1. Getting Her Hand Stuck in a Jar
One day, out of sheer boredom, Tamarack came up with this idea and dragged Sylvia into it. Sylvia managed to pull her hand back out, but Tamarack got her hand firmly stuck inside and had to ask Omi for help.
2. Getting Their Heads Stuck Between Window Bars
This time, Tamarack recruited Qiu as well, with the goal of “Everyone says you’ll get stuck if you do this, so let’s test whether that’s actually true.” In the end, all three of them got their heads stuck between the bars. The adults still bring this incident up every year just to tease them.
3. Trying to Grow Dried Watermelon Seeds
Tamarack was eating dried watermelon seeds with Sylvia when she suddenly remembered something she’d heard about watermelon seeds. Naturally, she invited Sylvia to plant some watermelons. Two months later, when nothing had sprouted, Tamarack burst into tears in front of Omi, only to learn that dried seeds couldn’t grow.
(This remains an emotional wound for fourteen-year-old Tamarack to this day.)
4. Raking the Yard Five Times, Only to Ruin Her Work by Jumping into the Leaf Piles All Five Times
The title says it all. There’s nothing more to add, except that Tamarack still does this at fourteen, albeit much less frequently.
