Work Text:
Fire raged in the valley. Smoke, and the smell of flame-grilled lamb, wafted through the Welsh hills. Between UNIT trucks, Ace commando-crawled through squelching mud, leggings filling with sodden earth.
“I know half the Cynon Valley is alight, Captain,” said the Doctor, as he tapped his umbrella’s tip against a rock. “But shooting the dragon won’t extinguish the flames!”
“Professor!” Ace handbrake turned the Land Rover to a stop beside him.
The Doctor gripped the dashboard and tipped his hat to the UNIT captain as Ace sped away.
“Very good, Ace,” he said, peering over his shoulder. “How did you prevent them following?”
Ace grinned.
“I let down their tyres.”
