Work Text:
The super intendant had quite the bad tendency to keep notes on anything he found interesting. Maybe it was due to when he use to keep notes on lovey dove, maybe it was muscle memory from years in school, he didn’t know. This habit of his became quite the problem whenever he started keeping notes on inspector Cabanela. The man was a crazy character in a white coat, who wouldn’t want to take notes on the guy. To the superintendent it had only become more of a problem when Cabanela noticed him taking out a small notepad from a drawer every time he saw Cabanela do practically anything.
——
“Morning Inspector” The superintendent said in his usual manner, Cabanela first responded with a twirl and pose, etching closer to the pigeon man than replied, “Mornin’ to you too, baby!” Nothing was strange or different about Cabanela today, besides his obvious differences that just came with him. That’s what the superintendent would believe a normal person would think about the inspector on that day, but the pigeon man noticed something different that day, it was small but it was different very different from all the years he knew Cabanela this hadn’t seemed normal. The superintendent took out a small mint green notebook that was slid into a drawer next to him on the desk he was sitting near. Lovey dove cooed as he did this, seemingly noticing the same change in Cabanela as the pigeon man. Cabanela towed over closer to the junkyard superintendent- as he did so twirling with his ever so classic elegance and his finishing dance and pose- he swiftly swung his hand over to try to grab the pigeon man’s notes adding “now cannnn i grab a look at this?” The superintendent moved it away from him just at the right time remarking “no, you moron” Cabanela put on a smirk and a confusingly sad look. He moved away but not without his dramatics, doing a small unfinished twirl while turning around and thematically posing to where his hand held his head making a curious look. Afterwards stating “I’ve reallllyyyy gotta finally ask this, baby, why do you happin’ to always pull out that little notebook of yours wheneverrr you see me hm?” The response to his question was a plain “no” with an agreeing coo from lovey dove.
——
It’d only been about a week from what had happened earlier. On that day Cabanela was preforming another one of his daily stunts, or so the superintendent assumed, perhaps bothering Jowd maybe even alma, or maybe dancing on a crime scene, he could be trying to do that panic dance that one policeman always does in times of crisis. To the pigeon man this all could be correct but it didn’t quite feel like it. Cabanela definitely wouldn’t let something from a week ago like that just get out of his grasp, the thought of Cabanela reading his notes didn’t get to the superintendent too much but it wouldn’t be good for if they were to work more together. He checked the drawer where he kept the small notebook. It was there but there was something not quite right, lovey dove flowed down on the desk and pecked at the insides of the drawer cooing along as she did. The pigeon man grabbed up the small notebook noting it was too small, opening it up revealed a note “Sorry, took your notes, couldn’t help myself baby!” It wasn’t signed but he could infer who took it. He let out a sigh among reading it, he couldn’t tell you why he didn’t hide the notebook better he had no idea why he slipped up when he did but hopefully this doesn’t ruin his relationship with the inspector
——
Cabanela wouldn’t say he lets curiosity get the best of him, but as of recent it definitely has. He’s finally be able to get over his curiosity from getting a certain small notebook green mint in color. He’s sitting at his office desk with this notebook sitting on his desk before he dramatically grabs it up with a twist of the wrist and pulls open the cover gently. Whatever it contains inside makes Cabanela quiver with a mix of excitement, curiosity, and other emotions he couldn’t quite express or explain. The inspector knew that it wouldn’t take long before the superintendent would figure out his writings were taken but he used all the time he had to read as much as he could.
——
The pigeon man knocked on the office’s door. Hearing Cabanela jolt out “Comme in!” He swung the door open, exclaiming ever so tiredly “So did you read and take the notebook?”
The inspector sat upright a bit more than marched up and circled his desk halfway before facing the superintendent than adding a twirl at the end and holding out his hand, with the mint notebook, towards the pigeon man. Commencing their conversation “I may have, got toooo curious, baby! I’ll say your notes are quite organized indeed!” Superintendent grunted as he swiped the notebook from his hand, swiftly putting it in his pocket. “Say where isss that lovey dove of yours professor?” Cabanela noticed, as he moved back his arm and trailed back dancing around his desk plopping back down into his seat, leaning back smirking. “Well doves don’t seem to be allowed in buildings much I’d assume you’d know that much” pigeon man stopping in his sentence to give an annoyed look at the inspector “How many of my notes did happen to read?” Right as the superintendent was finishing up his sentence the office’s slammed open making Cabanela jump up, it happened to be Jowd, the pigeon man just put his hands back in his pockets and waited to hear what he had to say. “Cabanela, there’s an important case that you’re needed on, now” despite the man slamming open the door he was surprisingly calm in his tone, the inspector responded “Don’t ya worry, i’lll be there imm-ediately, baby! Sorry professor, i’ll have to get to a case, maybe next week, maybe next week!” The inspector sauntered off around his desk after getting up from his chair in a dramatic jump, twirling off to follow Jowd shutting the door discreetly behind him. Oh boy yea Cabanela is telling Jowd everything about this. That’s all he could really think to himself before sighing and planning to talk to him about it later. Soon leaving the office to get to his own office to check on lovey dove.
