Work Text:

The Warblers prided themselves on being great rule-followers. It was the norm at Dalton, and as role models in the school, they felt that was their job. One rule they followed religiously was Dalton's rule about punctuality. Morning practice began at 7am, and afterschool practice was at 3:30. So, they were all a bit concerned when it was 7:15 and their star singer was nowhere to be seen.

They were meant to be celebrating after regionals. Sure, they didn't win, but they put up a good fight. The cake on the table was sitting untouched while the Warblers sat around it anxiously.
Finally, Blaine walked in. To no one's surprise, Kurt was with him. There was immediately something different about them, though. It was like a chain reaction throughout the room. Jeff was the first to notice it, and he very excitedly elbowed Nick in the ribs so that he'd see it too. Then the council all noticed, all three of them perking up at the sight. After that, the rest seemed to notice instantaneously.
Blaine and Kurt were each holding a coffee in one hand, as usual, but each of their free hands were holding onto the other's.

Everyone decided to stay silent for a while, not wanting to overstep, but there was a specific kind of tension in the room that no one could put a name on. It probably came from a certain two people giving eachother The Eyes™ across the room any time either of them sang a vaguely flirty line. Of course, it was Jeff who spoke up first.

"Okay, is anyone gonna bring up the elephant in the room?"

Everyone glared at him like he'd just committed a crime before the room burst into chatter. A lot of it was everyone giggling at Blaine and Kurt, though.
After about a minute of borderline yelling throughout the room, Wes banged his gavel on the desk.

"Everyone quiet!" He sighed, like he knew exactly what can of worms he was opening. "What were you saying, Jeff?"

Jeff stood up, a determined look on his face. "You two!" He then pointed an accusatory finger and the two in question, and Nick put a hand on his back, muttering something about calming down. "You came in here holding hands, what was that about?"

Blaine sighed. Everyone in the room could tell that he'd rather be anywhere else. But, it was Kurt who spoke up from the other side of the room.
"Fine. Blaine and I..." He hesitated, looking mildly uncomfortable. "...Are together."

The room practically exploded into chaos, but a certain group in the room were sitting very attentively, like they were trying to calculate something. "So... how long has this been a thing?" Nick asked from the couch.
Blaine finally spoke up. "Since yesterday, actually." Jeff practically screamed in delight, jumping from his seat and walking over to the council's desk.
"Hah! Where's my fifty bucks, Wes?"

"What?" Blaine and Kurt both asked in unison. The few Warblers who seemed to be involved in this giggled a bit.
"Were you guys betting on us getting together?" Blaine shook his head disapprovingly.
"Oh no, we knew you'd get together at some point. We were just betting on when." David said with a small smirk as Wes begrudgingly handed a fifty dollar bill to Jeff next to him.

"And I said before regionals." Jeff said, looking very pleased with himself.

Nick lifted a hand to intercept. "I said over the summer." He muttered, utterly defeated.

"I thought it'd be at sectionals." Trent added.

Some of the others in the room added their predictions, while Blaine and Kurt just look at eachother, their faces a mix of disbelief and fondness for the idiots that surrounded them.

Finally, they got on with practice. But not without a healthy dose of teasing.
