Snow was falling. In front of Parrot stood a poorly made house, although it felt familiar. The familiarity felt disgusting and miserable. It was a weird feeling, considering he had no memory of the house. Maybe it’d be a nice place to stay, even. To get away from the cold.
He blinked, and suddenly the snow felt colder.
The person who stood in front of him sure didn’t help that feeling.
Ashswag?
Parrot tried to open his mouth to say something, anything, even to just ask what was happening. Even a supposed enemy’s response meant something to him.
He heard a voice he barely recognized— his own.
“Using his stasis chamber as something to manipulate me is so… pathetic.”
A moment of silence. “No one on this server will ever be friends. Not unless we’re all united, for one cause, one reason. Join me, Parrot. We can all be friends.” Ash’s voice was so oddly friendly, but he knew better. He could hear the corruption behind the sweetness.
A potion is dropped in front of him. It was translucent, tinted with a light gray color. Invisibility. Parrot recognized it easily. He’d used it plenty of times before.
Looking up from the potion, Parrot stared at Ash as he picked it up. He looked down at his hand, his brain fighting itself for what to do. He looked up at Wifies. Wifies…
There was a slight shake of his head. Ash smiled wider, as though he’d also seen it. He couldn’t have, he was looking away.
A splash, the sound of glass breaking on the ground. The potion lands right next to one of the diamond trimmed players, renewing his invisibility for a few more minutes.
“Interesting.” Ash sounded amused, yet sarcastic. As though this would lead to a worse outcome for Parrot than it would himself.
Before Parrot can gather his thoughts properly, Ash whips around and pulls out a fishing rod, aiming directly at Wifies. Click.
The death message pops up in chat, and that’s all Parrot sees. He makes a noise he wasn’t even sure was possible until this moment. He hears Ash demand the diamond trim kill Parrot, and suddenly he’s running, and running, and running… until his vision goes completely dark and he can’t tell whether or not he’s still moving, whether or not he can move at all.
His eyes open slowly, as though he’s unsure if he’s allowed to open them. He’s in his bed, the memory of the nightmare slowly fading. Parrot takes a deep breath, just glad it was only a dream. He glances over at the window, noticing the sun has barely risen. The lamp, its base wrapped with a piece of purple fabric, was glowing vaguely, letting him know it was time to get up.
The ripped up calendar, unused since January, hung on the wall. Parrot studied it for a while, before sighing and just walking past. He couldn’t bring himself to use it anymore. Not since somewhere around the 21st, although he couldn’t recall why.
Suddenly Parrot froze. The name Wifies replayed in his head, over and over, unrelenting.
He tried to think of something else, of anything else. Who was Wifies? Why was this name important to him?
He hadn’t even noticed he’d gone against the wall and sunk to the floor. His breathing quickened and he felt nauseous. He looks around, trying to find something or someone to help him.
But Wifies was gone. He’d been dead since January 21st. He’d been killed, and…
Maybe the nightmare wasn’t just a nightmare.
