Hands Off Dark Lord's sweetheart(3)

Notes:

Work Text:

After Draco regained his memories, he found that everything was not actually so beautiful. His parents had been tortured to death by Death Eaters. His family had been suppressed and monopolized by the Ministry. He was no longer the delicate, noble young Master Malfoy. He was a former Death Eater standing on the opposite side of justice. Even, even if the Savior himself testified for them and bailed them out.

Malfoy was no longer a symbol of power, a representative of nobility. People transferred their hatred for the war onto those of them who were still alive.

Facing such disaster, his body and mind could not bear it. He drowned in the beautiful, fairy tale like dream Harry had woven, forgetting all the terrible things, forgetting the dark days when he had struggled in pain, forgetting the wretched way he had once looked, forgetting those humiliations and torments, forgetting...

How could he forget?

His parents had given their lives to buy him a chance to live. How could he forget?

That day Draco lay in the hospital bed at St Mungo’s for a whole day, muddled and dazed. He could not tell reality from dream.

Sometimes the harsh laughter of Death Eaters and the insults of Ministry officials still echoed in his ears.

Sometimes before his eyes appeared Harry going back to Hogwarts with him to relearn his lessons, telling him about their past. It was so beautiful. No sharp sarcasm, no opposing sides, no hostile relationship...

Everything was so beautiful, just as Draco had imagined countless times.

But he looked at the snow white ceiling, eyes empty. The eyes that had always been full of stars were covered with gloom.

Coincidentally, Harry had been very busy these past few days, busy with the passage of new bills. The areas involved were wide. Even if his word was law in the magical world, it still took time to refine and pass them. He needed the people’s support.

Every night Harry rushed back only after Draco had fallen asleep. After hastily cleaning himself up, he got into bed, held Draco from behind, and fell asleep exhausted. The next morning he was gone again. Only the house elf Harry had instructed stood quietly by Draco’s bed, waiting for Draco to wake.

Finally the day came for Draco to leave the hospital. That day Harry pushed aside all his plans, just so he could personally go pick Draco up and take him home.

Harry never refused Draco’s requests, so they walked hand in hand down the street like any ordinary couple.

Draco looked at the street, even more prosperous than before, and felt both proud and heartache. Proud of Harry’s great achievements, heartache for Harry’s hard work.

Looking back again, at Harry’s face that was no longer young and inexperienced, Draco suddenly no longer had the courage to lie to himself.

He had never been a steadfast person, nor a selfless one. His parents wanted him to live well and continue the glory of the Malfoy family, so he would live well. With Harry, who held absolute authority, no one dared oppose Malfoy anymore. Harry, considering that Draco’s memories were still those of a youth, asked Blaise, Pansy, and the others who had been by Draco’s side since childhood to help manage the Malfoy family businesses. After all, when it came to management, Harry was ultimately not as skilled as these pureblood nobles who had grown up watching and learning from their elders.

Now he only had to forget his past experiences and live carefree in the fairy tale Harry had created for him. No worries, no sorrow. He was still that spoiled, willful young master.

But Draco knew clearly that he could not go back. He had responsibilities that belonged to him. He had to bear them himself, because he was a Malfoy.

So Draco looked at Harry. His grey blue eyes were full of Harry’s reflection. He said to him, “Harry, you are my Savior.”

Harry, you have always been my Savior. Whether the childhood hero from when I was young, or the young hero who saved the magical world, you have always been the person Draco keeps in his heart.

He heard Harry’s answer, a gentle tone speaking such firm words.

“Yes, I’ve been there all along.”

He lifted their joined hands and kissed them reverently. Draco tried hard to suppress the bitterness in his heart, stepped forward, and embraced him, embracing his love.

“Thank you, Harry.”

As expected, Harry’s body went stiff for a moment, but he quickly adjusted. If Draco had not known Harry too well, he probably would not have noticed.

Harry held his shoulders with both hands and spoke with some confusion.

“Draco?”

When emerald green met misty blue, Harry finally could no longer lie to himself. His green eyes pleaded silently.

“Harry...”

Draco’s voice was soft. Seeing Harry like this, he could not bear it either, but he could no longer live in a false dream like a fool.

“Draco, will you leave me?”

Harry looked into Draco’s eyes and asked very calmly, but the hands gripping Draco’s shoulders were trembling uncontrollably.

“I have already cleaned up the people who killed Mr and Mrs Malfoy. Everyone who hurt you, I threw into Azkaban too.”

“I restored Professor Snape’s reputation and gave Mr and Mrs Malfoy the same honor.”

“The Death Eaters have all been cleaned out. I also found a way to wash the Dark Mark off you.”

“I am the Minister of Magic now. We will give the magical world a better future.”

“I...”

“Harry!”

Draco watched Harry gradually sink into his own world, talking to himself, and he knew he had to interrupt him.

Draco’s voice caught Harry’s attention. He frantically searched for Draco’s eyes and spoke rapidly. “Draco, I won’t hurt you. Those people, those people all deserved to die. Don’t be afraid of me. They all deserved to die. I did nothing wrong. They brought it on themselves...”

“Harry! Listen to me.”

Draco hugged Harry, trying to calm him down, but Harry hugged him back harder, locking him firmly in his arms.

“Harry, Harry, I won’t leave.”

Draco stroked Harry’s hair, smoothing it again and again.

“Harry, you stained your hands with blood for me. How could I abandon you?”

“Harry, they all call you the Dark Lord, but I know you are not. You are not the same as Vol... Voldemort.”

“You are the future of the magical world.”

Draco gently held Harry’s face in his hands and looked at him with eyes full of heartache.

“My Harry. War taught you to grow. People’s hearts taught you to survive. I only regret that I could not walk with you through those difficult days.”

“Everything is getting better, isn’t it?”

“But you must promise me. Don’t kill people so easily anymore.”

Harry blinked and looked at Draco a little dazed.

Seeing him like that made Draco curl his lips and laugh softly.

“My memories have returned, but I have not forgotten everything from this time either.”

“Let’s go home.”

Draco held his Savior’s hand and slowly walked along the street. He was waiting for Harry to react. Although Harry was now a competent leader, apart from being a little bad tempered, of course, Draco still had to slowly correct some of Harry’s small problems. For example, the matter of Harry killing his Healer behind his back.

After Draco finished telling Harry about his dream, the next day his Healer was replaced with a new one, and the potions prepared were slightly different. As someone who inherited Snape’s talent for potions, although at the time he only had the knowledge of a fourth year, he was sharp. Besides, Harry was completely indulgent with him. Never mind brewing potions when he had nothing to do. If he wanted the stars and moon in the sky, Harry would pluck them down for him.

Actually, Harry’s Forgetfulness Potion was made very well. Ordinary people could not detect it. Unfortunately, its target was Draco.

“Draco, I was wrong. I promise you, I will control my temper better from now on.”

“Mm hm.”

Draco raised an eyebrow, deeply doubtful of this Savior who loved to kill whenever he lost his temper. But it did not matter. He would help Harry remove the remaining influence of the soul piece.

Yes, the reason Harry’s personality had changed so drastically, apart from Draco’s incident being the trigger, was mainly the soul piece Voldemort had left in his head causing trouble. Although it had already disappeared, it had after all lived and grown together with Harry in his mind. It was impossible for it to have no effect at all.

Draco carefully recalled how Harry looked every time he was angry. When those emerald eyes took on a trace of scarlet, Harry could not control the violent thoughts in his heart. He would indulge himself and do as he pleased, feeding his dark side.

A third generation Dark Lord sounded pretty cool, but Draco still wanted his Gryffindor Savior. A little silly, a little reckless and clumsy, yet upright and brave, a little impulsive and rash, yet sincere and kind. How long had it been since he had last seen Harry’s Gryffindor side?

“Find a time and invite Pansy and the others over. Let’s get together at home. After all, you troubled them for so long.”

Seeing Harry about to open his mouth in dissatisfaction, Draco lightly dropped the last sentence. Harry shut his mouth.

All right, Draco had still put it mildly. That was far more than trouble. Even a work team’s donkey could not endure being exploited by Harry like that, all because of one sentence from Harry. “You are Draco’s best friends. I don’t want to make things difficult for you.”

Pansy and Blaise: ...

This does not count as making things difficult? If you really made things difficult, would we even have a way to live?!!!

“Oh, fine.”

Harry agreed pitifully. It made Draco’s heart soften. He raised a hand and ruffled Harry’s hair. Seeing Harry act like a large dog, pushing his luck and rubbing against his palm, Draco smiled helplessly and indulgently. He let Harry hold him and nuzzle messily against his neck.

Just as Harry treasured Draco as his life, Draco’s love for Harry was not half a bit less.

Later, Draco took over all the Malfoy family businesses. His temperament and methods were no less than Lucius’s, even more so. The Malfoy family businesses were managed by him in perfect order and thriving.

As for Harry, with a wave of his hand, he handed the position of Minister of Magic to Hermione. Under Ron’s resentful gaze, Harry happily went to the Department of Mysteries to hold a nominal post. Every day he just clocked in, then ran off to St Mungo’s or some garden of the Malfoy family to cuddle with his wife.

Of course, even if the Savior only held a nominal post, his fearsome reputation remained. After all, the people who had seen his crazy, violent appearance still remembered it vividly.

“Harry, you skipped work again!”

“Oh my dear Hermione, I just left early. I have to go pick up little dragon. He is waiting for me.”

After saying that, Harry Disapparated at once, quick as the wind. Being this kind of hands off boss was simply too satisfying.

Hermione, her face full of dark lines, exchanged a look with the trembling Head of the Ministry’s Personnel Office. “Forget it. Let him do as he likes.”

Hermione sighed and went back to her office to handle government affairs. Compared with Harry, Hermione was clearly more serious and responsible.

“Draco!”

As soon as Harry opened his eyes, he saw his dear wife’s beautiful back and immediately pounced.

“Ah! Who? ... Harry Potter!!!”

Draco had just taken off his shirt and was about to change when someone suddenly hugged him from behind. Feeling the familiar presence, he relaxed, but that did not stop him from turning his head to scold that stupid lion whose mind was full of lust.

“Ow ow ow, it hurts! Draco, it hurts! I was wrong! Be gentle... I really know I was wrong!”

Harry, very spinelessly, was caught by the ear by Draco. His tall body could only bend and tilt awkwardly. After all, he was a little taller than Draco.

“Skipping work again? Do you ever go to work on time more than three days a month! Why doesn’t Granger keep you in line?”

Draco scolded Harry furiously. Harry only hummed and hawed to muddle through, looking like he was saying, you talk, I listen, but whether I actually take it in is my business. It made Draco so angry that he looked around for his wand, ready to give Harry a profound lesson.

“Little dragon, don’t be angry anymore, all right? Hermione is so busy every day. She has no time to keep an eye on me.” Sorry, Hermione, but even he could not withstand Draco when he was angry!

Harry pulled Draco into his arms, stroked the smooth, delicate skin under his palm, and pecked kisses by Draco’s ear. Before long, Draco stopped struggling and went completely limp in his arms.

“Draco...”

“My little dragon...”

Harry murmured low in Draco’s ear, with endless tenderness and love, making Draco blush uncontrollably.

As if bewitched, Draco raised his head and pressed his lips to Harry’s. They quickly became tangled together.

Outside the window, the spring light was infinitely beautiful. Inside the window, spring passion was just as abundant.
