Work Text:
Peter hadn’t gotten sick since the spider bite. That’s why he was instantly confused when he woke up on a random Thursday with a pounding headache, achiness everywhere, and enough nausea that he’d vomited twice within twenty minutes. It sucked. May had already left for a shift at the hospital, so Peter decided to send her a text saying he’d be off school.
You
hey may i kinda feel like shit
i vomited like twice
so i’m gonna stay home
if that’s alr
He waited for a response while sitting next to the toilet. He was still nauseous, and could never be too careful. Only a couple minutes later May sent a response.
May
Of course Sweetie. Do you need me to ask for the rest of the day off or are you okay on your own.
You
nah it’s alg
i larb u
May
Larb you too, sweetie.
Peter smiled for about half a second before he was groaning in nausea and sticking his head in the toilet to puke his guts out once again. He felt mildly better after, but his mouth tasted like puke and his head was still spinning. If only normal painkillers worked for his metabolism. Only Tony had painkillers that worked for his metabolism. Actually… he could totally text Tony for stuff. He didn’t want to interrupt the man, but he had learned over the past few months that Tony hated seeing Peter hurt, and sick counted as hurt… right?
Before he could question himself he picked up his phone again and unlocked it, scrolling to Tony’s contact.
You
hey tony
idk if may texted u but i’m sick as shit and off skl
but my head hurts and yk normal painkillers don’t work
could u like drop off sum of the special ones pls
but only if ur not busy i don’t wanna bother u
Peter slumped against the toilet bowl and put his phone down, knowing Tony usually took a while to respond, but to his surprise only a couple seconds later his phone pinged. He grabbed it and looked down to see it was his mentor who had texted him.

Hey kiddo, sorry to hear you’re not feeling too great. May texted and I’m already on my way with painkillers.
Peter relaxed a bit. Tony was coming with painkillers. Only like twenty more minutes of excruciating headache before he could be painless. Suddenly, his phone dinged again and he looked down to see a few messages coming through from the group chat he had with Ned, MJ, and Harley.

Peter closed his phone after sending the message, his headache getting too strong for him to continue texting. The group chat was still buzzing with messages but after a few seconds it slowed to a stop. Peter groaned. The nausea was getting worse. Hopefully Tony would arrive soon.
An uninvited wave of nausea wracked Peter again and he curled himself over the toilet, bile rising and burning his throat. He spat as much of it out but it still stung. Even though he’d barely gotten out anything, he still flushed the toilet and then went and rinsed his mouth out and drank some water. It helped get the taste of bile out, even if it was going to come back up in probably less than ten minutes.
Peter sat back down next to the toilet. Some amount of time passed — Peter didn’t keep track — in which he vomited once more before the doorbell rang. Peter found enough energy to peel himself away from the toilet and to walk out of the bathroom, opening the apartment door to a very concerned looking Tony Stark.
“Hey Tony,” he grumbled.
“You look like shit,” his mentor said before walking in. Peter eyed the bottle of pills clutched in his right hand, and Tony obviously noticed. “Yeah okay, kid. Here.” The man passed the bottle to Peter who immediately grabbed it and poured out a couple pills, downing them without water.
He sighed in relief, before they even kicked in. “Thanks.”
Tony smiled. “No problem kiddo. You know, I didn’t think you could get sick.”
“Me neither,” Peter groaned, rubbing his head. “It sucks.”
“Yeah well, sucks to suck,” his mentor responded and Peter gaped.
“Where did you learn that phrase?” he asked incredulously.
“You,” Tony replied bluntly. Peter groaned.
“I hate it. Don’t say it.”
Tony laughed a little. “Sucks to suck I guess.”
“Stop it!”
“No.”
Peter started to grumble before a sharp wave of nausea wracked his body. He immediately fled to the bathroom, and could hear Tony following behind. His knees complained as he fell to them quickly, the water he’d drank after his last puke coming out along with the taste of stomach acid. Peter groaned, but felt a hand rubbing his back.
“Ugh. Hate being sick,” he complained to Tony who was giving him an expression of sympathy.
“I know, kiddo. I know. Better out than in, though.”
Peter wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be reassuring. It probably was, but it didn’t feel like it. Vomiting sucked.
“You should wear a mask or something,” Peter said to his mentor, knowing very well he himself couldn’t wear one as he’d vomit all over his face. “Don’t wanna get sick.”
“Eh, I’ll be fine,” Tony reassured.
Two days later, Peter received two texts from Tony.
