
“For us?”
Keun Sejin and Park Moondae blinked in sync, surprised. Ahyeon held back a giggle.
“Y… Yes… I hope you like it…”
“Ahh! Thank you, Ahyeon-Ahyeon! But why…? Not that I’m not grateful, I love it-!”
“Probably for your birthday?” Moondae’s calm voice cut through Sejin’s rambling. “But that doesn’t explain why you made one for me…?”
“Oh, no! It’s not your birthday gift, I have that in my bag… I’ll g-give it to you later, um. This was… just… as a gift…? I, um. I made it j-just for fun…” Ahyeon trailed off, fiddling with the hem of his shirt, a bit bashful.
Moondae broke the silence, smiling. “Thank you, Ahyeon-ah. I’ll treasure it.”
“Me too! We can match!” Sejin grinned. He ran his fingers over the brown bear embroidered over the chocolate-milk-coloured fleece hoodie.
Moondae laughed at that. “Sure, we can.” His was a butter yellow, with a cute welsh corgi embroidered on it. It reminded Moondae of the time they’d worn animal costumes and visited the fan advertisements during Idol Inc. He had never thought he would think back on those days fondly. The three of them talked about their respective week off, and strangely, the current moment felt more fulfilling than the entire past week.
