Work Text:
Fallon was in her room, she grumbled as a knock on her door just so happened to sound out. She turned to walk to the front doorstep and barely got the energy to get up and open it, just to see Chanel outside. The sorority president was fiddling with the silk of her gloves, looking up at Fallon when the door had opened.
"Do you... Need anything?" Fallon said, crossing her arms as she tapped her foot on the floor. Impatiently, Chanel stopped playing around with her gloves and sighing before speaking up. "Fallon, you... Look awful, after we got out that building, you look much worser." Chanel said in a worrried tone, it was obvious she didn't like how Fallon was so much... Stubborn, stern, and solemn these days. Fallon rolled her eyes, "What can I say... It's just... Work, work is just being a pain in the ass." The baker looked away from Chanel, who didn't take her excuse.
"No, seriously. I know something's wrong, you can tell me! Or... The others who got out." Chanel paced around the area outside Fallon's doorstep, her brows furrowed before she abruptly stopped walking when Fallon spoke up again. "I... It's okay, really. You shouldn't be wasting all your time on trying to help a person who's 'perfectly' fine." The Baker took a step back to close the door. Chanel wanted to stop her from shutting the door, but refrained.
"... Maybe she is right, maybe she is fine and I'm just... Bothering her for nothing."
"... Maybe she's right and I'm wrong, I don't feel so... Well."
Chanel walked off onto the street, making it across the other side. She walked and walked back to her home, which was just a few blocks away from Fallon's. But she couldn't shake off this feeling, this feeling of unease. That Fallon isn't as okay as she says she is.
Fallon was now back in her room, she was curled up into a ball on her bed. She didn't want to be this vulnerable, it felt scary to be this... Sad, she groaned into her pillow. "Ughhhh! I'm already at home but I... Don't feel any better than I was back 'there.'" She muttered to herself, she grit her teeth as she thought to herself. She... Probably just need some sleep! That's all she needed, probably.
She stuffed her face into her pillow, trying to fall asleep. Eventually she manages to get sleep.
Her "dreams" are more of... Nightmares, she was sitting at a chair in the very same table she discussed at with the others. Except, there were cuffs over her hands. Everyone was staring at her, she didn't want to have all the attention on her.
Every murmur, every whisper. It had. Her. Name.
She was in a state of panic, her breathing got heavier and heavier with each breath. Her voice was shaky, she could only say her words as quiet as a whisper. "Shut... Up...." She felt dread, fear, like no other. The ghosts, the apparitions didn't stop. They didn't stop speaking her name, she just wanted them to shut up.
But they didn't.
Fallon? It's all your fault, they died. They died because of you, everyone is dead because of you.
"Shut up. Shut up..!" She muttered it over and over, her hands were clenched into fists as she turned away from the others. This all had to be a dream, Fallon wanted to smack herself in the face and jolt up like she always did when she had a nightmare. But she couldn't, she was strapped into the chair, after all. She finally felt weak, it was as if multiple people were whispering about her into her ear, because how else would she be hearing her name?
"Shut up!" Fallon yelled as loud as she could, but she realized. It really was just a dream, and now she was sitting up in her bed.
She sighed out of relief, she fiddled with her hands as she got up to make herself some breakfast. Fallon looked at the clock which was now showing that it was daytime, it seemed that when she got to the kitchen. She started to try and make herself a good sandwich or two, maybe. Even though she felt like a wreck, her skills at preparing food were still... Okayish in a way.
She cursed under her breath, her neighbours were definitely not happy with her yelling at 6:47 in the morning. But Fallon didn't care about her pesky neighbours, after all. They were all demonic beings in her opinion, she sighed as she grabbed the plate of sandwiches and went to a chair and sat down. She took a few bites of the ham and cheese, it tasted quite good.
Fallon soon finished the sandwiches that she had made, but she probably wasn't going to be able to keep it down. It had only been a few hours, but she didn't feel so good, she stood up and walked to the bathroom. She got onto her knees near the toilet bowl, trying to throw up the food she had ate only one to two hours ago. Bile rose up from her throat, it burned. But she just wanted to get some more rest after this, she threw up the contents of her stomach and got back up. She rinsed her face at the sink and walked back to her bedroom.
Some rest will help, maybe...
Fallon fiddled with the hem of her sleeve as she sat down on her bed, she waited in silence for a few seconds before turning to lay down.
She felt, really guilty. Maybe it was because... She couldn't save the others, she decided to stop sulking and actually get some rest. She closed her eyes, and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Chanel was pacing around the living room of the sorority building, she was worried about Fallon. A lot, she looked at the rain pouring outside. Some of the droplets sticking to the windows, she decided to focus on tailoring a dress for a client of hers. It seemed that the girl was going to a fashion contest and wanted to show off the dress she wore, and so Chanel headed back into her room to work on it.
Tailoring... Wasn't all so easy as many thought, you had to get the fabrics, sew it, and maybe get a splinter or two on the process of making commissioned clothing. Chanel tried to be a bit more careful, after all. The fashion competition was in a few weeks, she had plenty of time to make this dress!
She just... Couldn't shake the feeling of unease off of her mind, her thoughts would probably wander off during the process of tailoring the dress. She'd head to sit on a couch that was in the tailoring room, yes. There is a couch.
She slouched in the couch, her head leaned back against the leather of it. All of the events that had happened in the past month, them getting into the death game and somehow escaping. It all felt like a fever dream, but it wasn't. Multiple people were dead, luckily the game hosts let them go after they got the last mafia out. That was... A relief to her, just the thought of living in that hellhole of a train station, the chances were slim.
But... She was alive, Fallon was alive too. And that was all that mattered, just the two of them lived. Oh, and... The other six, Chanel didn't really care about them. Except for Callum who was her brother, he was never really a good person. But she loved him, they were both siblings, and that scientifically couldn't change.
Chanel would try to stop thinking about the fact that she was in a death game a month ago, and rather focus on what the present had to offer.
Let the past be the past...
After a while, she wanted to go check up on Fallon again. She stood up and walked out of the tailoring room, and to the front door of the sorority building. She then got out of there, she walked at a pace that wouldn't be considered running, but still a fast one. She didn't want anyone to look like a madwoman trying to barge into someone's house, she arrived at the front porch. Chanel noticed that none of Fallon's neighbours wanted to check up on her, gee.
Did they really not care about Fallon? The kind Fallon, the Fallon who helped her at her lowest time in the death game, the Fallon who took care of her when she felt too sick to even go out of her room? THE Fallon who protected her from the Mafia in the game?
... She should just get this over with, Chanel doesn't want to interact with scumbags like them. The sorority president walked up to the door and knocked on it, but. There... Wasn't an answer? She waited a minute or two but the Baker still hadn't answered the door. She noticed that the door was unlocked, as it was slightly ajar when she looked a bit closer. She thought it would be an invasion of privacy, but... She was worried.
It wouldn't hurt to take a quick peek, right?
She slowly walked into the house and closed the front door, she walked around the modest home. Maybe showing around the area's she shouldn't have, but then Chanel stopped at the bedroom door.
Chanel put her ear to the door, and could sound out quiet mutters. Though it was only one person saying the murmurs, it sounded similar to Fallon's voice. After all, sticking around her for a long time caused her to recognize that sweet voice from anywhere she could hear.
She couldn't make out what Fallon was saying, maybe she should... Knock? She held up her hand to the door and knocked on it thrice. She could hear the murmurs stop abruptly, and finally get a clearer understanding of Fallon's voice. "W-Who's there?"
"Fallon, it's me. Chanel." Chanel said as she slowly pried open the door to an unpleasant sight. Fallon seemed to have dropped a metal object on the floor, quickly rolling up her sleeves as blood slightly dripped onto the carpet in the middle of the room. The baker looked astonished, she swiftly turned away from Chanel. "Don't... Look." She said as she grabbed a box of tissues and wiped the cuts on her arms.
"I- Fallon..? What are you doing...?" Chanel said, taking a step forward towards Fallon. She held her hand out to the other, "I... You can talk to me, Fal. You aren't doing well by what just fucking happened..." Fallon rolled down her sleeves and turned to Chanel again.
"No, no it's... Fine." Fallon said, obviously ignoring the fact that she was harming herself. Chanel gave her a knowing look, Fallon gave her an awkward smile before it quickly vanished. "... Maybe not fine." She said as she went to sit down at her bed, patting the space next to her for Chanel to sit. She practically jumped onto the space next to her, Chanel gave her a worried look, she held the Baker's arms and glanced at it. "You're... Probably gonna get an infection if you don't properly clean those cuts."
Fallon rolled her eyes, grumbling but she nods slowly. "I... Guess." Chanel stood up and patted her shoulder, "Stay here, I'll... Go get the medkit the game had supplied for the doctor's." Right, Chanel could keep the medkit since she was a doctor. The sorority president ran off into the kitchen, where she had left the medkit on the sink. She grabbed it and went back into the bedroom where Fallon was waiting patiently.
She sat back near the space that Fallon had made for her, and opened the medkit, she grabbed an alcohol swab and rolled up Fallon's sleeve. The taller looked a bit uncomfortable, the cuts were still fresh. Chanel seemed to notice her discomfort and looked up at her, "I uhm, I could look away if that helps." She said to her, Fallon replied in a more relaxed tone when she said that. "Yea, that would definitely help."
It would be difficult, but she knew where the wounds were located, she slightly turned her head away and said to Fallon. "This might sting a bit." Chanel said before slowly cleaning the wound so that Fallon doesn't get an infection or anything. Fallon slightly winced but managed to stay in place, Chanel then pulled out some gauze and held Fallon's arm by the elbow. It was a bit stiff but she managed to wrap the gauze around her wrists, "And... There. That should do it."
Fallon looked at her arms, it didn't feel like such an eyesore to her anymore. "I uhm... T-Thanks." Fallon looked at Chanel who gently smiled at her, she could feel blush slowly creep onto her face as she covered it with her collar.
The two then sat in silence for around 10 minutes, both of them doing some things that distracted them. Chanel then looked at Fallon again, asking a question that Fallon probably would've been uncomfortable with. But isn't really now. "Do you... Want to talk about it?" Fallon froze for a few seconds, but managed to compose herself. "... Yea, I actually really want to."
Chanel started to ask some questions, just one at a time, not to fast to overwhelm Fallon. But just right. "So uhm, when did you start feeling this... Way?" Fallon thought about it for a while before answering. "Just... A few days after the death game, I don't know what got into me. I just felt... Guilty. Guilty about 'their' deaths." Chanel felt a bit sorrowful as Fallon continued. "I thought it was my fault, that they died. And then... All this happened."
"I... See, it isn't your fault though. They died, they died from the Mafia's hands. Not yours." Chanel said to Fallon, she held her hand as Fallon nodded. "It'll be okay, I'm here. For you."
The two of them looked at each other and slowly enveloped the other in their warmth, hugging each other for a minute or two before they pulled away.
"... Thank you, for being here with me."
