Work Text:
Nedzu frowned as he prepared a cup of tea. It was the first day of the school year, and already he was upset with a certain set of events that had come to his attention. The first and most glaring was the fact that All Might was in his school. He didn’t hate the Symbol of Peace, oh heavens no. He was just… annoyed. Yes, that was the word. He was annoyed with Toshinori Yagi. The man had been forced upon him by the Commission, which by itself was troublesome, but had forced the man into his school with no actual training. He knew nothing about how the school system worked.
Oh, Nedzu knew that Yagi was trying. Yagi wasn’t cruel or intentionally stupid. He just was out of touch. And that was what really drove him up the walls and led into the second thing that was upsetting the chimera. He had chosen a successor for One for All. That by itself was… exciting. Especially when the chimera got his hands on the boy’s files. The new commission president had been far more willing to work with the hero schools, and when he had asked about getting said files for a "truly phenomenal future hero” the president agreed.
Izuku Midoriya was a gem hidden under piles of falsehoods and hatred. Born Quirkless, bullied and abused his entire life. And yet the one faculty member of Aldera Middle School, the nurse, had been able to slide in the truth of the boy. A kind soul, an intelligent young man beyond even some Intelligence-based quirks, and a boy who, despite everything, refused to give up his dreams of becoming a hero, one way or another. Take all of this and give the boy a quirk over 200 years old? Well, from zero to ten thousand overnight. It made Nedzu internally smile… but that was where the second problem really began. Yagi had taught the boy almost nothing. Bulking up? Sure, let’s call cleaning up a beach with little to no instructions that. Again, it worked, so Nedzu wasn’t entirely upset with him there. But there was no training of said 200-year-old quirk.
It was obvious when Midoriya had slammed into the Zero pointer, destroying it in one shot. He distinctly remembered one of the visiting Recommendation students, Momo Yaoyorozu, exclaiming in horror that the boy was horribly injured and needed Recovery Girl asap. He remembered Power Loader swearing as he tried to figure out why HIS Zero Pointer had gone rogue. And above all else, he remembered Yagi looking so confused, most likely wondering why the boy hurt himself. Nedzu had wanted to tear into the man at that very moment, but there wasn’t time for that. So he simply ordered Recovery Girl to head to that specific arena and set himself to figure out Midoriya.
Which led to now, the first day of school and expulsion papers on his desk. Shota Aizawa, his once most prized pupil, simply stared at the chimera, expecting compliance. Yagi’s incompetence had led to a man who should have been fired after last year’s stunt (Yamada had convinced him to give him one more chance. Well, he lost that chance just now) try to expel a boy who had done nothing wrong.
He had simply been given all the wrong tools and words.
“No.” Aizawa jolted at those words, as if they sent a shock to his system. Good.
“No? Why not? You’ve never stopped me before.” Aizawa droned out, looking both confused and dead to the world. Nedzu had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. Of course he was asking that. As if that would change his answer.
“No, because I should not have played that game last year or the year before that. No, because I am not going to let you worsen a mistake that has been ten months in the making. NO because I am done with your ruses and schemes and plots.” Nedzu turned to Aizawa, staring deep into the underground hero’s eyes. Pitch black clashed with dead red. And despite anything Aizawa could say, Nedzu’s will had always been comparable to a void. If he wanted to, he could silence even All Might. After a few more moments, Aizawa grunted and turned to walk out until Nedzu called him back.
“Also, I am moving you to a security role. You clearly can’t be trusted with this class.” Aizawa froze and slowly turned to Nedzu, who was now smiling as he typed away at his computer. Oh he could just hear the thoughts going through his former student’s head. Truly Shirokuma’s death had done more damage than anticipated, as did the long years with very little sleep. How this man was even alive was a medical marvel.
“Yes you heard me right. This was a long time coming. You can thank your cheerleader in Yamada that you even lasted this long. Well, I’m doing this before he can try and change my mind. Now please remove yourself from my office. And get some actual therapy while you're at it.” Aizawa simply left the room, seemingly too stunned to talk. Nedzu sighed as he looked back at the papers Aizawa had tried to get him to sign. This had happened because of Yagi’s stupidity. Because of one damn SECERT…
A lightbulb. A recent introduction to a world that had been hidden from him, but now something had changed…
Nedzu began to cackle, an idea now firmly situated in his mind. Oh, it was perfect! Perfect perfect perfect! He just needed to send a few emails, adjust his schedule for the evening, gather some unique individuals, and get his files put together.
Hopefully, by tomorrow morning, UA would become a brighter place than it's ever been.

To say that Nemuri was a tad bit nervous was an understatement. It was the evening of the first day of school, and most if not all the students had left. And yet a surprise meeting had been sprung onto the staff. And it had been labeled as HIGHLY IMPORTANT. And while Nedzu was one for theatrics, he wasn’t a being for underselling things. So if it was important, it was important. So here she was, having JUST changed out of her hero uniform and into her civilian clothes, rushing to the main staff room.
Upon hurrying inside, she groaned at being the second to last person there. Of course AIZAWA was always late, but that was besides the point. Sighing she trudged on over to where her best friend (Yamada had used up the last of his good gracious a long time ago… it still hurt) Maijami sat, giving him a nod. He too was in casual wear, that being a hoodie and jeans, his messy orange hair and thick black trimmed glasses making him look like a stereotypical shut in.
“Any idea what this is about, Nems?” Nemuri ignored the wince Yamada made as she shrugged, looking to where Nedzu was seemingly finalizing some files.
“No clue, but it’s important. So let’s listen up.” Maijami nodded to that, turning his head back to Nedzu who was just standing up in his seat and looking quite chipper. Well at least this meeting wasn’t going to be borning, that’s for sure.
“Thank you for coming, everyone! And before you ask, Yamada, no, Eraserhead will not be joining us today. As of today he has been moved into a security role and security role ONLY.” That got some whispering and a gasp from Yamada, but Nemuri merely narrowed her eyes. There was more to this, she knew that much. After all, there had only ever been four students who were trained under the Rat God, and she’d be damned as one of them not to notice the gleam in her sensei’s eyes.
“But of course, there’s more to this meeting, isn’t there, Sensei? So spit it out.” Most would be terrified to talk back to someone like Nedzu, but in reality Nedzu WELCOMED these challenges, especially when they came from competent individuals. So this was always a fun little bit of banter. Nedzu just grinned wider.
“Why indeed! You see, Aizawa made a little attempt to remove the next Symbol… or better yet, the leader of Symbols for the next generation!” That got everyone’s attention, Snipe humming a tune while Kan looked a tad bit more eager than usual. Nemuri’s eyes just widened a bit. That… that was high praise from Nedzu… just who was this kid?!
“You see, there is a secret that a certain someone, who is NOT aware of this meeting, that I have been willingly keeping. But he unintentionally almost led to his own student’s expulsion. And that boy is a ticking timebomb of sheer power. So, I am about to tell you all a tale that can not be repeated to people outside our trust.” Maijami nudged her, giving Nemuri a look of ‘did you catch that?!’ And catch it she did. If this secret was so important, but Nedzu was so willing to let it spread…
Oh shit was about to go down. So with everyone stunned into silence, Nedzu began his tale of two brothers…
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nemuri wanted to scream. Or drag Aizawa into this shit just so he could suffer. But right now he just had to take a deep breath as she lifted her head from the table, where a suitable dent was now there.
“Nedzu. I need to repeat all of this so I can understand just how thoroughly FUCKED this all is. One, there’s a possible villain that’s capable of stealing quirks out there, even if All Might thinks he’s dead, I ain’t believe that for a second unless I see a body. Second, this villain created a quirk that stockpiles and transfers… and that IZUKU MIDORIYA is the current wielder of that quirk. And third… All Might taught him JACK SHIT?!” The staff room was filled with audible groans and a “The FUCK Yagi!?” from Cementoss. Ryo, aka Hound Dog, looked more or less concerned as he brought up another point.
“There’s also the fact that Midoriya was Quirkless before One for All. That mixed with a bad first day at UA has probably cemented UA is just like every other school. Simply put, if you do not put that boy into therapy, I WILL.” The healing threat lingered in the air as the staff mulled over that, before Kan snarled as he slammed his fist into the table.
“FUCKING HELL. And here I thought we’d have a good year… permission to blame Aizawa?” No one argued, not even Yamada, who was clearly trying to think of how to make Midoriya’s, and by extension the entirety of Class 1A, stay at UA the best it could. Dense as he was, he DID care about the kids. Hurt one in front of him, and you are just as good as a dead man. So there was that.
“Okay, with silent permission granted, FUCKING AIZAWA!!! We could have had a kid, the underdog of a century, be something like the herald of a new era! BUT NO! He had to let his fucking distaste for ALL MIGHT get in the way AGAIN! AND now we have to deal with All Might being a dumbass. A well meaning dumbass, let’s not get it twisted, BUT A DUMBASS!!!” The statement was shared across the staff, with Recovery Girl sighing as she shook her head.
“This whole deal is a mess. Not to mention half the issues our first years have…” Nemuri winced but nodded at that. Both classes A and B had gotten powerhouses, but both filled to the brim with confidence, image, worth, and more issues just lying around. Nedzu nodded to this as well, sighing, his once chipper expression now that of a tired principal.
“I wholeheartedly agree, Chiyo. That is why there will be changes, starting with the introduction to some new members of our staff…” Nedzu looked up, a fire burning behind his eyes. And Nemuri knew that things were going to change, and for the better. After all, you don’t annoy Mr. Principal and think you get away with it. No, he plans your embarrassment and makes it a lesson. And UA as a whole was about to be part of that lesson…
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kyouka Jirou was not expecting her second day at UA to be chaotic… but here she was.
She had entered the school, talking with her new best friend Momo Yaoyorozu about what they could be expecting. And well, it was a very fun talk, but the dread she felt getting closer to her homeroom was… well, it was less then fucking pleasant. Aizawa was… well he was a dick. He had CLEARLY targeted Midoriya, a kid she just knew was on the bottom of the feeding pool when it came to the social ladder.
Which made her goal of being friends with the boy all the harder, since she had no clue how to start a conversation with the boy. She had tried to ask Denki, her friend since childhood, if he got anything from him, but Denki looked sad as he shook his head.
“All I got was a nervous stuttering and him running away from me. He also winced when I raised my hand for a high five. Bro is NOT okay.”
Sighing, she looked to Yaoyorozu, who was looking at the door to their homeroom with some weariness. The duo looked at each other, taking a deep breath, and opened the door… to see someone very much NOT Aizawa sitting at the front desk. It was a woman, burns covering her face and exposed arms, and she wore what looked to be simple work out attire. The woman turned to see the two girls looking at her gobsmacked, which made the woman merely nod at the two.
“Jirou. Yaoyorozu. Welcome to class, homeroom will be starting in a few minutes, so feel free to sit. Or don’t, I don’t really care until the bell rings.” The two girls quickly nod and hurry over to sit down. This woman was, to put it bluntly, terrifying. But something about her seemed… chill? Relaxed? Whatever it was didn’t matter they simply sat down. Slowly the rest of the class trickled in, each reacting in kind to the new teacher. It was when Izuku Midoriya walked in that things REALLY kicked off.
“... what the fuck…” Midoriya had walked in and looked at their teacher in a mixture of confusion and sheer exhaustion. The woman merely raised an eyebrow at the reaction before seemingly realizing who this was and chuckling.
“Ah Midoriya. Good, you’re the last one here. That means we can get started before the bell.” Midoriya quickly ran to his seat as the woman stood up and looked over the entire class, her eyes narrowing in on each of them. Kyouka couldn’t help but feel like she was being judged. Slowly the woman nodded as she stepped in front of the desk and crossed her arms.
“Alright, let’s get this over with. Name’s Maki Kugisaki. You may see my wife Nobara around from time to time, so you may simply refer to me as Maki or if you have to Maki Sensei. I will be taking over for your poor excuse of a teacher from now on.” Ida quickly stood up, hand raised but not waiting to speak. Kyouka had to roll her eyes at the display.
“Sensei! I must ask wh-” “Zip it.” That got everyone to freeze as Maki turned to Ida, her eyes narrowed. Ida quickly sat down, though even from here she could tell the boy had gone pale. Maki sighed as she pushed herself away from the desk and gave them a stern look.
“Why Aizawa is no longer teaching you doesn’t fucking matter. And let me tell you, I run a tight ship. So let’s get started with this.” She turned to Mineta, and Kyouka couldn’t help but grin as the woman walked over, grabbed the whimpering boy, walked over to the door of the classroom, threw him out, and locked the door. She then turned to the class, her grin making everyone shiver.
“Minora Mineta is no longer a part of this class. Why? Because he’s a sexual harassment case waiting to happen. Though while we’re on the subject on bad students… Katsuki Bakugou.” Bakugou looked up and snarled at the teacher which… Maki just laughed?
“Oh think you’re tough shit, huh? Think you can get away from attack another student? With being disrespectful to your classmates AND me?” Maki walked over to Bakugou’s desk and slammed her foot on top of it, glaring down at the blond. Her eyes narrowed at the boy before speaking again.
“You, Katsuki Bakugou, have two options. Accept your punishment and grow up, or get the hell out of my class.” Bakugou sneered as he looked ready to explode.
“EEEH?! You haven’t even said shit about a punishment! I was just showing this useless DEKU HIS DAMN- URK!” As he was about to say more shit about Midoirya, Maki suddenly grabbed him by the face and lifted him up as if he was paper. Maki then simply dropped the boy, looking completely indifferent.
“Izuku Midoriya is more of a hero than you ever will be, considering his history and his will to help people. As for your punishment? It’s simple. Month of detention, mixed with necessary anger management classes AND lessons on Quirk Discrimination, both being done by our resident counselor and head of security Hound Dog. So… to my previous statement… two options. The choice is yours.” Everyone in the class looked at her in shock. Just who was this woman?! Bakugou just growled but kept seated. Maki nodded to that and looked back at the class.
“The rest of you, you’re all fine. But as you can see, be an asshole or a complete idiot, you’re done. At the least, booted to Gen Ed. At worst, kicked out of UA entirely, like Mineta… or hellish… you could be arrested. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before.” That feral grin returned as she looked at them all, but Kyouka didn’t feel threated… no she felt determined.
“I am going to teach you lot everything you need to know about this world’s path of Heroes, and I won’t hold back. So be ready, because I have access to ALL of your files. So let it be known that if you’re hiding some kind of medical shit, I am finding you and you are seeing Recovery Girl.” Maki glared until everyone got the hint.
“YES SENSEI!” Maki nodded before going back behind her desk.
“Good. Now, you have a school day to get to, and I have a certain blond oaf to talk to about his stupidity with secrets.”
