Work Text:
when pio had been expelled from his house, with nothing on him except for his clothes and his phone, he didn’t know what to do. sure, his family hadn’t been the most pleasant to be around, but they lived comfortably to say the least. he never had to worry it there was going to be a warm meal on his table, or if electricity would bee be cut off.
but now standing on the asphalt right next to the concrete that housed the comfort he was so very used to, he realised how screwed he was. where was he going to stay? what was he going to eat?
only one solution came to mind — choi jeongyo.
kang pio had always been cold and aloof. he never bothered to make friends, never thought he had to. acquaintances, sure. he had to do chamber with someone. but people he talked to during his free time, someone he could rely on? yeah, he had none.
not until choi jeongyo barged down on the locked ice doors protecting his heart.
for someone so unpolished, someone who never trained professionally, he played the piano with so much warmth and passion. so different from how pio played, with cold and calculated precision.
when pio realised how jeongyo had been afraid of performing in crowds, it didn’t sit right with him. not one bit. for someone who’s talents were supposed to be shown off, this was the last fear they should’ve had.
so pio decided to let jeongyo into his heart, helping him get out of his terrible predicament. and along the way, some of jeongyo’s warmth spread to him too, he could feel it in the way he played.
a few months now, jeongyo is the only one pio can call a friend. so using the last few coins he had, he hopped on a bus and headed to the school’s dormitory.

jeongyo had been reading through the score of the next piece he and pio would been performing together. he seemed to prefer four hands now, enjoying the way the notes seemed to flow together when he played with pio. while interpreting the piece, he heard the doorbell ring. he hadn’t been expecting anyone, so it came to him as a surprise.
as he looked through the peephole, he saw pio standing there in a thick jacket, backpack slung. he looked like a schoolboy on his first day of school, both dreading and anticipating the first day of school.
jeongyo immediately opened the door, to which pio shined his smile at.
“pio, what are you doing here?”
“can i crash tonight? i promise i won’t be a hassle.” pio asked.
“o-of course, come on in.”
jeongyo forgot how messy his room had been, only realising when he had let an unexpected guest in. his clothes were everywhere, on the floor, at the feet of his bed, under his desk. not to mention the state of his bed, his sheets were all bundled up, one of his pillows ok the floor.
jeongyo scrambled to get the mess out of sight, but pio wasn’t blind. he let out a soft chuckle, wondering exactly how jeongyo had been living. well, he didn’t have to wonder not that he was living with him.
“uhm, i’d offer you the bed but i think you’ve seen how it was, i’ll get you some sheets and a pillow.”
he went off to the cupboard, taking a fresh set of sheets and a pillow, as well as a fresh set of pyjamas for him to wear to sleep.
“i don’t have much clothes in your size, these are my oversized fits. you can wear them to sleep.” jeongyo offered sheepishly. he didn’t know what this rich kid was expecting but this was the best he could do.
pio accepted the clothes before heading into the bathroom to wash up and get ready for bed. while he was doing that, jeongyo rushed down to the nearest convenience store to get food. knowing pio, he knew he wouldn’t trouble people to help him at all until he’s pushed to the limit. he probably hadn’t even had dinner yet. jeongyo wasn’t rich, and the most comforting meal he could think of was ramyeon with some kimchi.
when he returned, pio was already out of the bathroom, towel wrapped around his waist and drying his hair with the hair dryer that jeongyo had laid out on the vanity table. jeongyo set out the food on his small study table, “pio, once you’re done come and eat.”
pio was done within a few moments, seated at the study table looking at the food blankly.
“is the food not to your tasting?”
“no, i’m just surprised you got this for me.”
“eat up, it’s already late. we gotta wake up early for school tomorrow.”
pio did as told. after he finished, he brushed his teeth before slipping into the sheets that jeongyo had set out for him.
“thank you, jeongyo.”
“it’s not a problem. partners help each other in times of need.” jeongyo replied, half asleep already.
partners, that’s what we are, partners.

the next night when they had returned to their now shared dorm, pio noticed the newly changed bedsheets.
“you changed them?” pio asked while pointing at them.
“yeah, i felt kinda bad letting a guest sleep on the floor. you can sleep on the bed from tonight onwards. i’ve been sleeping on the ground my whole life, a few more nights won’t kill me.”
pio felt flustered, like a deer under a spotlight, not knowing how to react properly. “b-but you’re the host, you should sleep on the bed. i’m the one invading your home.”
“what nonsense are you saying? invading? go and get changed so we can get ready for bed.” pio took out another set of clothes from his closet and shoved it into pio’s hands, before similarly shoving him into the washroom.
jeongyo looks at pio’s sweater from the day before, glancing once more at the bathroom door before rolling it up and keeping it in the drawer. he doesn’t even know why he did it.
not long after, pio is out from the bathroom, adorably in jeongyo’s pyjamas. (a/n: jeongyo doesn’t even register the fact that he just thought pio looked cute in his pyjamas).
pio lazily stretches as he lays down on the sheets on the ground, the skin of his waist slipping out as jeongyo’s shirt rides up his waist. jeongyo can almost hear the cat purrs from him. jeongyo shakes his head to knock himself out of it.
“pio, i already told you to sleep on the bed. if by the time i’m out of the bathroom you’re not on the bed i won’t let you stay in my room anymore. understood?” pio lazily nodded.
however, it seemed like he didn’t hear what jeongyo said. he was still lying in the ground, the pillow in his arms instead of at his head.
jeongyo lightly nudges pio to wake up. even if it annoys him right now, it’d be worth it the next morning when none of his muscles are sore.
“pio-ah, get on the bed.”
“you should sleep there, i’d be fine. you can’t convince me otherwise.”
a crazy thought crossed jeongyo’s mind. it was worth giving it a shot. “will you sleep in the bed if i slept on it with you?”
without even a faint hint of hesitation, pio was already on the bed. “you sleep on the outer edge, im scared of falling.” pio says as he flushes his back into the wall, making space for jeongyo to sleep.
jeongyo’s the one with butterflies in his stomach now. he very carefully settles on the bed, careful not to touch pio. however, his knee brushes on pio’s, which earned him a small hum from pio.
jeongyo switches off the light.

pio found great joy in how he ended up in jeongyo’s arms. jeongyo’s left arm draped over his waist, his right arm under his neck. pio snuggled at the crook of jeongyo’s neck, breathing in his scent.
he doesn’t know why but in the next moment, he leans in for a kiss.
and that’s how jeongyo woke up to a kiss.
it was just a short kiss, out of pure innocent curiosity. and somehow, pio couldn’t figure out that this was a little odd for jeongyo.
when pio leaned in for another kiss, jeongyo moved back so much he fell onto the ground.
“p-pio, do you know what you’re doing?”
“yeah?” pio said with big doe eyes. jeongyo couldn’t tell if it was intentional or not. “it’s just a kiss.”
before jeongyo could register the next sentence, pio was on the ground with him, cornering him to the ground. “won’t jeongyo hyung let me kiss him?”
“wh—“ jeongyo immediately got silenced by pio, who seemed happily content with what he had done.
“let’s share the bed more often now, shall we?”
