Work Text:

It's happening. It's really happening!

Cheesy can't even believe this is real, but it is!

After doing multiple stand-up gigs at Hotel Oj, he finally managed to get invited by a real stand-up comedy agency!

At the moment, Cheesy was behind the curtain, getting ready for his first real comedy show. Cheesy decided that it'd be a fun idea to bring Trophy along with him backstage.

“Can you believe it, Trophy?” Cheesy said with a smile on his face, standing in front of a mirror and adjusting his bow. “My first real stand-up! This is just too good to be true!”

“Yeah, yeah, it’s… fine, I guess. But why’d you have to drag me backstage?” Trophy asked, leaning against the wall beside the mirror Cheesy was standing in front of.

“Because I just HAD to show you how cool a backstage of a real stand-up show looks!” Cheesy turned around and gestured to the place they were currently in. “Isn’t it perfect?” Cheesy asked, his eyes shining with enthusiasm.

Trophy looked around the backstage area.

“...It looks like a normal backstage to me,” Trophy replied, looking back at Cheesy and shrugging.

“Awww, don’t be so de’grate’ing, Trophy!” Cheesy slapped his knee. “After all, it’s not just a normal backstage. It’s a-”

“A real stand-up backstage. Yeah, you’ve said it a million times already…” Trophy interrupted, rolling his eyes.

“Now… It’s time to rehearse some of my best cheese jokes!” Cheesy announced, picking up his notepad from the vanity.

“Cheese jokes again? Seriously?”

“Oh, don’t worry, Trophy! I also wrote some trophy jokes just for you!” Cheesy replied excitedly.

Trophy swore he could feel his heart skipping a beat. Cheesy had written trophy jokes just for him?

Without even realizing it, Trophy started to blush.

“Aww, does someone want to hear my trophy jokes?” Cheesy asked, teasing Trophy.

“NO! I-I ABSOLUTELY DON’T WANT TO! THEY’RE… THEY’RE PROBABLY JUST… JUST STUPID IDIOTIC JOKES THAT DON’T EVEN MAKE SENSE AND THAT NOBODY WILL FIND FUNNY!” Trophy blurted out, blushing even more.

“Wellll… That’s strange… Because at my last show, you-”

“I TOLD YOU TO NEVER TALK ABOUT THAT SHOW EVER AGAIN!” Trophy screamed again. As much as he hated to admit it, he did find some of Cheesy’s jokes funny. Hilarious, even.

“And now, ladies and gentlemen… A round of applause for… Cheesy!” the speaker announced.

“Oh! Looks like I've gotta go!” Cheesy said.

And just before leaving, Cheesy leaned in and gave Trophy a quick kiss on the lips. Trophy froze.

“See you, Trophy! Wish me luck!” Cheesy called out while running to the stage.

“HEY, YOU- YOU CAN’T JUST DO THAT AND LEAVE!” Trophy shouted.

Trophy was now alone, his lips tingling from the kiss. He sighed and blushed.

“Idiot…” Trophy mumbled to himself.
