when your caregiver is the main vocalist, she can sing a lullaby

Summary:

“I know baby, I know…”

“Got s-scared m-mommy…so scary mommy….”

Sure it usually startled Zoey whenever she was cornered by demons but usually she could brush it off as her mind was occupied with something else. Right now, being little and that experience being a near death experience was all too much.

OR

Zoey drops after being cornered during a demon fight and Rumi sings to her little, not thinking of this before.

Notes:

I know there’s a lot of little Mira requests and I’m loving them all, but I do wanna get some little Zoey in before I start on one of the little Mira requests. You’re more than welcome to keep the requests coming!!

CW: attempted strangling?? being cornered?? (doing this just in case)

Work Text:

“Rumi, they’re cornering her!” Mira shouted, as she was ordered Zoey who was being cornered by a bunch of demons to let Rumi know what’s happening.

“AGHHH! Hurry!” she shouted again, stabbing another demon with her gok-do.

Even Zoey’s shin-kal were barely helping her and she was struggling to take them down on her own. One demon had a grip around her shoulders, close to her neck and standing behind her. Another one grabbed both of her wrists. She tried to break free but struggled.

“RUMIIII!!” Zoey screamed calling for her “mommy.”

“Rumi, what are you doing? What’s taking so long!” Mira snapped. She didn’t need to, but she was worried for her girlfriend. She could get stabbed to death any minute and she couldn’t afford to lose one of her girlfriends.

“Oh shit!” Rumi freaked out for a second, worried something would happen to the maknae but gathered herself quickly. “I’ll be right there sweetheart!” she shouted, before running quickly.

Her baby was in danger and needed to be saved so with her own weapon, Rumi wiped out of all of the demons with Mira’s help.

The two unnies took a few seconds to catch their breath before checking in on Zoey.

“Are you okay?” Mira asked.

Zoey shook her head reluctantly before starting to make her way back to the penthouse. She could already feel a fog creeping up at her brain.

“M-Mommy…I w-want…m-mommy…” she muttered.

“My caregiver instincts are telling me otherwise,” Rumi added approaching Zoey to scoop her baby in her arms.

“Yeah, I’m just glad she’s still alive and in one piece,” Mira sighed, following suit.

Zoey surprisingly remained quiet on the couch, trying to suppress her regression and trying to make sure her thumb didn’t go in her mouth as it was just pressing on her lip. She was also totally unaware of the conversation Mira and Rumi were having while standing in the kitchen right now. Zoey didn’t even try to eavesdrop to what they were talking about as she looked spaced out while also making sure she didn’t drop.

Rumi could sense Zoey was at the tip of the edge of the drop so she brought over Pickle to their living room just in case and held onto him.

“This is weird, she never suppresses her regressions. Maybe you can try to get her to regress?” Mira suggested. “I would try and help but I don’t exactly know how to do it.”

Rumi chuckled. “I mean, I haven’t tried to get you guys to regress. You guys just do it whenever.”

That in fact did feel nice for Rumi. She didn’t have to argue with either one of them that suppressing a regression wasn’t good and if they kept suppressing, they would have involuntarily drops and that could happen at the worst possible times. Rumi could not afford that, especially during a busy day or show day.

“Well, that’s good to know. Anyways, I have to get the rest of the dance finished. I’ve been dropped for a whole week and today is my first day back to being big,” Mira chuckled.

“Okay, go choreograph! Let us know when you’re done!”

“Wait, I have to cook too!”

“We’ll order something tonight! Cook tomorrow.”

“But what if I’m dropped tomorrow?”

“Hmmmm good point. Just do what you can.”

“Got it unnie,” Mira replied, giving Rumi a quick peck on the cheek before walking over to the couch and giving Zoey a soft kiss on the head as well. “I’ll see you guys later!”

As Mira had left, Rumi sat next to Zoey on the couch to check in on her and try to get her to drop.

“Hi baby, mommy wants to check in and see if you’re okay. That was really scary, wasn’t it?” Rumi asked in a nurturing manner.

Hearing Rumi speak in that tone made Zoey sob hard. Her little toddler sobs. Those sobs hurt Rumi’s heart so much, she didn’t hesitate to bring Zoey to her lap and hug her tightly.

“I know baby, I know…”

“Got s-scared m-mommy…so scary mommy….”

Sure it usually startled Zoey whenever she was cornered by demons but usually she could brush it off as her mind was occupied with something else. Right now, being little and that experience being a near death experience was all too much.

“Look who I have for you,” Rumi told her, holding up Pickle for her. “Do you want this or mommy’s cuddles? Or do you want both?”

“Both p’ease…I wan mommy and Ickle…”

With Pickle in her arms and the little herself being in her caregiver’s arms, Zoey’s sobs started turning soft and became little sniffles. Rumi was
rocking her slowly and gently shushing her like shushing a crying baby.

At this moment, Rumi felt not just happy but also grateful that this was a way she could help Zoey support her in any way needed. After all, it had been the other way around for years so Rumi felt being a caregiver was her chance to give back.

Rumi had an idea that she never tried before and it was interesting she hadn’t tried it given that she was the lead singer but she hummed a soft little tune, hoping that could put her little one to sleep.

Within seconds, it seemed to be working. Usually, Zoey struggled with going to sleep but the demon fight and the panic attack she just had took a lot out of her, sometimes leading her to have the best sleep she could imagine. With Rumi by her side too? Bonus points!

Zoey woke up not even an hour later and she was in a better mood, but still dropped. What was a negative regression turned positive as she started to yap yap yap. Something she did big and small. Rumi made so sure to listen to everything her little one had to say, even if she would talk super fast. It made the caregiver laugh and she had to tell her to slow down and repeat herself times. Not that Zoey minded, in fact she loved it.
