Day 14 Up in the Sky

Work Text:

Willow knew she really shouldn't fly, but she couldn't help herself. The sun hadn't risen yet when she tiptoed out of the room so as not to wake Luz and Amity. The cool autumn breeze greeted her as she closed the front door behind her almost silently.
She zipped up her jacket and looked for a spot where no one could see her.

In the human world, it wasn’t normal for someone to just fly up into the air, but the streets were empty, and no one was up that early to see her.
The first rays of sunlight timidly cast an orange glow over the street as Willow pushed off the ground with all her might and shot upward.

Higher, faster, farther, until she reached her destination
She shot through the blanket of clouds like an arrow. When she felt the wind on her face and through her hair, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Finally, she felt at peace.

“Are you ready, Clover?” she asked her palismen with a laugh and picked up the pace once more. “Look,” said Willow as the warm sunlight tickled her cheeks. She sighed happily.
Here, above the clouds, she felt free. She could do whatever she wanted. Letting the wind rock her back and forth, racing the birds, without a guilty conscience, without responsibilities, without worrying about others. She no longer had to be the reliable Willow, but could simply be herself.

She bounced her feet happily, her gaze fixed ahead, and beamed as brightly as the sun.
