Work Text:
There once was a god. The Absolute. The Absolute had soldiers of Light and Dark. Crafted, to fight eternally. Light and Dark warring for entertainment. There was a betrayal from within the Light. Killing The Absolute. Maybe you have heard this story. This origin. But…
Is that really what happened?
Once upon a time, there were eight siblings in a grand palace. These eight siblings, winged like angles, were the children of The God of The Supreme. The God of The Supreme had created these eight from primordial Light itself.
As many siblings will, they squabbled and argued over simple things.
“It's my turn!” “Nah uh, get your own magic artifact!” Two of the Light siblings, one we shall call Vivid, the fourth sibling and Brightest, the second sibling argued. “You always get to play with that one though!” “Becouse it’s mine!” Vivid crosses their arms, wings fluffed in frustration.
“But I want a turn!” Vivid’s voice raises. “I said no!” Brightest held the magic object higher. Vivid’s wings puff up more in indignation.
“Ugh…insuffrable.” Greatest, the first sibling sighs. “Can’t you just go separate directions already…”
The eighth sibling, Incandescent, quickly joins the conversation. “Are we taking turns with magic artifacts??” The others groan, responding in unison. “NO.”
“Oh,”
“Here.” Greatest holds out two magic artifacts to Vivid and Incandescent. Both siblings happily grab the offered objects. “Yay!” They run off in different directions.
“Why do you have two?” Brightest asks, looking at Greatest. Greatest shrugs.
Later, Brightest approaches their creator, The God of The Supreme. “Dad, why does Greatest have more fancy magic artifacts than us?” The creator does not look away, from where they are pulling stars, and stretching constellations. “Oh Greatest? They are my favorite. I like them better.”
“Wait…favoritoism?”
“Yeah why? Are you trying to become the favorite next?”
Brightest stays quiet. Having a moment of realization.
Maybe the creator isn’t so fair and loving.
Brightest speaks to the other six siblings. “I think we are being treated unfairly.” Vivid nods. “Yeah, not enough sharing.”
The fifth sibling, Glimmering, speaks up. “What exactly are you thinking?”
“To get Dad to treat us all equal.” Brightest states.
Glimmering tilts their head. “By doing…?”
“Violence!” Brightest raises a fist. The other siblings cheer.
“And Bightest then pushed the creator down the stairs. That's how it really happened.” Ashborn says. Pointing at a diagram depicting how falling down the stairs works.
Jinwoo blinks. “What?”
