It was a quiet afternoon in Fontaine when someone knocked on Furina’s door. When she opened it, she found Neuvillette standing outside.
“Neuvillette? What a surprise. What are you doing here?”
He gave her a small smile.
“I really wanted to see you.”
Furina raised an eyebrow, amused.
“Just like that?”
“Just like that yes.”
She couldn’t help but smile as she stepped aside to let him in. They spent the afternoon talking over tea and chatting about things that had to do with their lives. Neuvillette seemed particularly relaxed, enjoying Furina’s company without paying much attention to the passing time.
When he finally decided it was time to leave, Furina walked him to the door.
“Well, see you tomorrow.”
Before he could step away, Furina gave him a farewell hug.
“Thanks for coming, Neuvillette.”
Neuvillette immediately returned the hug. However, when she tried to pull away, he kept his arms around her.
Furina waited a few seconds, but he still didn’t let go. She looked up at him.
“Aren’t you going to let me go?”
“Not yet.”
She smiled.
“And why’s that?”
Neuvillette lowered his head slightly, resting his cheek against her hair.
“I like hugging you.”
Furina was quiet for a moment, caught off guard by how direct he had been.
“You’ve been pretty affectionate lately.”
“Does it bother you?”
“Not at all Neuvillette.”
Furina settled back into his arms.
“Although I have to admit, I used to have to come up with all kinds of excuses just to get a hug from you.”
Neuvillette smiled.
“Then I suppose I can save you the trouble from now on.”
“Oh? You can?”
He pulled her a little closer against his chest.
“Of course. You can ask me for one whenever you want.”
Furina smiled, clearly delighted.
“Then I think I’m going to take advantage of that quite a lot.”
“I don’t see a problem with that.”
She let out a small laugh and closed her eyes.
“Then why don’t you stay a little longer?”
Neuvillette pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, only to then bring his face close to hers
“That’s exactly what I was planning to do.”
