Work Text:
It's been a few weeks now since Cassie was pronounced dead in the hospital. Gregory was reliving every moment just before the elevator fell when he was cut off by the Mimic. He tried everything possible to get her out of there safely, and it wasn't enough. Now she was gone forever, and Gregory was sitting at her grave thinking of the memories he made with her over the time he knew her.
“Cassie, if you are hearing this right now, I know we had a rough time throughout our friendship. The times where I was distant, or didn't treat you how a friend should. I know I was not myself at that time, but you definitely deserved so much better than that.”
“Not only were you an amazing friend, you were my only friend. Every moment I got to spend with you was the best of my life. You gave me a home where I could feel safe, when I didn't have one. You helped me break away from the hardest points of my life when I was dealing with Glitchtrap. Besides that every time we were around each other I felt something, I never really felt before. I-I think- actually I know I had a crush on you,”
“I felt that way for a while, but never had the courage to say anything. I didn't want to mess up the best thing I had, our friendship. You meant so much to me Cassie, and I remember every memory for the rest of my life.”
“I’m sorry I didn't tell you about how I felt sooner, I really wish I could go back and change everything. I’m sorry I couldn't save you in time from the Mimic… I really hope the afterlife is treating you well though, my one true friend.”
Gregory begins feeling tears fall from his eyes as he was getting through his message, before a butterfly flies on his shoulder. It felt like it was telling him not to blame himself for not being able to save her, and that she is there listening to him, and will be forever…
