Work Text:
Akihiko sat at his very cluttered desk, his head in his hands. His math work began to get blurry as he stared at it, all that was going through his mind was “I’m not good enough”, “I can’t do it”, and “Daki will be so disappointed in me.” He was spiraling, big time. His phone buzzed on his left, loud, and insistent.
He groaned, peaking out through his fingers. His phone lit up with a text from none other than Harumi. The preview read “Aki? You alright?”
Akihiko stared at the message for a moment, watching more flood in.
Mushroom: “You haven’t come over in a week, and big sis said you’ve been stressed lately”
Mushroom: “You wanna come over willingly or do I have to drag you?”
Akihiko sighed, taking his head out of his hands to grab his phone and respond.
Me: “Fine I’ll be over in 5”
Mushroom: “Yayyy cya then bunnyyyy :)”
Akihiko groaned as he stood, his head hurting now. He grabbed his phone and keys, shoving them in his pockets as he walked down the stairs to the front door. He opened the door and stepped out, letting out a breath and closing the door behind him.
He walked in silence to Harumis, his hands deep in his pockets. His breathing quickened, his hands shaking as he walked. He sped up, staring at the ground like it personally offended him.
Once he (finally) reached Harumis apartment, his mind had already spiraled out of control. His hands shook violently as he knocked on the door.
The door immediately swung open, revealing Kurose Harumi, looking worried and relieved once he saw the other boys face.
“Aki! Thank god. Come in. I was worried sick…” Harumi said, opening the door. Aki stepped in, taking off his shoes as he heard the door close behind him. Harumi took Akis hand and guided him to the couch, placing his hands on each of his shoulders to force him to sit down. Harumi sat down next to him, turning his body to face him.
“Spill. You’ve been off all week.”
Akihiko sighed, shaking his head. “Nothing gets past you I swear.” He huffed a laugh, smiling slightly.
“Well…god, where do I start? Daiki called about English, because he knew how bad I was struggling…I had a 2 for a moment!”
Harumis brow’s furrowed, but listened as Aki continued. “So, he got mad, rightfully so, and then he-“ Harumis jaw clenched, noticing how Akihikos voice sped up when he started spiraling. “-started saying how I’ll never get into university and that I need to work harder so I’ve been working all week and it’s burning me out and I’m so sorry I haven’t hung out with you all week and-“ Akihikos voice was fast, almost ineligible.
“Aki-“ Harumi attempted to cut in, to no avail. He repeated himself, louder this time. “Aki!” Once again, no response. He tried one last time. “AKI!” Harumi yelled, finally getting the other boy to pause. There were tears streaming down his face, flinching at the yell.
“…yeah?” Akihiko's voice came out small, quivering with held back sobs. Harumi paused, his expression softening. He took the brown haired boy's hand, pressing his own firmly over it. He leaned in close, whispering in the other boy's ear.
“You’re okay, Aki. You’re here, and alive, and okay.”
Akihiko sniffles, shaking his head. “I know that, but if I stray of the right path then I won’t be a proper person and I-“ His voice speeds up again. “-won’t be successful and Daki will be disappointed in me and I’ll never be good-“ He’s suddenly cut off.
He feels something warm and sweet against his lips. He blinks once, twice, and then his brain finally catches up to him.
Harumi is kissing him.
On the lips.
And damn, he’s good at it too.
His lips are soft, sweet, gentle, and they stay there for the longest and shortest time.
Harumi pulls back, and Aki immediately mourns the feeling. Harumi looks away, blushing ferociously.
“I’m sorry, Shiraishi, I-I don’t know why I did that and-“ Now it’s his turn to be cut off.
Aki quickly returns the favor, making him stop spiraling too. It was just as gentle as Harumi's kiss, except Akihiko's was hesitant and filled with nerves. His eyes were squeezed shut, his hand still under Harumis.
Harumi hummed, gladly closing his own eyes and kissing back. He shifted closer, his hand moving from Akihikos hand to around his neck, the pads of his fingertips at the nape of his neck and his thumbs stroking Akihikos jaw gently.
Akihikos hands slipped around Harumis waist, tilting his head slightly. He deepened the kiss, one of his hands moving to run through Harumis hair.
When they parted for air, they opened their eyes and looked at eachother, pressing their foreheads together. Aki smiled at the blonde haired boy, watching him breath a laugh and lean back in.
Their lips intertwined a second time, more firmly this time. It wasn’t aggressive in an angry way, more in a needy way. On both sides mind you.
(A/N: damn they freaky )
Harumi’s tongue traced the seam of Akihikos lips, taking advantage of his small gasp to slip his tongue into his mouth. His tongue explored Akihikos mouth, noticing how the favor was returned by the other.
Harumi playfully bit lightly on Akihikos tongue, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards. He heard Aki whine, getting his revenge by sucking on Harumi’s tongue. Harumi chuckled, pulling Akis face even closer (if that was possible).
…
They made out for a while longer, occasionally pulling back for air and laughing. Eventually, they both started talking about everything and nothing. Aki lied down on the couch with his hand in Harumi’s hair, Harumi on top of him.
“That’s not-…what? That’s not how chocolate works at all!” Akihiko laughed, twirling a strand of hair around his finger.
“Yes it is! Cocoa beans come from trees, therefore it’s healthy. This isn’t rocket science.” Harumi declared, grinning from ear to ear.
Aki blushed at that grin, smiling back and leaning down. He kissed his lovers forehead, pulling a blanket from the couch on top of both of them. He reached over and turned off a light, leaving a dim nightlight in the corner on.
“Go to bed, Harumi. It’s too late for this.” Aki sighed, his hand now scratching against Harumi’s scalp.
Harumi hummed, snuggling closer. “Hmm..fine. I still think chocolate is a salad though.”
