Work Text:

“Master, I’m so bored,” Ahsoka whines. They’d been stuck on the Resolute for days, and Ahsoka was starting to get tired of having nothing to do.

Anakin doesn’t look up from his datapad. “Go find Jesse and bother him. I have work to do.”

Ahsoka rolls her eyes and leaves their quarters to go hunt down the trooper. When she finds Jesse in the clones’ barracks, there were several of the men in a huddle, watching something.

“Jesse? Fives? Echo?” Ahsoka calls. “What are you guys doing?”

“Commander!” Fives says. “Join us! We’re watching a holo movie.”

“It’s actually a horror holo movie,” Echo mutters.

“Echo’s just a scaredy cat,” Jesse cackles.

“Can I watch it with you guys? Master thinks I’m annoying.”

“Sure thing Commander. The General’s probably busy calling the Senator anyways,” Fives snickers.

They scoot aside and Ahsoka snuggles between Fives and Jesse. “What’s this movie about?”

“So far, it’s about a girl called Coraline who first moves into this weird creepy house and her parents basically leave her alone all day,” Jesse supplies.

Echo continues, “And then her weird neighbor Wylie gives her this doll with button eyes that looks exactly like Coraline.”

“That’s kinda creepy,” Ahsoka says.

“That’s what I said!” Echo exclaims.

“Alright, everyone calm down. I’m resuming the movie,” Jesse says sternly.

They watch as Coraline discovers a small doorway. “Ten credits that it transports her to a magical place,” Fives says.

The mom opens the door and there’s nothing but a brick wall behind it. “You owe us all ten,” Echo tells him with a wicked grin.

Fives huffs, “There will be a portal. Believe me.”

Seven minutes later, Fives jumps up and shouts, “I told you! It’s a magical portal! You all will regret doubting me.”

“Sit down, Fives,” Echo mutters. “We get it. You’re always right.”

Fives sits back down, but tilts his chin up. “I’m an ARC trooper. I know things before others do.”

Ahsoka smirks, “Are we sure about that?”

Fives immediately put up two hands. “Of course, the Commander always knows best.” he amends quickly. “So does General Skywalker.”

Ahsoka nods in satisfaction. “Continue the movie,” she instructs Echo.

They meet the Other Mother and Father, who gives Coraline the attention that her real parents never gave her. “I have a bad feeling about this,” Jesse mutters.

Some thirty minutes later, the Other Mother asks Coraline if she would like buttons sewn to her eyes, and Ahsoka notices that Echo clutches his pillow tighter. “I don’t like this,” he says, glancing around nervously. Fives slaps him in the back. “Oh Echo. Are you scared of a movie?”

“No!” Echo shoots back defensively. “It’s just… this one gives me a bad mood.”

“Quiet, you two.” Jesse snaps.

They learn about the three ghost children, who explain that the Other Mother is actually an evil demon. Coraline escapes with the aid of a mysterious black cat, but only to go back home and realize her real parents had been kidnapped. Echo whimpers, and Ahsoka scoots closer to him, holding out her hand, which the trooper grabs and squeezes tightly.

When Coraline goes on her quest to find the eyes, Fives’ breathing starts to quicken, and Jesse shoots him a questioning look. “This movie’s quite intense,” the ARC explains, but Ahsoka could see that his hands were clenched.

When the Other Mother starts transforming and attacks Coraline, Fives lets out a strangled scream and tackles Echo in a hug, who was so immersed in the movie that he yelps in surprise. The two go down and Ahsoka and Jesse give each other a smile. After that, Fives hides his face in Echo’s shoulder while the latter couldn’t tear his gaze away from the screen. After the movie ends, the two look traumatized while Jesse shrugs and high fives Ahsoka.

“That wasn’t so bad, eh, Commander?” he asks.

“Nope!” she replies back enthusiastically. “That was fun! We should do that again sometime.”

“I agree,” Fives tried to say cheerfully, but he looked half terrified. “Totally wasn’t scared right Echo?” he elbows his brother, who looked around in a daze.

Ahsoka shakes her head and makes her way to the cafeteria, where she sees her Master sitting with Rex. “Hey Master!”

“Snips,” he greets. “How was the movie?”

Ahsoka frowns. “How’d you know I was watching a movie?”

“Rex told me when he went to the barracks to grab his datapad.”

“Yes,” Rex confirms. “I walked in, and I saw you, Jesse, Fives, and Echo huddled together watching Coraline. How was it, by the way?”

“It was really good! Pretty sure Fives and Echo are scared of buttons now, though.”

Anakin frowns. “That movie isn’t even that scary.”

Ahsoka’s head whips to him. “You’ve seen Coraline?”

He shrugs. “Padme made me watch it once.”

Ahsoka and Rex share a look. “What?” Anakin asks. Ahsoka has to hide her smile by grabbing the rest of Rex’s ration bar and shoving it in her mouth. “Hey!” The Captain exclaims. “You could’ve gotten your own!”

Ahsoka shrugs. “But why would I get up and grab one if yours is right there?”

Rex glares and Anakin laughs, the sound traveling through the cafeteria and Ahsoka could feel a warmth in her chest. Maybe watching movies with the men wasn't so bad. Maybe they could watch something called ‘Scream’ next. Jesse had told her he’s heard good reviews on it.

Notes:

Again, I suck at endings so hopefully this one wasn’t too bad. Hope you liked this short drabble!
